🔥🐲 Black Dragon Mage is part of Endless Replayability Fest!

The desert is never quite the same!

[h3]Endless Replayability Festival[/h3]

Black Dragon Mage is proudly participating in Steam's Endless Replayability Fest from May 13th to May 20th! Check out the demo if you haven't played it yet & make sure to wishlist the game.

In Black Dragon Mage, players get to experience varying stage hazards (maps use procedural generation) on every run, as well as randomized upgrades for unique combinations of active skills, passive upgrades and stats.

More of the roguelite goodness will follow in the full retail release of the game, which I'm excited to share with y'all when ready.

Currently in the works, soon in playtesting: Exciting boss battles to challenge your spellslinging skills and tactical finesse, further leaning into the thrilling switch between bullet heaven and bullet hell!

auto-fire & other improvements

[h2]there's a new auto-fire toggle for your main staff - which also enables auto-aim![/h2]

toggle it at any time using: middle mouse or TAB
or, on controller, using down on the d-pad or by clicking the right stick

  • added auto-fire
  • override auto-aim direction while auto-firing by tilting the right controller stick, or by regularly aiming and clicking with the mouse - this will keep auto-attack going, but allow you to be picky about whom to blast with your elemental staff! (thanks, Nosteru!)

  • improved: spawn timing
  • new display default: borderless fullscreen
  • updated: translations
  • improved: warning when leaving run and losing progress
  • bugfix: certain perks were buffing unrelated spells

Demo Bugfixes & Improvements

  • bugfix: music now loops properly, in some instances songs were transitioning too early
  • bugfix: solved issues with some ultrawide/widerscreen resolutions not displaying properly
  • bugfix: disabling screenshake did not affect some interactions in the hall of relics
  • bugfix: fixed some instances of the game becoming unresponsive in the background
  • improvement: all resolutions supported by the monitor should now be selectable
  • improvement: borderless fullscreen mode by default
  • improvement: game music keeps on running when the game is backgrounded

NextFest Demo Update

Dear arcanists, thanks for all the great feedback!

The current patch implements some of the recent suggestions, as well as some additional tweaks and fixes:

  • new spell upgrades
  • increased walk speed
  • increased enemy death animation speed
  • decreased loot drop delay
  • improved experience gain rate, so that upgrades are not as disruptive to gameplay
  • updated icons for some upgrades
  • bugfix: some enemies were disappearing too slowly
  • only lock cursor in fullscreen mode
