Go-Go Town! Roadmap for Oct/Nov 2023

Hi all!

Gosh, how is it October already?!

We've had a busy few months, and we'll continue to busy into November.

Previous Events

We had Gamescom in August, and boy was that busy for everyone involved. We were part of the Australia Booth in the Business Area, as well as Indie Arena Booth in the consumer hall.

Two booths, and five days, we sure kept busy! But it was 1000% worth it. We got to meet so many amazing people during our time there. It was just such a positive event all around.

September saw us at Tokyo Game Show where we were part of the Select Indie 80 there. It was such an honour to be selected as part of the Indie 80 showcase. We were humbled by how many amazing games that were chosen. We truly had a fantastic time and want to go back.

Recent Events

Rounding out the year for us was PAX Australia. It's always a great time to exhibit locally. It's also nice that it's a 'short' flight compared to the other shows we've attended this year. :D

We had an amazing weekend meeting so many wonderful people, and it was such a joy to show off more of Couch Co-op. Keep a watch out on our social channels if you want to see how that's progressing
Awards

This is exciting for us, as this is our first award nomination. We were a finalist for the Best International Game at Level Up KL 2023.

Due to timing, we were unable to attend :( But we were beyond humbled to have been short listed alongside a number of amazing titles!

Next Playtest

We do not have an exact date yet but will be holding our next playtest in November. It only feels like we just wrapped up our last playtest, and yet we're already planning our next one!

This will be our last playtest for the year - so we sure hope you join us.

Roadmap

I am sure this is what you are really here for... our next update to our roadmap.

One of the big focuses we are working towards for this playtest, will be the long-term gameplay loop. This has been in the works for a while now, and we're looking forward to your feedback on it! We'll continue to improve and expand on it for future playtests.

There's plenty of other things in there, too :) We hope you’re as excited as we are for this playtest.

Playtest 2 - Starts 6th September

Welcome Mayor!

We are pleased to announce that our next playtest (Playtest 2) will be starting on 6th of September and will run till 27th September.

We have made a lot of progress on building the game, so that you have more abilities to build your town!

We'll have SIX new languages (Simplified Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, French, Japanese, German, and Latin American Spanish!) annnnd some other great things, like:
 • Terraforming! You can't move mountains yet, but you can put roads where you like as well as put shallow water down. Make your own Venice!
 • Character customization! You can add glowing skin, fangs, glasses, and more, and if you want to wear a hot dog suit 24/7, we will not stop you
 • Import / Export building! Our new way of letting folks determine how they build out their town. This building accepts excess materials & crops, and you can trade them for tickets that you can exchange for new slots for workers, decoration, and more!
 • Mascots! Make the creepiest (or cutest, who are we to judge) suit that you can and then hire a townie to wear it
 • Go-Karts! Yes you heard that right! There are a lot of new things you can buy in the Import / Export shop, and Go-Karts (and speed boosts!) are among them

Codes will start being sent out to all subscribers on the 6th September, and if you sign up after the 6th (and before the 27th) a code will be emailed to you soon after you subscribe.

We are super excited that you have chosen to join us while we develop the game, and we look forward to your feedback as this will make the final experience even better!

Go-Go Town! Roadmap July/August

Hi all!

Thank you to those of you who joined us for the Playtest. We had a great time, and we received a lot of valuable feedback for everyone.

We're a bit overdue, and yes July is pretty much over now, but we wanted to share with you our updated roadmap that covers what we are working on for July and August.

Along with the new work (and implementing some feedback) we've also been busy outside of the studio.

Some of our team members attended BitSummit (July 14th - July 16th), and the Queensland Games Festival (July 22nd).

In August some of our team members will be heading over to gamescom (Aug 23rd - Aug 27th). If you happen to be attending swing by and say 'G'day'! We be showing the game as part of the Indie Arena Booth.

Text aside, the real reason for the post, and likely what you are most curious about, is our updated roadmap!

We do want to note that the Backlog part our roadmap only shows the more 'immediate' items. Sometimes things will change and get shuffled about - if you see something one month, and not the next, this does not mean we've dropped a feature. It just means we've reassessed what feature we should be doing when!

If you made it this far, thanks so much for reading - Prideful Sloth

Next up, our super-early sneak peek is now available as a demo! If you didn’t get a chance to play this in May or a PAX East, here’s another chance. Obligatory note—think of it like playing a demo in person at an event: it doesn’t have the ability to delete / edit buildings or save the game.

BUT! If you’re waiting for that functionality, then you will get your wish on
JULY 3RD when we have our next playtest!
Sign up here for your exclusive playtest invite, and we'll notify you when it's live! TownCo’s focus this playthrough is to throw you into the beginning of the game, so get ready to build your town from the ground up!

In case you missed other news, we shared our current roadmap, which, knowing game development, will probably be invalid next week, but hey! 😉 We wanted to share what we’ve got on the front and back burners.

Cheers,

Emily & the Prideful Sloth team
