[p]What’s up Agents! We’re back with Major Update #4 in our Early Access journey, and we wanted to hit you with what’s coming up, including some pretty sweet overhauls and a new roadmap! Diving into the Abyss today, you’ll find:[/p]
[/p][p]Affixes give a little more randomness to the weapons you pick up, so it’s never really the same. This also give Agents the potential to pick up a weapon that’s packed with OP Affixes - and the potency and variety of weapon Affixes only scales with weapon levels.[/p][p]In addition, each weapon and Affix now has rarity tiers - with Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary. Higher rarity value (especially for Affixes) means that you can grab significantly more powerful effects - giving the weapon a unique growth path and goals to pursue within each run.[/p][p]It does mean that things have evolved a little more since we started, and the move to affix means that it’s no longer a case of the basic and quite vague “more keys means more pew pew”, so do bear this in mind.[/p][p]We’ve also added Tempering to weapon upgrading. While you’ll still have the two choices for direct weapon upgrades, you can also Temper the weapon instead - adding on a specific Affix instead.[/p][p]We really hope that the new Affix and upgrade system provides the depth to weapons and upgrading that you’ve been after - so jump in, give it a try and let us know how you re-forge your weapons in the Abyss![/p][p]

The Weapon Affix System
[p]We heard your feedback on making sure weapons are more exciting, and we’ve worked to overhaul the weapon system to hit this mark. The new Weapon Affix system means that each weapon you grab in the Abyss comes with its own static and dynamic Affixes - giving a little RNG sparkle to your adventure.[/p][p]Each Affix gives a boost to weapon stats including direct damage and speed bonuses, resource boosting and unique weapon mechanics - so even if you've used this weapon before… no you haven’t, actually.[/p][p]Aphrodite - Goddess of Seduction
[p]Has somebody turned the heating up? Aphrodite hits the Abyss today to provide another Old God boss for you to turn your attention to! Aphrodite weaves fantasies of love and devotion (this is lore translation for “loads of exploding hearts, make sure they don’t hit you”) providing another heavy-hitting, and dynamic boss for you to throw back into the Abyss[/p][p]Blackdog Patch Revamp
[p]Many of you let us know that you weren’t in love with the Blackdog Patch system - mostly because you didn’t want to have to fail to be able to get a patch. So, this is another thing that we’ve looked at to make you nerds happy.[/p][p]We’ve now overhauled the Blackdog Patch system to use a charge-based mechanic. You no longer have to fail to “earn” a patch, and instead it works a little like:[/p]- [p]Every time you defeat a boss you earn one Blackdog Patch charge[/p]
- [p]To grab a Patch, you can spend three charges[/p]
- [p]If you do fail, you’ll instantly earn your three required charges[/p]
- [p]You can’t earn charges in a run where you have a patch active[/p]
Other Tweaks
[p]While it’s not MASSIVE stuff, we’ve also got some other changes for you in the Weapon Reforge update:[/p]- [p]We’ve optimised multiplayer connectivity with some behind the scenes tweaks and reduction of data sync requirements[/p]
- [p]In addition, if the host leaves and you fail to reconnect, the Abyss will automatically bump you back to the beginning of your current floor so you can continue playing on your own[/p]
- [p]We’ve optimised Agent portraits as well, making sure we maintain our unified art style.[/p]
The New Roadmap
[p]As we mentioned earlier, you nerds have given such incredible feedback that we’re re-mapping the roadmap. In addition to making sure that we’re considering your feedback, the Curse System is still in development, and we’re not happy with the quality and consistency just yet, so we’re having on to that a little.[/p][p]
