Major Update 1.1 Now Available

Hey Friends,

This is the first of a few planned updates that will improve the gameplay of Magical Delicacy and address some concerns and frustration. The idea of the game was always to be very unguided and explorative, and while that's loved by some, I realize that there are still some opportunities to make the game even more cozy and relaxing.
Take a look at the new features awaiting you in Magical Delicacy:

New Field Guide
The new field guide page in Flora's Grimoire keeps track of all ingredients you have discovered, including all their variants once created and ways to acquire or purchase them.

 • A Field Guide Keepsake has been added and can be purchased from Sana. Once purchased, it will unlock the Field Guide page in the Grimoire (main inventory) and allow you to view all discovered ingredients.
 • The Field Guide also tracks used and planted ingredients, which helps to get that last achievement.
Note: Some of you have been making lists and sheets of ingredients. As much as I admire that dedication and love seeing players willing to engage with a game so deeply, I realize that many of you are looking for a more comfortable experience. Therefore, this new field guide with lots of information is a first step for you to have quick access to crucial information.
New Map Details
Colo has been very actively carving new map markers for Flora. This includes multiple intricate little pieces of the local plants and portraits of the townsfolk.

 • Plant Markers have been added, automatically marking the locations of collectible plants on the map. The Plant Markers can be purchased from Colo and don't need to be equipped. Unfortunately, the markers will only show up once you have newly interacted with the plants, even for existing savegames.
 • Delivery Markers have been added, automatically marking the locations of active orders on the map. The Delivery Markers can be purchased from Colo and don't need to be equipped.
Note: Hopefully, this new information on the map will alleviate some of your frustration with searching for the right things. As many players have also expressed their love for how unguided and exploration-heavy this game is, these new markers come as optional purchases from Colo.
Quickly Pass Time
A little magical pocket watch has been spotted in Grat.

 • A Pocket Watch has been added, allowing you to rapidly pass time while sitting on benches. It can be acquired by collecting the new pickup in the Ryverfarer Station.
 • Additional benches have been added to levels.
Note: Despite the popular request to sleep during the day, having no limitations breaks the flow of time intended for the growth of plants. The new pocket watch takes a little more conscious effort but allows it to be used while already close to where you want to explore.

Improved Tutorials
Added and improved some of the tutorials.

 • New Tutorial Hints have been added in the early game to help with more easily overlooked elements.
 • Improved Tutorial Hints have been added for the Broom and Altar.
 • Revisit Previous Tutorial Hints by selecting "Tutorial" within the Guide in your main inventory. Some tutorial hints appear only after they naturally appear in the game to avoid spoilers.

Unstuck
In rare cases where Flora gets stuck in places where she shouldn't be, it can prove helpful to have a way out.

 • An Unstuck button was added to the pause menu to reset the player.

Harvesting Ingredients
Harvesting plants around town has become more involved.

 • A Critical Zone has been added to the reaction minigame for harvesting ingredients in the town. Hitting the critical zone in the center of the target will now yield a better reward.
Note: While disabling this minigame in the settings is possible, players who disable it will benefit from a rare chance to gain two ingredients upon harvesting.

Ingredient Handling
• Storage Units can now be accessed directly during cooking.
 • Improved Ingredient Filters by possible and current enhancement (ground, roasted, etc.) an rarity (common, rare, etc.). Enhancements are limited to having discovered the corresponding kitchen tool.

Other Improvements
• Info on purchasing keepsakes was updated to clarify whether they need to be equipped.
 • The game will now automatically pause when opening the Steam Overlay.
 • Storage UI will no longer open the move dialog if the destination is full.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed some Orders not showing up. If you're still missing an order from a character despite them seemingly giving one to you, try talking to them again.
 • Fixed some bugs and freezes on certain dialogues when the game is set to a specific language.

While there are still things I’d like to add to the game, I hope that these changes help you all have the best experience possible! I'll keep looking out for how these changes are received and might adjust accordingly. Thanks to everyone who cared enough to voice their thoughts on the game. And stay tuned – there’s more to come in the future!

What better time to enjoy this update than during the coming winter months. We'll start this with a 20% sale in the Steam Cooking Fest from November 11 - 18.

Minor Update #1

Hey there,

Thank you all for actively engaging in discussions around the game or even streaming your first steps in Grat!

I’ve enjoyed hearing your thoughts on the game, seeing how many of you are enjoying this magical witchy world, and listening to your feedback. With that in mind, today, I’ve released the first small patch, which includes some balancing, first quality-of-life additions, and a few bug fixes.

You’ve explored the most secret corners of Grat and carefully collected many ingredients. For those of us who don’t want to be caught without the ingredients we need when we need them, it can be hard to part with them. Therefore, with increased storage capacities, you may feel free to hoard your ingredients like a dragon! However, there is still a limit, so you may want to sometimes take a step back before stocking your shelves and ask yourself, “does this ingredient spark joy?”

I’m sure you’ve noticed that one of my main ideas for the game was to allow you to find your way through this twisted world and figure things out on your own. I understand that sometimes that can take away from what many of you want to do in the game — find out what happens next in the story! Because of this, I’ve made some changes to make that a little easier, especially in the early hours of the game.

I'm also already working on a lot of other stuff that should fill your hungry stomachs and help you explore Grat, so keep an eye out for those in the coming weeks.

Cozy cooking adventure Magical Delicacy is super sweet but not quite as filling as I hoped

The cute little icebreaker "which game world would you want to live in?" always stumps me. I wouldn't want to live in Thedas or Tamriel and honestly I'm not sure if there'd be anything enticing about Pelican Town of Stardew Valley if I didn't also get the free and clear deed to a farm to go with it. From now on, I'll say I want to live in Grat, the cozy seaside city of Magical Delicacy where feline princesses and amphibian administrators commission canapés from witches...
