Archaeology Major Update v0.3.00

Archaeology Major Update v0.3.00

Archaeology brings new additions to Dwarves Mining Idle. Archaeology is already unlocked and you can access it by clicking the Archaeology Book on the top right.

Each new area created on a floor will have a 5% chance to create an Archaeology tile. Once that tile is destroyed, it will add a random fragment to a random set.

  • Added Archaeology.
  • Started on adding green (i) Informational buttons to the game. Archaeology Book currently has the first one at the top of the book window, the rest will be added later.

  • Added Archaeology Book. You can access Archaeology through this book on the top right.
  • Added a new Buff System.
  • Added new Tile: Archaeology.
  • Added Gnome Set
  • Added Artifact Set
  • Added Mammoth Tusk
  • Added Ancient Boar Tusk
  • An Archaeology tile has a 5% chance to spawn in an area within all floors.
  • Once an Archaeology tile has been destroyed, it will be randomized on which fragment you will receive. Each set has specific fragments.
  • Each set requires its own fragments for completion. Once you require a fragment, you can click on a Set image to assign the fragment to a collection.
  • Gnome and Artifact sets are On-Going sets. Meaning, they can be repeated and the rewards are alternated.
  • Mammoth Tusk and Ancient Boar Tusk are Permanent sets. Meaning, they can only be completed once but yield a bigger reward.

  • Slightly Decreases Pump Timer.

  • 15% Reduced Dwarf Dig Timer Buff

  • You can activate an acquired buff by navigating to Artifact Set and clicking the Buffs button.
  • Only one of the same buff can be activated at a time.

  • Permanently adds one extra Floor Point on reset.

  • When a buff is active for boosting Dwarves stats, you will be able to view the stat increase in any Dwarf Stat Window.

  • Fixed an input error when the game loads.
  • Fixed Pump liquid check erroring because it couldn't find any tiles under it, but there's always tiles under.


What's Next?

Unannounced game additions, more quality of life updates and more information within the game to disclose how things work. This will all be before The Surface update which is our last Major Update before 1.0. However, before we start on that update I'd like to get rolling on things that weren't included in the roadmap, but are going to be some exciting additions to the game.

Archaeology Update Progress


Currently, we have all the mechanics done. What's left? We have to finish up the other Archaeology sets and their rewards. This shouldn't take too much longer. On a side note, I did come across a bug with the Pump that will be fixed in the next major update.

Dwarves are helping us test the Archaeology tiles. Only dirt tiles can be an archaeology tile. The image below is me testing this out on all dirt tiles.

Dwarf Weekend News #7

It's yet another weekend where it's time to tell everybody what's been going on! This past week we've been doing a lot of bug fixes and updates to help user-experience be a bit more pleasant. At the start of playing a new game, you should see mining is faster than how it was prior and less interference with Experience Gain Perk increasing Max Experience.

Well, what's going on?


[h2]Archaeology[/h2]
We're about to start the process of hiring an artist to create the artwork for the Archaeology update. This will take an unknown amount of time (we'll provide an actual time later) when the new artwork will be completed. In the meantime I can begin creating all the necessary mechanics and features. It's going to be a decently sized major update in the next step for our Roadmap.

[h2]Roadmap[/h2]
We're way ahead of our schedule. I'm super happy about this because I mainly thought we were going to be behind schedule. This allows us to continue to work on newer projects, knowing we're very caught up on Dwarves Mining Idle. You can expect the next few things in the Roadmap earlier than anticipated. The Surface being the biggest update.

[h2]In the meantime[/h2]
While we all wait for Roadmap Major Updates, I have plans to polish the game up more and release more regular updates that were never included in the game's idea board. I don't want to spoil anything since it'll ruin any future surprises we have planned.

What's Next?

After Archaeology, we're going to wait awhile, dish out bug fixes and eventually get to the newer parts of the roadmap. Now, the 'Big Drills' was a very early split decision so it might be skipped entirely as we have nothing for it currently.

Regular Update v0.2.50


After some discussions on Discord there are some changes to Dwarf Max Experience formula and how tile health scales based on Dwarf count. There will be more changes to formulas and other game features to make user experience better in the future.

  • Tile health is now only scalable when you have 20 or more Dwarves in total.
  • Max Experience increase will no longer account for spent points in the Experience Gain perk. It will increase 2.5 + (upgradeValue + expVal).

    [h2]Dwarven Book[/h2]
  • When putting Entity Points into Experience Gain, Dwarves max experience will no longer increase by an extordinary amount to compensate for points being put into this perk. Max Experience will will increase by 0.1
  • cost.

    [h2]Workbench Dwarf Item Info Window[/h2]
  • When upgrading a Dwarf in the workbench and you have the item info window opened it will now update the stats as the Dwarf's item is being upgraded.
World Generation

    [h2]New Area Tiles[/h2]
    NOTE: Tile health change will work on your NEXT created area. It doesn't update tile health in already existing areas.
  • Tile health will no longer scale to how many Dwarves are on a floor. It will now scale to how many Dwarves are currently participating in Mining on that floor. This prevents tile health being high when not all Dwarves are mining on a floor.
  • Reduced Dirt and Mud max health from 1 to 0.5 with less than 20 Dwarves. It will scale back to 1 when you have 20 or more Dwarves.
  • Reduced Stone, Coal and Copper max health from 2 to 1.1 with less than 20 Dwarves. It will scale back to 2 when you have 20 or more Dwarves.
  • Reduced Diamond and Uranium max health from 20 to 8 with less than 20 Dwarves. It will scale back to 20 when you have 20 or more Dwarves.

  • Fixed an error when hovering a tile after the game finished loading.
