Patch 1.9.0 - New In-Game DLC Achievements, Collectibles, and Pin Rewards

Hello peakbaggers!

This patch brings a few more in-game rewards, collectibles, and a few other things to the DLC, as well as some end-game challenges. There's also been a few adjustments on a couple of maps in the DLC, so be sure to check out the update below and in-game!
Summit Stamp Achievements
• You can now acquire stamps for completing Alpine summits. Each successful summit will award a stamp for completion. A total of 23 stamps can be collected, corresponding to the number of DLC maps.
  • These work like regular achievements as well as in-game viewable stamps in your Alpinist's Cabin. They will pop into view once you acquire them.
  • If you have already completed a map, you will automatically have the respective stamp.
Sleeve Pins
• New cosmetic sleeve pins have been added. They can be collected by completing new challenges found in the Great Alps. Be sure to check your Map for new collectibles.
  • There are a total of 11 new cosmetic sleeve pins to unlock. Once you acquire one, you can display it on your sleeve(s).
  • Accomplished mountaineers, and those of keen sight, will be awarded with pins to adorn your tweeds.
  • Once a pin has been awarded, you can find them on your Collected Pins board in the Alpinist's Cabin. Here you can adorn them on your sleeves with Left Trigger / Left Click, or view them up with Right Trigger / Right Click.
  • These pins will be unlocked permanently, unless you delete the save file and remove their unlocks using the option found in Main Menu > Options > Misc Options > Delete Great Alps Unlocks.
Flora and Fauna
• During your adventure throughout the Great Alps, you can now find elusive collectible Alpine flowers, soaring Great Eagles, and elusive Ghostly Goats appearing through the night.
  • Use your acquired mountaineering expertise to find and grab these elusive flowers, as they tend to grow in treacherous locations.
  • A keen eye is needed to spot both Great Eagles and Ghostly Goats. These will not appear on your map, so be sure to be on the lookout during your climbs.
Monument of Sundown & Monument of Cruelty
• Monument of Sundown & Monument of Cruelty will now unlock permanently after collecting their respective idols. These monuments are found on specific peaks listed below.
Permanently unlocking these means that they will also appear in new save files in You Fall You Die and Free Solo if you have unlocked their respective idols at least once.
  • As they are used as part of new challenges, they will appear on the following maps:
  • Greenhorn's Top, Towering Vísir, Eldris Wall, Mount Mhòrgorm, and Solemn Tempest.
  • These monuments will automatically be unlocked if you have collected both the Idol of Sundown and Idol of Cruelty.
  • Note: Monuments on Greenhorn's Top are not used for any challenges and are simply in case of self-imposed challenges in Normal Mode, You Fall You Die, and Free Solo.
Option to Delete new Alpine Unlocks: "Delete Great Alps Unlocks"
• Found in Main Menu > Options > Misc Options > Delete Great Alps Unlocks.
  • Use to remove any Pin unlocks.
  • Use to delete the state of unlocks of Monuments of Sundown and Monuments of Cruelty.
  • Use to delete the "seen" state of animals in the Great Alps.
  • Note that some pins will unlock automatically at certain points during a save file if you have enough progress in it.
Updates
• Added an option to disable sunshafts / sun glare with a launch option. Running the game at lower resolutions would blow up the sunglare effect. To add this launch option, right-click the game in your Steam Library, go to Properties, add "-nosg" without the quotation marks.

  • Increased volume stamina regain very slightly after leaving the hold.

  • Slightly nerfed the speed of Pitch Stamina drain a little bit when using two-handed volumes.
  • Nerfed the speed of Pitch Stamina drain on one hand.
  • Boosted the Pitch Stamina regain drastically after leaving a volume. This should make continuous volumes less punishing.
  • Grabbing a hold while also grabbing a volume will negate the drain speed drastically.
  • Increased the pull up and let go force slightly while on the volume.
  • The balance meter will only build up as long as you are touching a volume, so try to limit your approach prevent as much downwards momentum on the hold as possible.

Patch 1.8.5 - Volume Rework and Peak Visuals

Hey everyone.
Volumes have had an extensive rework.
The previous version was too generous in the amount of time you had on the hold. The new version should bring back the challenge of the original vision of these holds while also being a lot more balanced.
Volumes Overhaul
• Balance meter UI has been added.
  • The balance meter will fill up drastically when you have downwards momentum. Chalk negates this effect significantly.
  • Pitch stamina drain has been drastically increased. If you only have one hand on a volume, the drain will be much faster. Chalk negates this effect significantly.
  • After setting off a volume, you'll regain a portion of your pitch stamina. So the longer you stay on a volume, the less time / pitch stamina will you have on the next potential volume.
  • As usual, if you are having trouble with these new volumes, use chalk.
Rope Tool
• You can now chalk both hands while hanging on a rope with the Chalk hotkey.
Visual Updates
• Mara's Arch, Ivory Granites, Welkin Pass, Seigr Craeg, Ullrs Chasm, Eldris Wall, and Mount Mhòrgorm can now be seen from Towering Vísir.
  • Upscaled the texture tiling a little bit on some rock materials.
Major Bugfixes
• Fixed remaining ice axe issues related to destructible ice.
  • Fixed a bug where you could "fall" through branches and wheels after grabbing them, leaving your arms behind.
  • Fixed a bug where you could use the barometer along with the ice axes.

Patch 1.8.4a - Map, QOL, and Visuals Update

Few more improvements and modifications on both Castle of the Swan King and Seaside Tribune.

I'm pretty content with the state these maps are in now, so it's unlikely I'll be modifying them any more in the future. In this patch, you'll also find a few QOL as well as visual updates on certain maps, so be sure to check out the changes.
Cabins
• Idols can now be used in the Northern Outpost cabin. It will not show up unless you have been in the Einvald Valley Alpinist's Cabin first.
  • Idols UI should now properly show up when interacting with the idols.

  • The rope will no longer become "stuck" when climbing it close the the anchor on the ground. The rope will extend to its full length while grounded, unless you are climbing it.
Crampons
• 6-Point Crampons slightly boosted in force, but still not so much to make them comparable with 10-Point Crampons.

  • Other minor fixes

Patch 1.8.3a - Castle, Dam, Tribune, and Ice Axes

The Castle and Dam are back to what they were before with a few changes to accommodate both the unique aspects of the climbs, while not trivializing the routes.

Unfortunately, the last patch including crampons completely trivialized the majority of the Castle map, and it was unneeded for maps like Seaside and the Dam where there's plenty of opportunities to place safety ropes.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Ultimately, it's impossible to please everyone.
Hopefully these changes should keep the uniqueness of the climbs while not trivializing anything.

Be sure to check them out below, and in-game.
Castle of the Swan King
- Crampons have been restricted again.
- Ropes remain allowed and are no longer limited to 10. Additionally, there have been added wooden beams with lamp posts around the castle which you can use to anchor to. The concrete bits of the castle can also be used to anchor ropes.
Almáttr Dam
- Crampons have been restricted again.
- The platforms as well as the scaffolding should provide enough safety in case you'd like to play safe, while still offering enough challenge and not trivializing the route with crampons.
- Ropes can now be used on both the scaffolding, and the supporting platforms between each segment.
Seaside Tribune
- Crampons have been restricted again. Ropes can still be used across all non-movable wooden parts.
- Added a few extra poles around the middle section.
Bugfixes
- Fixed an incorrect texture on a signpost for Tutor's Tower.
- Potential fix for ice axes releasing grip randomly sometimes when striking destructible ice.
