The rehearsal room is getting crowded

Hello fellow musicians,

if you are still looking for band members to play with or if you were waiting for your friends playing on console to join your band, the wait is over.

With the console release of Disaster Band, available not only on PC, but also on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, we welcome new aspiring musicians to the Disaster Band family.

Can you feel the tension?

The support act is finishing their set. The crowd can't wait for you to enter the stage and give them the performance of a lifetime.

This is how we feel at this moment.

In just two days we will lift the curtain on the console versions of Disaster Band - we are totally stoked!

We can't wait to see the wonderfully weird chaos you will produce together with your fellow console performers in full cross-platform-multiplayer.

Show the world, that playing wrong can feel so right!

Get ready for encore perfomances

Hello musicians,

we know that the 20 songs included in the base version of Disaster Band are just the tip of the iceberg.

And we are convinced that you have some all-time favorites from all styles of music that you would like to see in Disaster Band or you would love to share with all the other members of the Disaster Band family.

Mod.io is the right spot for you. If you are looking for new songs to add to Disaster Band, you are welcome to browse the options available there.

Or share your beautiful creations as MIDI tracks with the community, so can be imported and played with Disaster Band - on PC as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, when the console versions are released on July 11.

With you the fun won't stop!

We'll see you on stage!

Tour Update

To all band members old and young,

thank you for your feedback to our latest update.

It means the world to us and it feels good to see that your passion for music games aligns with ours.

In the next few weeks, we will focus on the console versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, but will take care of critical bugs that the new update might have caused, of course.
We want to make sure that we can give the fresh members of the Disaster Band family the same experience that you can enjoy on PC already.
In particular in terms of multiplayer and the cross-platform-compatibility, so everybody can join and jam with everybody, regardless of their preferred platform.

We'll see you on the Disaster stage!

General Improvements

  • Instruments will not continue to play if the button is held at the end of a song.
  • It is now possible to pause a song in Single Player.
  • Do not evaluate user input when interaction is blocked in 'Music Arena'. Instead use the perfect pitch so it is less bad for other players in the multiplayer session.

Steam Invites / Friend list features
  • Players can invite their friends to join a session. Invites can be accepted from anywhere in the game.
  • Players can now join friends using the Steam Overlay.

MOD.IO

  • We now officially support mod.io in the game. You can download and browse mods using the mod.io browser. All songs that are currently on Steam Workshop will stay in the game and continue to be fully playable. But they are not available in cross-platform-multiplayer.

New Controller Input Modes

  • Auto-Tune Hero -> Player just have to hit the timing of the note, the pitch is always perfect
  • Guided Chaos -> Players have to move the stick in the direction of the next note before playing it
  • Freestyle Fiasco -> Hands on direct input mapping of the movement of the stick

  • For each controller mode there is now a distinct leaderboard!
  • Players are asked to select their preferred controller assistance type after the Start Screen (to change this players can always go back to the start screen).

Improvement of the previous Controller Support:

  • There is now an option to enable controller vibration in the general settings.
  • We now also support PS5 controllers.
  • Appropriate controller icons are being used everywhere.
  • When the back button is pressed in the lobby, the pause menu now opens.
  • Leaderboard tables can now be scrolled conveniently with a controller.
  • Display controls footer after closing the "Delete a save game dialog".

User Interface Improvements

  • Set the font size for the player name in the result screen to '22'. This ensures that player names with 16 characters like 'WMWMWMWMWMWMWMWM' can be displayed.
  • Auto size lobby badge for extra long user names.
  • No longer display "No Games Found" right away when opening the session table, only show it if there are actually no games found after one second.
  • Host would not start with 100% accuracy.
  • Expandable menu in lobby on the right side would add 'host' suffix to player name when playing in single player.
  • Show feedback notification after multiplayer shutdown or disconnect after kick.
  • Increase the width of the player name in the menu so the full name can be displayed.
  • Add an options menu with kick and report option to the band tab in the lobby for each connected player.
  • Use the existing scroll view handling for settings entry scrolling.
  • Scroll the settings menu to the top when initializing so the selected element is visible.
  • Always select the first button when the menu is opened.
  • Update lobby badge for newer instruments.
  • Increase length for normal splash screen as VFX effect got cut off.

Bug Fixes

  • When a client has already returned to the lobby while the host selects 'Return to lobby' in the pause menu while being in the music arena, the client would show an infinite loading screen as the scene to unload is not valid.
  • Disconnect voice-line was audible when the local player got kicked.
  • Region badge in lobby now shows "automatic" instead of broken translation key if the automatic region is unknown because it has recently been added to Fusion.
