PATCH NOTES: 7.30

Yo, sup Nerds. It’s another day and another bunch (“bunch” is a strong word) of patch notes. We’re focused on getting some things prepped in the background as we’ll have some bigger news coming for you soon™ - so keep your eyes peeled for that in the next couple of weeks.

Other than that, it’s been great to see so many of you continuing to jump into the Abyss within our Early Access period and we still can’t thank you enough for the incredible feedback. Please do keep it coming over on Discord, Steam and anywhere you can shove it.

So, 7.30 – not just the 30th of July (sorry, American folks but 30.7 as an update number would look WEIRD), what do we have today in this bumper huge mega-size update?

Default Branch Updates

Bug Fixes
• Fixed an issue where jump mark triggering was abnormal while Agents were flying
 • Fixed an issue where jump clouds could disappear immediately after generation if there were too many of them (in fairness, you folks had already mentioned there were too many jump mechanics)
 • Fixed an issue where some enemies lost their flying ability when escaping within the shop room
 • Fixed an issue where the flying status was not working correctly after teleporting back to the landing area following challenge failure
Wowsers that was a lot of flying mechanic fixes. Maybe we should just have removed the flying mechanic? (Lol, no. It’s the only way I can defeat Apollo)

Beta Branch Shenanigans
As ever, a quick reminder that if you’d like faster access to fixes, additions, improvements and other improvements, you can join the Beta Branch. To do this, just select it as your option by heading over to:
 • Library – Right click Neon Abyss 2 – Properties – Betas
And selecting the Beta Branch from the drop-down menu.
Bear in mind, Agents, you will only be able to play multiplayer with folks on the same Branch as you, and the Beta Branch (as the name implies) is a testing platform meaning likelihood or more disruption.

Update 7.29 Patch Notes

Hey Agents! We're back once again for another daily patch. As we plaster the walls of the Abyss with changes, we wanted to send another thank you for the tireless efforts that you've been putting in yourselves. You've left some incredible feedback so far, and the team here are working to get as much of it into the Abyss as possible.

We can't get to everything straight away, but the team has been working to make sure we're answering the constructive feedback in-game, and not just here with words. We're got a light touch on the Default branch today, but we've also moved a good number of bug fixes over into the Beta branch for testing. A fair amount of this focus has been directed towards the (multiple, sorry) issues related to the "Continue Game" feature, and networking connectivity.

We hope you'll continue to live, laugh, level your way through the Abyss. Here's what's been deployed in today's patch.

Default Branch Update

Bug Fixes
• [p]Fixed an issue where the Continue Game feature would reset badge levels to 1.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed issues related to picking up blank badges and badge upgrades.[/p]

Beta Branch Update
Bug Fixes
• [p]Fixed an issue with the "Continue Game" feature where the level of Foundry Badges was incorrect and set effects would grant rewards repeatedly. (you probably liked that, but we're still taking it away)[/p]
 • [p]Fixed an issue where James' inventory was incorrect after continuing a game.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed an issue where weapon badge levels were not correctly synced when continuing a game.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed an issue where force-quitting the game with a full Faith bar could cause an abnormal Faith status after continuing the game.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed a bug where gambling machines would still incorrectly deduct money.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed an issue where purchasing items from the shop would fail when carrying the "Festival Red Packet" relic.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed an issue where the QTE UI would freeze if the input device (keyboard/controller) was switched while the QTE prompt was on screen.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed an error in the shield acquisition order of the Dawn System.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed an issue where rapidly clicking the "Continue" button on the results screen could cause the character to disappear after returning to the bar. (wouldn't be the first time I'd ghosted my friends at the bar)[/p]
 • [p]Fixed an issue in multiplayer mode where the loading screen would get stuck if a teammate disconnected while entering the next level.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed an issue where the flying ability would be lost after quickly entering and leaving a shop room.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed other potential issues that could cause game errors, improving overall stability.[/p]
Optimizations & Adjustments
• [p]Added a network region system. Players will now connect to corresponding servers based on their geographical location (Asia, Europe, Americas) for a more stable online experience. Cross-region matchmaking will not be available.[/p]

So that's all we're deploying today, but we hope you continue to have a great time in the Abyss. "Oh, but how do I join the Beta Branch", you ask? well I'm GLAD you asked because I've already typed it and it would be a shame to waste it.
How to Switch to the Beta Branch:
• [p]Right-click "Neon Abyss" in your game library and select "Properties"[/p]
 • [p]Under the "Beta" tab, select "beta - For testing" (Note: The Beta branch currently only supports Windows. We will update the stable version to other platforms as soon as testing is complete.)[/p]

Update 7.28 Patch Notes

Default Branch Update
Highlight
[p]Added the "Continue" feature: In Single-player Mode, if you exit during an Abyss run, you can select "Continue" in the main menu to restore the initial state of your current floor.[/p][p](Your current badge level will be set to level 1 when continuing the game; when using James, you will lose your previous weapons and items, which can be restored after interacting with the Pillar of Faith. These issues will be fixed in the next update.)[/p]
Bug Fixes
• [p]Fixed an issue where entering the Soul Room would cause immediate teleportation out.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed an issue with abnormal synchronization of pickup locations in online multiplayer.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed an issue in online multiplayer where characters would get stuck in the aiming animation due to repeated weapon upgrade events.[/p]

Update 7.25 Patch Notes

Hello there, Agents! It’s another smaller update today as we have a lot of work in progress for other fixes and optimisation which are ongoing. We hope you’re all enjoying spending time screaming into the Abyss (or staring into the Void), and we’ll be back with another update for you soon™.
Default Branch Updates

Bug Fixes
• Resolved an issue related to Saya’s fishing (she was probably just using the wrong bait)
Beta Branch Updates

Bug Fixes
• Fixed an issue where entering a Soul Room would cause you to be immediately teleported out (vengeful spirits? Who you gonna call?)
Well, that’s it for today. In our defence, we told you at the beginning that this was going to be a short one. If you’re looking to keep reading I really recommend Terry Pratchett’s Discworld, or you can just jump back into the Abyss for one more run (Go on. It’s just one more. What’s the worst that could happen?)

Anyway, join if you want. Or not, I’m not your dad. See you in the Abyss, nerds.

Update 7.24 Patch Notes

Hey Agents! We’re back once again (sadly without the Renegade Master) for another update with 7.24 now live. Another huge thank you for all of the feedback you continue to deliver, it really does make a huge difference.

A slightly smaller update today, but an important one. The Beta Branch update for 7.24 now includes mid-game saving in single player. This is in testing (and thus the Beta Branch) and we hope to have it deployed for all Agents soon™, with progress going really well.

But enough of my waffle, what have we changed in the Abyss for update 7.24 – well I’m about to tell you so, stay a while, and listen.
Default Branch Updates

Bug Fixes
• Fixed an issue with weapon skins not loading correctly
 • Rounded up the SUNBLOOM Hatchmon and made sure it understands that it has to show up when a player has the weapon equipped
Adjustments and Optimisation
• Optimised the in-game data collection system (boring for you, we know, but it will allow us to better monitor game stability)
UI and Localisation
• Updated multi-lingual translations (again. Don’t even).
 • Fixed a "\#value" error with cosmetic descriptions within multi-lingual environments
Beta Branch Updates
As ever we have our separate Beta Branch update, which today has a really important addition. If you'd like to play in the Beta Branch head to:
 • Library – Right click Neon Abyss 2 – Properties – Betas
And selecting the Beta Branch from the drop-down menu. There’s no password, but bear in mind that the Beta Branch is for more frequent and less tested updates, and will likely be less stable than the default branch.
Additions
• Added mid-game saving and a “Continue Game” option for the single-player experience (just like you asked for!). When continuing, players will start from the initial landing room for the last floor you entered.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed abnormal synchronisation issues with item locations within co-op
 • Fixed an issue where characters could get stuck in the aiming animation due to repeated weapon effects in co-op
Balance Adjustments
• Increased Xuan’s “grazing range” (how close you have to get for his power to activate), increased the charge limit to 5 and expanded the range of his active skill
 • Still have not found a good marriage partner for Xuan but it’s something we’re working on. Let us know if you’d like to be in the running.
Adjustments and Optimisation
• Optimised stuttering issues when entering and exiting rooms
 • Optimised UI effects when unlocking achievements
 • Optimised lighting effects for SKYREND
 • Optimised UI effects on the Reward Collection screen
More Thanks From Us!
That’s it. Once again. That’s all we have for you today, but we’ll be back again soon (maybe). Your feedback continues to make an impact on the Abyss. Now if only your weapons were making an impact on the enemy... Get on with it!

As ever you can get through to us using (in order of preference / ease)
 1. The in-game F3 prompt which will take you straight to our dedicated area
 2. The bug forum in the official Veewo Discord
 3. The Steam forums
Please do continue to let us know how you feel, and we’ll continue bringing you updates, tweaks, fresh content and (if you’re up for it) chaos in the Abyss.
