Take to the Skies of Azoria in Fae Farm's new DLC, launching today

We all love a cozy farming simulator, don't we? I actually find Stardew Valley a little stressful because I always try to min-max my crops, and the fact speedruns for it exist shock me. Still, there are plenty of others out there that offer a more laid back pace, like Fae Farm, which has just launched its latest DLC, Skies of Azoria. You can discover a whole new region up in the clouds in this new update.

Welcome to the Skies of Azoria!

Good news, Fae Friends - Fae Farm’s second DLC releases today! Skies of Azoria takes you up into the clouds to the new realm of Skyvale, where you’ll find charming new characters and magical new adventures. If you've not joined us in Fae Farm yet, this new DLC is included in the Deluxe Edition of Fae Farm (currently 40% off on Steam).

After receiving a mysterious letter and growing the seeds it comes with, you will find yourself in Windwaven, the town center of Skyvale and your hub for the new content. Here you’ll meet new townsfolk characters starting with your guide Kestrel, as well as the enigmatic Sprite of Skyvale, Gusto! As you help Gusto with their crisis of confidence, you’ll journey across the three new regions that make up Skyvale, and dive into the all-new Star Vaults to recover Fallen Stars hidden away there.

Star Vaults are a new activity coming in Skies of Azoria, a new take on a dungeon exploring new ideas and inspired by great feedback from base game players. Accessible via gates dotted around Skyvale, after you manage to open them up with Gryff, you’ll find a curious new celestial realm full of puzzles that’ll test your mind, your might, your spells, and your platforming skills. Different gates will open up each day, and while some Fallen Stars might be easier to find, some are further from the beaten track, involve following a trail of clues, or even require using a powerful new potion to discover. Also found in the Star Vaults are a cast of new Jumbles that you might be able to use to your advantage…

While on your adventures, you’ll discover new crops believed long lost with Finn, brew new potions both helpful and expressive with Herron, and barter for fashionable new outfits and wings with Phoebe. And who knows, maybe you’ll even find a new love interest!

For those new to Fae Farm or still progressing through the main story, the Skies of Azoria content is woven into a few key points of the main game’s story, and for those who have already completed the base game, you’ll be able to dive right into the new content.

We hope you enjoy your adventures in the wonderful Skies of Azoria, and as always, we’ll be keeping an eye out for your feedback on all our usual channels. See you in Skyvale!

Dauntless and Fae Farm dev Phoenix Labs the latest to be hit by layoffs, cancelling a game mere weeks from its reveal

Yet another video game developer has been hit by layoffs. This time it's the Dauntless and Fae Farm developer Phoenix Labs, which posted its announcement regarding restructuring on LinkedIn late last night.

The statement goes as follows: "Today is an incredibly difficult day. After a long period of evaluating how to navigate our economic environment, we have to significantly restructure the company to pave the path for a strong future. We are reorganizing Phoenix Labs to focus on our best-in-class live service titles, Dauntless and Fae Farm, and serving their communities."

It continues by acknowledging the cost of such a venture. "This unfortunately means cancelling work on all other projects at the studio, which will impact many of our colleagues immediately. We are giving notices to everyone whose roles are affected. The restructure has not come easily, and has truly been the last resort to ensure Phoenix Labs can survive, and thrive in the long term. It's impossible to put into words how deeply we value every talented individual who has contributed their hard work and passion to every project at our studio."
