[Dev Note] Light; The Path We Build Together

Hey there, Survivors!
It’s been a while since the Tech Demo, but we’re back with a new Dev Note!
In the meantime, we’ve been working on a ton of new stories we can’t wait to share with you.

Today, we’re diving into the Pleasure District—one of the key areas you might remember from the Tech Demo. We’ll be taking a closer look at its deeper setting and background. Even before REMORE was swallowed by the Dark Shroud, the district was already steeped in corruption.
Let’s take a look at the deep-rooted darkness that’s been festering there.
Import Goods Control Act: The Origins of the Pleasure District
REMORE is a city built around the Memolith. Within its walls, people once lived peaceful lives, basking in the light of Memolith and the blessings of the Path of Light that carried its radiance throughout the city.

And naturally, wherever there’s a system that benefits people, there are those who control it. The Church of the Sun was a religious group that oversaw the Memolith and the Path of Light system. They maintained the Path and, in return, collected a kind of “Light Tax” from the people. To prevent the Memolith from falling into corruption, they also created strict laws — “Divine Laws”— that were used to control the populace. In reality, these laws brought suffering and oppression to the citizens of REMORE.

One such law was the Import Goods Control Act, which required inspections on all items brought in from outside the city. Officially, it was meant to protect citizens from “harmful goods,” but in practice, it was just a way to impose extortionate inspection fees and squeeze the merchants dry. Those with connections to the government managed to stay afloat, but independent traders were either forced to join the merchant alliance or leave the city altogether.

Driven out by this law, many crossed the river and began building new homes outside the city walls. Since they were beyond the reach of the Path of Light, they claimed they were free from the Light Tax and Divine Laws. Their numbers grew—and for a while, everything settled down.

But that brief happiness… soon turned into a horrifying tragedy.
The Day of the Crimson Lily: The Birth of the Slums and the Pleasure District
To the Church of the Sun, the existence of a group that had broken away from the “Blessing” of the Path of Light and rejected their sacred laws was intolerable. And on top of that, these outsiders were cutting into profits from the Light Tax and the Import Goods Control Act.
That, of course, was unacceptable.

So, the Church made a declaration: even those who had left the city were still subject to REMORE’s laws. With that, they officially labeled the breakaways as criminals.

With the legal justification in place, all that was left was punishment. The Church of the Sun launched a surprise military crackdown. It was brutal. The riverside settlement—the home the outcasts had built—was devastated beyond repair. On that day, the blood of the fallen stained the lilies red. People would later remember it as “The Day of the Crimson Lily.”

From then on, the survivors had few options left.

Some chose to submit to the Church’s power. They stayed in the ruined settlement and rebuilt under the Church’s watch, establishing what is now known as the Slums. They opened up the Path of Light and even built a church, falling back in line with the Church’s laws.

But others still refused to give in. They moved again—this time to a place the Path of Light hadn’t yet reached. There, they built a wall to separate themselves from the Slums and began carving out a new life. Through smuggling, vice, and backroom bribes to the Church, they managed to survive and maintain control over their own space.

And that was the beginning of what would become the Pleasure District.
Crimson Lilies and the Graveyard of Nameless Headstones
After the “Day of the Crimson Lily,” something strange began to grow. No one knows exactly where it came from— whether it sprouted naturally after the tragedy or was brought in from the outside—but in the aftermath of that horrific day, a crimson flower started appearing, as if stained by the blood of the fallen. People began calling it the Crimson Lily.

The name “Day of the Crimson Lily” itself was also a subtle way to refer to the massacre without directly confronting the Church of the Sun’s brutality.

The Crimson Lily turned out to be a potent plant, inducing hallucinations and intense pleasure. Before long, it became the signature product of the Pleasure District. For a place that thrived on illegal dealings, this lily was a goldmine. Even people inside the city walls—far from the Church’s reach in the quasi-lawless Pleasure District—would seek it out for a taste of its forbidden ecstasy.

Ironically, the very flower said to be dyed with the blood of victims became the lifeline for the survivors—feeding their bellies and fueling the district’s underground economy.

Meanwhile, those who died on the Day of the Crimson Lily were labeled as “Heretics” for refusing to follow the Church’s laws. Even holding proper funerals for them was forbidden. So, the survivors took matters into their own hands—burying their family and neighbors in a clearing near the forest. To protect them from further persecution, they left behind only blank headstones, with no names or markings.

As time passed, more and more of the dead from the Pleasure District were laid to rest in that same place. Eventually, it became known as the Graveyard of Nameless Headstones.

People would leave white lilies at the graves—not Crimson Lilies—hoping that those buried there could be freed from the tragic past of the district. Even after the explosion of the Memolith, the white lilies still remain, quietly blooming in that graveyard to this day.

That’s it for today’s look into the sad history behind the creation of the Pleasure District, long before the explosion of the Memolith. We’ll be back next time with more lore to share.

Thanks again for reading, Survivors!

REMORE: INFESTED KINGDOM Tech Demo Feedback Live Stream Answers List

Greetings Survivors of REMORE,

These are the Feedback and Answers that were presented during our Tech Demo Feedback Live Stream.
Thank you everyone for participating and for all your amazing inquiries.
Q. The blacksmith's growth curve needs to be adjusted.
A. We felt that the part where you have to [Disassemble] first to get the recipe was not a good experience, so we created a new concept called 'Restoration' and modified it so that you can immediately craft weapons when the blacksmith is unlocked. Additionally, since a recipe is immediately added to the blacksmith when a new weapon is acquired, we have modified it to provide greater freedom to create the weapon you want.
Q. Need more detailed information about Boss gimmick.
A. The Boss on the Tech Demo was originally for internal test only. We decided last minute to include her in the Tech Demo to see how this new boss would be perceived. We have made adjustments to her gimmick after the Tech Demo. On the upcoming version, improvements have been made to make it easier to understand through buff descriptions, etc.
Q. Need rebalancing of tools.
A. For now, since there are limitations on inventory during an expedition, we are looking at it as a means to deal with high difficulty combat due to unexpected variables. After observing it a bit further, we concluded that there is room to adjust the limit on the number of items held in the inventory if necessary.
Q. Character rebalancing is needed (especially Inquisitor).
A. The Inquisitor has been completely transformed into a semi-tank and counter-dealer who performs [Weapon Guard] with a two-handed mace in the upcoming version change. The internal evaluation is that he has become quite fun, and he has been given unique abilities, including the ability to “Taunt” enemies. Please take a look when the upcoming version drops!
Q. The ambush was forced that the game lost its original feel (Early Access).
A. For each map, we've separated the level design into various categories: maps where it's efficient to hold out while lighting up the 'Guiding Pillar', maps where it's efficient to reduce the number of enemies through ambush, maps where it's efficient to engage directly and use area skills, and maps where strong single attacks are efficient due to many enemies such as Blubber. We plan to further refine the balancing in the upcoming version. If you still feel more balancing is needed after the upcoming version change, please let us know!
Q. Disassembling multiple items in 1 click is needed.
A. We decided to revamp the Blacksmith after the Tech Demo, please look forward to it during the upcoming version change!
Q. Sometimes enemy respawns even though pillar is bright.
A. As a reward for the newly added [Restoration] feature, the ability to permanently prevent respawns by lighting up a large guiding pillar will be added to Memolith in the upcoming version update.
Q. I can't go forward because Harlot's attack charmed every character, this needs to be fixed.
A. The charm effect can be removed by throwing a pebble at an ally! However, if the enemy throws a charm bottle 'as soon as the door opens while it's the user's turn', this is a bug, so if you can kindly send us a video or save file of this happening, we will check it out. Separately, in the upcoming version, if possible, we will try to modify it so that pebble can be placed on maps where the charm effect can be applied.
Q. Some self-buff skills that earns the “effect next turn” needs to be reworked.
A. Almost all memory skills have been renewed for the upcoming version update, and we agree that the 'next turn effect' part is not very advantageous due to the nature of the current game. We would appreciate it if you could give us feedback on the newly revamped skills when the version update drops!
Q. Portrait does not match the game.
A. As the overall narrative of the game has changed, we are also preparing a renewed version of the portrait images to match. We will return with a more refined look.
Q. Need more quest so users can select and focus on something.
A. It's a design based on freedom of play, where you can either go straight to Boss if you want (higher difficulty), or you can collect every type of weapon and Memolith on every map if you want, leaving it up to the player to decide which way to play.
Q. Need some kind of notice so you can check where the exit of the map.
A. For the time being, you can check the general direction of the route through the map and the green highlighted exit areas. Currently it is difficult to prioritize functions that provide more convenience in the upcoming version due to time limits. However, if more people feel inconvenient by it, we will consider a long-term improvement direction in the future.
Q. The roles of right-click and left-click are confusing.
A. This part is a problem that has been caused by the long game development period and the inconvenient lack of a unified tone when creating each UI. Unifying it requires a considerable amount of time and money, so we have put it on the back burner when it comes to improving the game's completeness for “right now.” However, we will think about a way to organize it before the official full release.
Q. Need to use more keyboard buttons during battle. Like 'w' as switching weapon. (No information on game)
A. We sympathize with the inconveniences that have been frequently raised even within the dev team. However, given the current inventory structure, assigning a separate quick slot or hotkey is not a simple matter, so we will consider whether there is a more convenient method at the time of the official release.
Q. There is a bug which makes your inventory 197 and can't use items from the bag.
A. Found out it's a bug and we fixed it. Sorry for your inconvenience.
Q. Unique characteristic is gone that don't have to use other characters rather than first 3.
A. Including the major renewal of the Inquisitor, the characteristic of all characters has been enhanced in the upcoming version. Please check on the upcoming version update and leave us feedback!
