Dwarf News: Update #3

Hello fellow Dwarf emperors! We'd like to share what's been going on for the past two weeks as it's been a long two weeks for us.

Sorry I haven't gotten back with an update last week. My job has been a bit crazy since they bought a new machine and I've been training on it and haven't been able to do what I want with the game; however, a lot has been done regardless!

Update News
Artwork & Store Page
• Artist has finished some of our artwork and we've been updating the store page with the new logo!
  • Updated some of the screenshots to match what's currently IN the game as per last update with the UI changes and dwarf behavior updates.
  • New trailer video is being made and will be up soon!

Game News
General (All)
• Added more achievements! (The achievements will be on Steam soon)
  • Added perk requirement: area, floor and floor resets. What does this mean? It means you need to meet the required area number the dwarves have to mine to, along with unlocking the required floor and how many times that floor has been reset. Resetting is still being worked on and I want it to be worth doing because there won't be any more materials left to mine.
  • Updated almost all perks to make the grind sweet. As I mentioned last week I want to feel like progression is there so I feel it's balanced for now. We'll see after more testing though!
Fixes (All)
• Fixed placeable perk not disappearing after purchase.
  • Fixed materials in Dwarven Book not showing when unlocking new things that requires that material.
  • Fixed placeables offset when placing them on a new floor.
  • Fixed not being able to use coal and other sources (other than Dirt, Stone, Mud) as a fuel source.

Updates might be coming every other week so don't feel like nothing is going on. There's always something going on! Thanks for reading and see you in the next one. \o

Dwarf News: Update #2

Ready for another update? Well, I am! In this update I'll be going through what we've done this week, updates on artwork and more!

News #2

I really didn't enjoy the look of the old UI artwork. It didn't fit any of the theme I'm trying to go for. But here we are again, with a new UI and all! With all the UI changes, I've pretty much increased the scale of all windows for higher resolutions too.

All current sound work is completed. Furnace, Crusher and Fusion now has sound as well as music and UI sound(s).

Dwarves can now pick up LOOT! Yup, new Behavior and all.

Started working on cost of perks and other unlockables. Currently all placeables but a few are finished with cost and some odd perks. Next week I should have all of them finished and ready to grind for! Side note: I don't want everybody to grind the content within a day so I'm trying to balance all the costs out as best as I can to work with fluid progression.

    Known Issues
  • When at 1280x720 resolution some windows will not move by their top bar. This is a resolution issue itself, something I've been trying to fix.
  • There was a rare bug causing a dwarf to become idle and stay there. I have yet to recreate this for weeks now. I might add a Dwarf reset just in case.

Dwarf News: Update #1

It's time for an update on what we're doing! This was supposed to be posted yesterday as an end of the week, beginning of a new week thing, but there was a lot of editing happening.
A Big Thank You
First off, I would like to say thank you to all who has wishlisted our game. It feels good! That being said every week we're going to try and post a news update. This way all of you are still in the loop and don't feel discouraged about us and how we operate.

Update #1

In this update we've hired a sound artist for in-game sounds and GFX artist for the Store Page and our company logo. With new sound additions, I've also been doing optimizations and a bit more polishing to the audio for a better experience!

Side note: I forgot all about adding the different Dwarf body types. This was supposed to be added before store page went public. I do apologize! This has been added and in the video below you can see all the new additions!

I most definitely believe in first impressions and I'm trying to deliver on them!
Sound
Additions
  • Added Dwarf Walking Sound
  • Added Dwarf Mining Sound. There's four unique sounds for both soft materials and hard materials.
  • Added Dwarf Attack Hit Sound.
  • Sounds created for: Background Music, Furnace, Crusher, Fusion Machine and enemy hit. These are still in the works but they're in!

    In-Game Audio
Let's face it. I've muted idler sounds because they aren't needed, right? Or just plain annoying. To counter this annoyance I'm looking for ways to make it.. well, not annoying.
  • When Dwarves are out of camera view it will lower the audio. If far away it will mute the audio for that Entity. More updates to this in the future.
Optimizations
These weren't a major issue, nor a big impact on gameplay. I wanted to polish this so everybody can have a great experience when progressing further.

    Additions
  • Added if tiles and entities are out of camera view it will unload those tiles and entities. This was tested with a crazy amount of floors to test performance.

    Fixes
  • Fixed Dwarves causing lag due to their collision. This lag was tested with a lot of dwarves in the game to see how performance would do.
  • Fixed potential lower framerate when there's a lot of textures being rendered.
  • Optimized code for performance.
AI
Dwarf
  • Random Dwarf body type will be randomly selected on spawn.
  • Increased Stamina gain to 0.5 per mouse click when clicking on a dwarf as they are resting.

Enemy
    Additions
  • Added World Loot to enemies.
  • Slimes now drop slime items.

    Fixes
  • Fixed error when trying to retrieve enemy's Current Area
General Quality of Life (QoL)
Additions
  • Added hover image so you know what tile you're hovering.
  • Made UI buttons bigger and more "Hey, click on me!"

    Fixes
  • Fixed Placeable Objects placement.

The video below will show the new sounds and the camera position rendering & audio lowering.

Welcome to Dwarves Mining Idle!

Welcome to Dwarves Mining Idle!

We welcome you to freely wishlist our upcoming title! We have a lot of content in store for our little gem and we cannot wait for everybody to grind! We're a team of two that work hard to try and give a good experience. With that in mind, please understand most of what you see will be updated or become better.

As an avid Idler gamer myself, I wanted to work with my partner to explore ways we can make our own Idler -- but better and more filling! In Dwarves Mining Idle, there shouldn't be a feeling where there's a giant wall you're going to hit during the grind. That's just boring! There's plenty of mechanics and small amount of micro-managing to keep you entertained and there's plenty of Idle for when your entertainment needs a rest for the day.

Hope to see you soon!
