1.6.6d Patch Notes - Bird Seeds, Framerate Unlocking and more

Hey peakbaggers! Just a few updates this time around. Be sure to check out the notes below as there are some updates to display resolutions, fullscreen modes, framerate unlocking, and other stuff.

[h2]1.6.6[/h2]
[h3]Bird Seeds[/h3]
  • Added bird seeds that can temporarily pacify angered birds. Has limited use.
  • Five packs of bird seeds can now be found on peaks in the Great Gales. Use your barometer to locate them.

[h3]Fullscreen Mode[/h3]
  • Reworked fullscreen mode a bit to be more clear.
  • Fullscreen Mode is now a drop-down to choose between Fullscreen, Fullscreen Borderless, and Windowed.

[h3]Display Resolutions[/h3]
  • Display resolution options will now show refresh rates (Hz). Be sure to select the one that fits your current screen.

[h3]FPS Limit[/h3]
  • Added an option to unlock the framerate.
  • By default, the game will try to run at 60 fps (Option: Locked).
  • If you wish to run the game above 60 fps (Option: Unlocked), I recommend leaving Vertical Sync on in order to prevent screen-tearing and unpredictable gameplay.

    Even when the FPS is unlocked/uncapped, the framerate will only go as high as your monitor's refresh rate if you have Vertical Sync on.

[h3]Vertical Sync[/h3]

If you have Vertical Sync enabled, the game will try to match the framerate to your screen's refresh rate in order to prevent screen-tearing. E.g. when Vertical Sync is on and you run the game on a 144 Hz monitor, the game will try to match the framerate to 144 in order to prevent screen-tearing.

[h3]Performance[/h3]

If you had performance issues previously, they might be tied to the resolution chosen before this patch. Please make sure you take a look at the resolution options and match them to your preferred display in this patch.
Specifically, if you play with Vertical Sync enabled, make sure your native monitor refresh rate (Hz) is the same (or close to) the chosen resolution option and Hz.

[h2]Hotfix 1.6.6a[/h2]

[h3]Display Resolutions[/h3]
Added a few basic default 16:9 resolutions as well another check to detect native resolutions that aren't 16:9 specifically.

You'll probably need to set your preferred resolution once you enter the game after this patch.
Keep in mind that some resolutions will have misplaced UI positions as the game primarily supports 16:9 resolutions.

[h3]Other tweaks and bugfixes[/h3]
  • Bird Seeds can now be used in all modes.
  • Fixed a visual issue with the cabin crampons.
  • Fixed some issues with camera animations not resetting movement and rotation values properly after animating.
  • Fixed a UI issue with the chalk tooltip.


[h2]Hotfix 1.6.6b[/h2]
  • Fixed a bug with the currently used resolution being incorrect in the previous patch.
When launching after this updating to this patch, the game will automatically choose the last resolution available (native). This is only set once.
If you wish to use another resolution and refresh rate, please choose one from Options > Graphics > Screen Resolution.
  • Game Default resolutions will now have refresh rates based on the currently used screen.


[h2]Hotfix 1.6.6c[/h2]
  • Common Ultrawide resolutions have been added back. They will show up if you run the game with launch options.
  • If you're playing in ultrawide, please use the launch options outlined here.
    If the options don't show up after using it, you can add the command line "-optionsUW" after the others.


[h2]Patch 1.6.6d[/h2]
  • Fixed a bug that allowed you to get more release force than intended.
  • Fixed a bug with ice axes adding more than one increment to the Holds Made counter in Time Attack.
  • Fixed a bug causing you to sometimes teleport when grabbing a hold on Solemn Tempest.
  • Other minor fixes.

1.6.5d - Minor Patch Notes

  • Fixed a bug where arms would be shorter after using coffee.
  • Fixed a bug with the rope anchoring tool being visible while setting a score in time attack.
  • Pausing the game will no longer freeze hands when you're holding onto a sloper after resuming.
  • Other minor fixes.

  • Fixed a bug with hand teleportation while on slopers.
  • Fixed a bug with hands still freezing after resuming from the menu.

1.6.5b - Patch Notes

[h3]Updates[/h3]
  • Minor tweaks to the barometer compass legibility.
  • Moving after reaching the summit will no longer increment the timer in time attack.
  • Minor bug fixes.

[h3]Visual Updates[/h3]
  • Great Gaol is now visible from the summit of Ymir's Shadow.
  • St. Haelga is now visible from the summit of Aldr Grotto.
  • Eldenhorn now visible from Walter's Boulder.
  • Giant's Shelf now visible from the summit of Walker's Pillar and St. Haelga.
  • St. Haelga and Walker's Pillar now visible from Giant's Shelf.
  • Minor tweaks to the fog on some levels.


[h3]1.6.5a[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug with crampons allowing 4 jumps even after the previous fix.
  • Reverted some changes on Time Attack. You'll need to be properly still again while on the summit.

[h3]Bug fixes[/h3]
  1. Fixed a couple of bird issues.
  2. Fixed a bug with Walter freezing on his dialogue at Three Brothers.
  3. Fixed an issue with incorrect font for some peaks on the maps.

[h3]Minor Visual Updates[/h3]
  • St. Haelga is now visible from Cromlech, Sundered Sons, Walter's Crag, and The Twins.
  • Walker's Pillar is now also visible from Cromlech.

Patch 1.6.4a

[h3]1.6.4 Updates[/h3]

  • Added extra measures to detect old save files for migration as well as corrupt save files.
  • Coffee thermos has been added to the cabin since it wasn't previously.
  • The amount of ropes, chalk, and extra coffee uses collected will now be displayed on each individual tool in the cabin.
  • Monocular is now available in Free Solo providing you have summited Three Brothers.
  • When in Routing Flag mode, you'll now make the same noise that would indicate death when falling too far.
  • Adjusted the timing a little for failed crampon jumps so you wont accidentally trigger it when staying on the same hold for a while.
  • Walker's Pillar, Ymir's Shadow, and Solemn Tempest are now visible from St. Haelga.
  • Walker's Pillar very slightly visible from Ymir's Shadow.
  • St. Haelga now visible from Walker's Pillar.


[h3]Bugfixes[/h3]

  • Fixed a bug with the time attack timer starting without having touched the ground.
  • Fixed a bug with alternating reach outs giving more force than intended.
  • Fixed a bug where the birds would attack after playing their attack animation, which didnt give you enough time to react due to them not making a sound.
  • Fixed a bug where you would only receive 40 ropes in You Fall You Die.
  • Fixed a bug with the in game menu on Great Bulwark.
  • Fixed a bug where using coffee from the belt would cause an issue that prevented you from using other tools.
  • Fixed some minor bugs with receiving wind force while setting a score on Wuthering Crest.


[h3]Patch 1.6.4a[/h3]
  • Playing Time Attack in Normal Mode will no longer cause a fall animation when you take a lethal fall. The sound effect for falling will still play. You can still die in You Fall You Die and Free Solo while using time attack.
  • Fixed a bug with certain buttons not showing up in the main menu while using ultra-wide.
  • Fixed a bug with crampons rarely doing 4 jumps.


[h3]1.6.4b[/h3]
  • The invincibility gained from using Time Attack in Normal mode now only works for the Intermediate Category.
  • Fixed a bug with Coffee and Chalk in the cabin not showing the actual amount of extra uses.
  • Fixed a bug with crumbling holds.

1.6.3e - Bivouac Recollection and Rope Saves

Hey peakbaggers. Just a few QOL updates, specifically for the Bivouac / Solemn Tempest, bird mode fixes, and a few other updates.

[h3]Solemn Tempest / Bivouac[/h3]
  • Previously placed ropes are now saved between sessions - provided you exit through the Bivouac.
  • You can now remove and collect the Bivouac again after it has been placed. Use the same button as you placed it with (default 'B').
  • Decreased the placement duration a little.
  • Added fading to the placement visualiser.

[h3]Avian Modes[/h3]
  • Fixed some bugs with the Wally and Avian Chaos mode. The progress should now track properly from the save file with the highest progress in the modes. If your progress was previously bugged.
  • You'll need to start a fresh save file in order to have the progress track properly from the new save file(s). Sorry for the inconvenience!
  • Progress of each of the avian modes is now visualized for each save slot.

[h3]Other Updates[/h3]
  • You can now skip to the next peak in Normal mode if you have completed all summits in the Great Gales.
  • Ropes now also display a "Ropes left" tooltip after collecting a rope.

[h3]Bugfixes[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug with being able to click slot buttons after already starting a game.
  • Fixed a bug with being able to crampon jump while in the bivouac.
  • Other minor bugfixes.


[h3]Hotfix 1.6.3a[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug where you coulden't replace the bivouac after loading back in.


[h3]Hotfix 1.6.3b[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug where Lucy woulden't summit properly on Walker's Pillar.


[h3]1.6.3c[/h3]

Updates
  • Improved the visual grabbing on crimps a bit.
  • Increased the speed at which you can skip the time attack scoreboard animations.
  • Tweaked the bird modes a little. Birds will refrain from attacking when they are already too close.
Bugfixes
  • Fixed a bug with being invincible after exiting the bivouac.
  • Fixed a bug with ice axes and the ticket to Category 4 not showing up.
  • Fixed a bug with Porter having bugged animations when receiving multiple parcels after another.


[h3]Hotfix 1.6.3d[/h3]
  • NPC Co-climbing fixes.
  • Other minor fixes.


[h3]Patch 1.6.3e[/h3]
  • Fixed some issues with navigation in the menu when using a controller.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed you to unlock achievements prematurely that required using no bivouac on Solemn Tempest.
  • Delete slot buttons will be disabled unless there's a save active in it's slot.
