Hi everyone!
Another patch is incoming:

Changelog v-316-0d48b59:
- Improvement: Better graphics driver selection when starting the game for the first time
- Improvement: Online maps are shown first in the custom map menu
- Bug fix: Map gen on islands could take very long (especially extreme)
- Bug fix (maybe): Resolutions on mac sometimes wrong
- Bug fix: Engine and skin building might not appear when playing online only. Now, the engines building appears after connecting to 1 signpost, the skin building after connecting to 5 and the perk building after connecting to 10 (as before)
- Improvement: Lobby browser now doesn’t show full lobbies anymore
- Bug fix: Toy engine is allowed to crash in the credits for good
- Bug fix (maybe): Some players were not able to open the lobby browser or enter any kind of online lobby - let us know whether this fixed your case
- Balance: A slot at the slot station has now 1 - max 4 tries until you win

Patch

Hey everyone!
Base on the most pressuring feedback, we provide another patch! For those playing with the toy engine, we tried to make the game less frustrating since bolts should not be removed anymore. Also savegames with the toy engine can be loaded multiple times.
Above that and since the game is not everywhere stable yet, we added a savegame recovery functionality, allowing to restore savegames after the game crashed. For that, just restart the game and you should be asked whether you want to restore the last save.

- Improvement: Improved auto-graphics driver detection when starting the game; also fixes also the safe mode for on linux/SteamOS
- Improvement: Added some missing font characters
- Improvement: All D-Pad keys now by default for bot shortcuts (help is now left stick press)
- Change: Lobby by default offline (except when created via matchmaking)
- Bug fix: Maps with cassette had wrong bolt statistics at a station
- Bug fix: Publishing maps was not always possible
- Bug fix: Wagon printer were releasing wagon in biome transitions that could not be picked up

Unrailed 2 Community Update: Bugs & Bug fixes

[h3]Heya engineers![/h3]

First of all thanks a lot for everyone that already got the game and is busy building some train tracks! With the game just out we are getting a ton of feedback and try our best get to it as quick as possible. In the following we'll list what we've already added, what bugs we've fixed, problems and possible workarounds and which bugs are on our radar.

[h3]New Feature: Button Remapping[/h3]
One of the big feature requests we've gotten so far is the support for button remapping. We've just now implemented a first version that enables you to remap the most important buttons! You can find more info about it here.

[h3]Fixed Bugs[/h3]
We're currently hard at work to address the bug-reports we are getting. We've already pushed a few hotfixes (which you can review in detail here, here,here and here). In short, they address the following issues among others:
  • Crash when not accepting the privacy policy
  • Crash fix for a certain languages (probably in the menu)
  • Polish font rendering issues
  • Certain usernames causing crashes
  • The safe-mode option not showing up on mac
  • A few localization issues

[h3]Potential Workarounds if the Game Does Not Start or Runs Slowly[/h3]
Here are some known issues we're seeing and potential workarounds you can try:

Error message from windows when starting "Video card does not support Direct3D 12": We suggest trying to run the "Safe Mode" starting option that is offered via Steam (after pressing the play button in steam).
  • If the safe mode is running, you will be able to change your video options and especially the driver being used. We suggest trying out all drivers listed (e.g. DirectX12, Vulkan, OpenGL, OpenGL + Angle). Note that you need to start the game in normal mode again to apply the driver settings. Very old hardware probably only runs via OpenGL or OpenGL + Angle.
  • If the safe mode is not running, reach out to us with your system specs. We need to check on an individual basis if we can fix it or whether the hardware is not supported anymore.
Playing the game locally is running slow and laggy: We suggest trying to see whether this issue persists when lowering the video settings (and especially disable VSync!). If the issue doesn't go away, please reach out to us and we check on an individual basis.

[h3]China-Specific Issues[/h3]

If you are playing the game from China we have received reports of issues regarding the online networking. Here are the issues we are currently working on and some workarounds that might already help you now:

Game laggy after connecting to an online session/ Inability to enter non-accelerated online lobbies after activating VPN services like UU Accelerator: We're working on a general solution, but this will take some time. As background information, the game only needs a connection to a server to establish the initial connection and for listing rooms. Afterwards we send data via peer-to-peer (P2P) without the need of any servers from us. Only if a P2P connection fails, a relay server is being used. Thus, if playing with friends abroad (e.g. non-China to China), using an accelerator might help. When playing with your friends in China, it is helpful if either all friends all use the same accelerator or none use it at all.

Can't start the game because of no connection (warning the the splash screen):
The game only needs to access the internet ONCE when starting the first time. No internet connection is needed anymore for playing the game locally.
If you have internet and still get this message your firewall might block the connection or even an accelerator or VPN. We suggest checking your firewall settings and trying without and with accelerator or VPN. We're working on a solution to reduce this issue. You can test whether you can reach our servers by checking if https://u2.unrailed-online.com loads in your browser.

[h3]Bugs on Our Radar[/h3]
Finally, here are all the rest of the known bugs we have not fixed yet, but we will tackle them as soon as possible:
  • Problems connecting controllers/ game freezing when plugging in a controller
  • Problems with the bot finding paths/ adding resources to wagons
  • Players running into invisible walls
  • Object outlines offset on Linux
  • Progress being lost due to the game crashing
  • Game freezing randomly
  • No text on buttons displayed in the main menu
  • Wagons disappearing in a station
  • Game saves sometimes not being created when leaving a game
  • The Fashion Express in the main menu not unlocking
  • Declining and later accepting the privacy policy can lead to players not being able to play online games

Our focus right now is 100% on fixing bugs, but once things are stable we've got a number of other features we're looking to add throughout early access, you can take a look at our What to Expect From Early Access post.
