Our fifth Major Update: Tourist Trap, is here!

[p]The Tourist Trap Update is here, and with it comes a bustling mix of new visitors, specific requests, unique landmarks, and some good ol’ industrial-grade expansion.[/p][p]There’s absolutely loads to unpack and major changes to how tourism works as well as lots more complex buildings to do, and we’re SO excited for you to dig in. [/p][p]Here’s what’s new:[/p][p][/p]
🗺️ Tourists With Opinions (And Desires!)
[p]Tourists now have personalities, preferences, and demands. Each type brings their own set of desires - Entertainment, Rest, Hunger, Health, Exploration, and Shopping -  and how well you meet those needs affects your town rating.[/p][p]Build with a balance in mind… or don’t. But don’t be surprised when they complain to the boss (that’s you)! [/p]
⭐️ Food & Shopping Ratings
[p]Every recipe now has a star rating! Some tourists have expensive taste, others are happy with a hot dog on a stick. Offer a mix of 1, 2, and 3-star items to satisfy everyone, or risk scaring off your posh punters and your bargain-hunters.
[/p][p][/p]
💬 Tourist Thought Bubbles
[p]You’ll now see exactly what tourists think with new emoji-style thought bubbles - happy, frustrated, or looking for something that doesn’t exist yet, because you forgot to build it. It’s all tracked in your Tourist Tracker hub, which you can turn off if the crushing weight of public judgement becomes too much.
[/p][p][/p]
🧢 Hot New Bombshells Enter the Villa Town
[p]Our new tourist type, Easy-Goers, are chill and easy to please - so they're going to be with you from the moment you start building a new town, to give you a bit of breathing room while you’re working things out. You’ll know them by their snazzy straw hats.[/p][p]Plus: We’ve officially added Robots, Dinosaurs, Aliens, Clowns into the tourist pool to join the Ghosts, Mummies, and Werewolves! They’ll all arrive via a new method though…
[/p][p][/p]
🏟️ Transit Terminals
[p]Want more aliens? Build the Moon Terminal. More clowns? Build the... well, Clown Tent. These new Tourist Spawners let you control who visits your town. And yes — you can build them and leave them OFF if you want to ban clowns forever.
[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
⛰️ CLIFF. TERRAFORMING. IS. HERE. FINALLY!!!!!
[p]Need space for your mega-stadium? Tear down that cliff. You can now build and destroy cliff tiles across the main map after you unlock \[REDACTED]. Go nuts.
[/p][p][/p]
🧑‍🏭 New Townies
[p]With new tourists come new townies! One for each exotic tourist type. Recruit them to unlock their transit terminal and attract more of their kind.[/p][p][/p]
🏗️ Major Landmarks + Tier 3 Industry
[p]Want to supercharge your tourism game? Build one of four Massive Landmarks:[/p]
 • [p]Stadium (Entertainment)[/p]
 • [p]Hot Springs (Health)[/p]
 • [p]Conservatory (Rest)[/p]
 • [p]Lighthouse (Exploration)[/p]
[p]But you’ll need serious infrastructure — including the new Factory and Tier 3 materials like Reinforced Brackets, Encabulator Cubes, and more. It’s time to upgrade your industry![/p][p] [/p][carousel][/carousel]
🛢️ YUM GREASE™️+  New Recipes
[p]Yes. YUM GREASE™️ is real. Use it in your factory for that extra slide. Plus, cook up:[/p]
 • [p] Lava Lamps[/p]
 • [p] Dirty Mags[/p]
 • [p]Seafood Sticks[/p]
[p]A balanced diet, right?
[/p][p][/p]
🔧 + QoL Improvements & Preview Branch
[p]There’s a bunch of small improvements and fixes too — from UI tweaks to performance boosts. And for those who like living on the edge, remember you can opt in to the Preview Branch to test upcoming features before they go live (don’t worry — your save is safe).[/p][p][/p]
…and just one more thing (ok, three)
[p]We’ve got a few things that we’ve saved for launch—not even the Preview Branch has seen these yet! [/p][p][/p]
WATERFALLS
[p]While you’re tearing down your cliffs, don’t forget to save a few to add waterfalls to. Add water close to the edge of the cliff, and it will make a waterfall. This means you can add water tiles to the cliff level too, so feel free to build out a series of very high lakes to admire.
[/p][p][/p]
WATER JETS
[p]Got a body of water (either natural or man-made) that you want to spruce up? Add a fountain jet! You can rotate between three variants (up high, low arc and high arc) to create the fountains of your dreams.
[/p][p][/p]
NEW TERRAIN TILES
[p]With our new urbanism, we’ve added four new terrain tiles to collect and augment in your town. They’ll rotate in to Tiny Timba’s shop to purchase! (and we’ve also adjusted the borders on other tiles so they match a bit better!)
[/p][p][/p][p][/p]

[p][/p]
💬 Tell us what you think!
[p]We’re always listening, like a true omnipotent force. [/p][p]So whether your town is a five-star utopia or a flaming bin alley with a Lighthouse, we want to see it! You can find us here: [/p][p]Join the Discord[/p][p]Bluesky[/p][p]Twitter[/p][p]TikTok[/p][p]Thank you SO much for helping us shape Go-Go Town! We’re just getting started, so stay tuned for more exciting updates coming soon! [/p][p]

What's in our next Major Update, Tourist Trap?

[p]Hello Mayors!
[/p][p]With the Steam Summer Sale kicking off (and Go-Go Town! at our deepest discount yet!: 25% off!) we wanted to talk a bit about our upcoming Major Update, Tourist Trap. It’s coming out July 15th / 16th (depending on where you are in the world!) [/p][p]
But first! We’re so excited that we’ve got a great bundle with our friends at OddSparks and Little Big Workshop! You can nab all three games in a bundle, or fill out your building & automation portfolio if you’ve already got a copy of Go-Go Town![/p][p]
[dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]We've got two main pillars of Tourist Trap, a huge overhaul to how tourists operate, and new industry features (more things to build, more complicated recipes), so let's dive in! [/p][p][/p]
Tourism
[p]Tourist Updates 🎟️🏋🏼🛀🏾🔭 Tourists have always been opinionated, but now they're even moreso! Each type of tourists has their own preferences, desires, and traits, which influences how they rate your town. There are six desires: Entertainment, Rest, Hunger, Health, Exploration, and Shopping, and items will show you which category they are. Make sure to include a range of interests as you build up your town![/p][p]Food & Shopping Star Ratings ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Recipes for food and shopping now have star ratings, and your tourists will seek out things to eat and buy at different levels. Got too many 1 star food options? Your posh tourists will turn down their noses. But if you only have 3 star options, you'll annoy tourists with 1 and 2 star tastes—adjust accordingly! [/p][p]
[/p][p]Tourist Thought Bubbles 💬 You'll see little dialogue options pop up when they're pleased, angry, or looking for something your town doesn't have. This is all tracked in the Tourist Tracker, and don't worry—you can turn it off if it's too much!
[/p][p][/p][p]New Tourist Types 🧑🏽‍🌾 Worried about how all the picky tourists will influence your early gameplay? Don't worry! We've added a new type, Easy-Goers, that are pretty easy to please, and they'll show up when you build a new town. You'll be able to recognize them from their snazzy straw hats! PLUS we'll now officially have tourists like Dinosaurs, Robots, and Clowns to the tourist pool—but they've got a special way to arrive...[/p][p]Transit Terminals 🌋🌕🎪 Want those exotic tourist types in your town? (That is: Mummies, Werewolves, Aliens, Robots, Dinosaurs, Ghosts and Clowns) Each of these will now come to your town from a specific spawner. Build it, and you'll have your town flooding with that tourist. Don't ever want Clowns? You can always build their spawner and just never turn it on!
[/p][p][/p][p]New Townies 🐺👽🦖 And of course, we always need new Townies to put to work be valued members of our community. There will be 7 new townies, one each for the exotic tourist types, and they'll help you invite more of their kind into your town with that recipe for their specific Transit Terminal.[/p][p][/p]
Industry
[p]Major Landmarks 🏟️♨️ We've added four new BIG buildings you can build to support tourism in your town. Build the Lighthouse, Conservatory, Hot Springs, and Stadium to boost your tourists' desire for exploration, rest, health, and entertainment. These take up a lot of room and even more complicated materials, so start carving out space!
[/p][p][/p][p]Tier 3 Industry 🏭 If you want to build those Major Landmarks, you're going to have to build a Factory first. This will help you create new Tier 3 items: the expandable Rod, Encabulator Cube, Reinforced Brackets, and Structural Plating, all of which will be used in large-scale building. To make them, you'll need a lot of Tier 2 materials, so it'll put your supply chain to the test!
[/p][p][/p][p]Yum Grease! 🛢️ Want to get things moving in your factory? Maybe a way to... grease the wheels? Put your Deep Sea Cutlets in the Fish thing, and you'll make YUM GREASE™️. We've also added three new recipes to shops, so you'll be able to make Lava Lamps, Dirty Mags, and Seafood Sticks. Yum![/p][p][/p]
And one more thing...
[p]Cliff Terraforming is here! ⛰️ Need more room for those major landmarks? TEAR DOWN THE CLIFFS! Once you've \[ REDACTED ], you'll be able to build and destroy cliffs to your heart's content across the main map![/p][p][/p][p]There's also a ton of QOL updates, and even some sneaky things we haven't even released to our Preview Branch yet! If you want to check it out now, you can opt in to our Preview Branch via the instructions below, which is where we test things out before they go live. Your save file will be safe, don’t worry! [/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Stay tuned on our social media for more deep dives about things in Tourist Trap, and we can’t wait to hear what you think of it![/p][p]Cheers,[/p][p]Emily and the Go-Go Town! team[/p]
