A Closer Look at the Dark Hours Early Access Roadmap!

With Dark Hours creeping closer to its Early Access launch, let's take a closer look at the upcoming roadmap and what’s coming to Dark Hours post-Early Access. Ready? Let’s break it down!

As the nights get longer, we’re bringing a terrifying wave of new content just in time for the holiday season:

  • New Character: Welcome a new member in the team!
  • New Monster: Watch out for this deadly new creature. Be ready to run.
  • New Places for the Heists: We’ve got some new spots lined up for you to break into.
  • New Gameplay Items & Co-op Features: Gear up with new items designed to help (or maybe even hinder!) your team’s survival.
  • New Game Mode: A thrilling new mode that will challenge cooperation.
  • New Missions & Objectives: Take on fresh challenges with updated mission and contract objectives.

As we move into 2025, we’ll be introducing more features and updates:
  • New Monsters: Even more terrifying creatures, each with unique abilities. And they’re not here to play...

  • Difficulty Levels: Challenge yourself with new difficulty settings.
  • New Gameplay Items & Co-op Features: More tools to keep you alive—or to throw your friends into the monster's clutches (your choice).
  • New Game Mode: A new mode that introduces even more ways to survive the night.
  • New Missions & Objectives: Face off against even more missions and objectives for your heist night.
  • Seasonal Event: New special event with limited-time content and unique rewards to unlock.
  • New Customization Options: Fresh customization items to personalize your character and make them stand out.

  • New Monsters & Variants: Just when you think you know what’s hunting you, we’re throwing in some wild card variants. Expect new creatures to haunt your nightmares.
  • Nightmare Difficulty Level: A brutal difficulty setting designed for the most hardcore robbers.
  • Infinite Mode: A mode where the horror never ends.
  • Personal Secret Objectives: Keep an eye on your teammates — some of them may have their own hidden goals now...
  • New Events: More unique in-game events to bring special content for a limited time.

Dark Hours Playtest session is coming, sign-up now!

Hey everyone,

This weekend, just a few days before the Early Access release of Dark Hours, we'll be hosting a Playtest session 🤩🤩

This is your one-off chance to find the purpose of the new items we teased in the latest demo update and get a closer look at the new monsters before the release 👻 And that's not all! You'll also have the opportunity to test new maps for the Auction House!

[h3]When, Where?[/h3]
The playtest session will kick off this Friday afternoon and run through the weekend.

You can sign up by clicking the 'Request Access' button on Dark Hours Steam page. Check it out here:

Once the playtest opens of Friday, you will immediately have access to the playtest branch of Dark Hours and be able to play.


Overall, you'll experience an early preview of most of the content coming in the Early Access of Dark Hours! You may encounter some bugs, crashes, or other issues, and we would greatly appreciate your feedback to help us improve the game.

Dark Hours has a dedicated Discord server for players, I invite you to come, we'll open a Playtest Channel for you to share your feedback! 😁

Patch note #11 for Dark Hours Demo (v0.5D.12313)

[h3]Gameplay:[/h3]
  • Change: Balanced items spawn points in the level for a better immersion.
  • Fix: Fixed a bug that prevent objectives to be completed if a second contract was selected with the same kind of objectives.
  • Fix: Prevent some cases where players could throw objects outside the level from vents.
  • Fix: The hud of CCTV camera was only displayed correctly the first time it was used.

[h3]Level Design:[/h3]
  • Change: The duration of the cryo trap visual effects is now shorter.
  • Fix: Fixed glitch where the world appeared incomplete for half a second before cutscenes began.

[h3]Interface:[/h3]
  • Change: Replacing the red cross icon by a "waiting" icon during contract selection for better understanding
  • Change: Some changes in UI including recap timeline and contract selection.
  • Change: Better tweaking of graphics quality settings (Low, Medium, High) to optimize performance
  • Fix: Better feedback on color picker

[h3]General:[/h3]
  • Fix: Some screamers that diseappeared are now back in the game.
  • Fix: In russian, changed some texts for Yes/No selection for toggle crouch feature, replacing the previous True/False texts.
  • Change: We are changing the version number format for players to be able to identify more easily the demo version (0.5D.XXX) against the prologue version (0.5P.XXX)

Patch note #10 for Dark Hours Demo - version 0.5.12281D

Hey everyone!

Yesterday, we announced that Dark Hours will be released on October 24th, 2024. To keep the good news coming, we're excited to share an update on the demo!

This update add 5 new missions objectives, the brand new full heist night game loop, giving you an overview at some of the content that will be available at the Early Access launch.
We also have focus this update on fixing bugs, and add new gameplay features.

Feel free to share your feedback on the Steam forums. There's also a Discord server available if you're looking to connect with other players or want to report any feedback, bugs, or suggestions! We hope you will enjoy this update!

[h3]Gameplay:[/h3]
  • New: You can get a preview of what is the 'heist night', the game loop for chaining different missions consecutively.
  • New: You can now select your contract from different mission
  • New: We have added 2 objectives types, "Find and steal" & "Destroy the evidences", to the existing "Steal the vault"
  • New: We have added 5 new missions and their objects to steal
  • New: New playable items: some items are a preview of what could be useful for the next monsters of the Early Access
  • New: One new cryogenic trap in the level, that can replace the previous gaz trap.
  • New: You can push your friend when he is frozen. (Small tip: The hairdryer should keep your friends warm)
  • New: A frozen player can break if hit too many times the walls: be careful to not break your friend!
  • New: Customization is coming! You'll be able to change the colors of your thieves and see what customizations will be unlockable in Early Access.
  • Change: The camera transitions from TPS to FPS should be smoother.
  • Change: You can now trigger push buttons by shooting tranquilizer darts
  • Fix: A fixed physics bug could occur, trapping players in walls or the floor.
  • Fix: Dropping the crown in the van is no longer considered as not having the crown in the objectives.
  • Fix: Players would sometimes get stuck in a ragdoll position after a KO; this is no longer the case.
  • Fix: When holding a gate and another player presses the button to raise the door, is no longer killing the player holding the door.
  • Fix: The grabbing of key items, especially the exit key, was difficult, so we made them easier to grab.
  • Fix: Fixed post-process effect for the push action.
  • Fix: Fixed flash post-process effect.
  • Fix: The ability to trigger the hacking device minigame alone while playing in multiplayer.
  • Fix: The arrows minigame UI would sometimes remain displayed while no more in the minigame action.
  • Fix: Flipping the cutout right before the “cut the power” event occurs will no more cancel the event.

[h3]Monsters:[/h3]
  • New: You can now break the “Statue” monster.
  • Fix: Monsters would sometimes get stuck (especially the statue at the entrance of the doors), which led to players being trapped in the room without being able to do anything.

[h3]Interface:[/h3]
  • New: An error code is displayed if the lobby is unreachable because of a network error
  • Change: Removed the blur when inventory is open.
  • Change: The van cinematic can only be skipped once all players have requested it.
  • Change: The items have new icons
  • Fix: The lobby password field is now properly displayed as not modifiable

[h3]General[/h3]
  • New languages available: Ukrainian, Thai, Indonesian, Italian, LATAM Spanish, and Portuguese (Portugal)

[h3]Known bugs[/h3]
  • Early players reports of objectives not always updated even when the objective items are put in the teambag
  • Some physics bugs can still occur
  • Some physics objects need to be tweaked
  • Some UI buttons are not clickable if the resolution of the game does not match the desktop resolution
