DCS Update

C-130J Launch hotfix
This week’s hotfix addresses several C-130 launch issues. Several crash causes have been fixed such as ray tracing crashes, use of the MOAB and mark points, and when loading specific instant action missions. New missions from Sedlo have also been added, and existing missions from Sedlo, Gambit, and Baltic Dragon have been updated.

You will also find new Air China, Royal New Zealand Air Force, and Japan Air Self-Defense Force liveries, along with accuracy improvements to existing paint schemes. AVX CPU requirements have also been removed to broaden hardware compatibility.

The Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) now offers usability pass with clearer loadmaster feedback, a restart button, improved logbook behavior, better low-volume control, a virtual keyboard for notes and radios, and various UI refinements including the renamed Media tab and persistent Auto Reverse selection.

Smaller but important polishing includes corrected tooltips and labels, an updated rearm menu graphic, a more visible loadmaster icon, fixes for flare and chaff quantity updates, cockpit view behavior, and a desync issue that could lead to wing separation. Download the DCS: C-130J!
Marianas WWII

Development Progress
Since the release of the free DCS: Mariana Islands World War II map, the map team has been diligently working to enhance and improve it, ensuring that it accurately reflects this island chain in the summer of 1944. Runway-taxiway logic has been reworked, trees along takeoff and landing paths have been removed, runway surfaces have been improved, and parking locations adjusted. For the rest of the map, we manually corrected vector data, rebuilt road networks, and refined the placement of residential buildings, farmland, and much more. We have also addressed several points raised by our customers, including impassable bushes and other quality-of-life improvements.

One of the most significant changes in a future update concerns an event that occurred many years after World War II ended. In the early morning hours of May 15, 1981, a major volcanic eruption took place on Pagan island. The lava flow moved southwest from Mount Pagan, partially covering the Pagan airstrip and necessitating the complete evacuation of the island's then 54 residents.

Since the vector data for our maps is based on modern information, events like this can be overlooked when creating on a historical map. However, some observant customers quickly pointed out this event and its impact on the Pagan airstrip. Armed with this knowledge, we conducted an in-depth investigation using imagery from the 1940s and discovered that the Allies had extensively photographed the island. We located these high-quality surveillance images of the airfield and its surroundings, allowing us to accurately recreate the airfield as it appeared nearly 40 years before the volcanic event.

C-130J launch

C-130J
Launch
We are delighted to announce that DCS: C-130J is now available. Developed by the Airplane Simulation Company, it brings one of the world’s most widely deployed tactical air lifters into DCS as a fully-fledged, deeply simulated module. Please note that you can also purchase the DCS: C-130J directly from the Airplane Simulation website.

At the heart of the experience is authentic cargo and airdrop gameplay. You will plan and execute ramp-to-ramp logistics, configure and deploy loads, and perform low-level, time-on-target airdrops. A first-person loadmaster mode allows you to walk the cargo bay and interact directly with loads and aircraft systems, bringing a completely new style of gameplay to DCS.

The cockpit is fully interactive and highly detailed, featuring modern digital avionics, HUD, and accurate instrumentation. The professional flight model captures the unique character of this large, powerful turboprop, with realistic engine and prop behaviour, heavy-weight handling, and the challenge of low-level tactical flying in demanding conditions. Systems such as the AE 2100D3 engines, advanced avionics, cargo management, defensive countermeasures, and damage modelling are all represented to the highest level of fidelity in Early Access and will continue to be refined as development progresses.

In multiplayer, you can fly as pilot, co-pilot, navigator, or loadmaster, sharing cockpit and mission tasks in real time with friends. This opens the door to complex cooperative scenarios: coordinated formation airdrops, joint CAS support with fighter packages, or multi-ship humanitarian operations into challenging terrain.

Key features at early access:
 • Authentic Cargo Operations
 • Interactive, Voiced Checklist System
 • Real time, ray traced reflections: exclusive to the C-130
 • First-Person Loadmaster Experience
 • Fully Interactive Cockpit
 • Realistic Flight Dynamics
 • Detailed Systems Simulation
 • Multi-Crew Multiplayer
 • Dynamic Missions
 • Outstanding Visual Detail
 • Comprehensive Documentation and Training

In this update we are releasing several cargo and logistic features we timed together with the DCS: C-130J by Airplane Simulation Company. These features are universal for the DCS and only limited by aircraft capabilities. They are not exclusively tied to single aircraft.

These updates will allow players to do more cargo operations. Among them is cargo air drop and an API for developers to create their parachute systems for dropped cargo. Additionally, we have added the ability to transport vehicles that is limited by the size of your aircraft cargo bay compared to the transported vehicle size. You can try to load a vehicle that fits your cargo bay; however, if it is too heavy, you will not be able to takeoff because the vehicle's weight is automatically added to the aircraft flight model.

Transported vehicles are also considered to be cargo, so in the same way as any other cargo, air drop will work with them too. The beautiful and mighty C-130J from ASC will pioneer the usage of this new DCS functionality.

To improve gameplay variety in DCS, another cargo and logistics feature we have added is the ability to deploy FARPs from the special cargo assets. Technical implementation of it has been added initially as the task (Spawn FARP on unload) that you may assign it to any cargo item just like you assign tasks in advanced waypoint actions. For this task, you are able to choose three FARP presets that will correspond to what kind of FARP will spawn in the cargo unloading area. We are eager to see the initial usage of this feature, and we are looking forward to receiving feedback from you on the addition of more presets and expanded FARP constructions depending on brought materials.

And last, but certainly not least, our weapons team added the GBU-43 Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB). With a 3D model provided by the ASC, we have added bomb logic and guidance and explosive modelling. Currently this special bomb exists in DCS as a cargo asset with a specific bomb drop procedure that was developed together with our friends at the ASC. This is a special case weapon, so use it wisely! We are excited to see how its explosive potential will affect gameplay and the state of the battlefield whilst continuing to fine tune as required.

Thanksgiving Sale | La-7 Progress | MiG-29A Progress
Thanksgiving Sale

Up to 50% savings
[p][/p][p]There’s still time to take advantage of these amazing deals, but the clock is ticking. The 2025 DCS Thanksgiving Sale will end on the 27th of November at 10:00 GMT. Here are just a few of the standout modules currently on sale:[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Heatblur has delivered major quality-of-life upgrades, including the new F-14A-135-GR (Early) variant. [/p]

[p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]With the recent addition of the Data Transfer Cartridge (DTC) system, this naval masterpiece is more capable than ever, making it a must-have for any DCS pilot.[/p]

[p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]The AH-64D has received substantial improvements to George AI across both Pilot and Gunner roles, with refined target acquisition logic, more accurate weapon employment, improved attitude management, and overall smoother control. [/p]

[p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]The A-10C has been a cornerstone of DCS for nearly 15 years. With the enhanced A-10C II Tank Killer upgrade and an all-new free pilot model on the way, this is the perfect time to jump in. [/p]

[p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Indulge in naval aviation with animated deck operations, an Air Boss station and authentic radio communication. [/p]

[p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Featuring high-resolution imagery, dense urban areas, detailed airfields, and extensive navigation networks, this is one of the most advanced and visually rich terrains in DCS. Its large footprint makes it ideal for modern strike missions, multi-axis operations, and complex scenario design, while its popularity on multiplayer servers makes it a go-to map for coordinated combat patrols and persistent campaigns.[/p][p]No matter if you are shopping for yourself or grabbing a gift for a fellow virtual aviator, please take advantage of these unbeatable savings. [/p][p] [/p]
La-7

Development progress
[p][/p][p]OctopusG is in the final stages of development on their La-7, and they have provided an initial build for evaluation prior to full, internal testing. Based on test results, we believe that this eagerly awaited warbird will be available in early 2026. In the meantime, we’re pleased to pass along a more detailed progress report.[/p][p]All electrical power sources, consumers, and their interactions have been implemented, as well as the emergency landing gear extension and canopy jettison. The pneumatic system is fully implemented, including actuators, brakes, and emergency landing gear extension. The oxygen system now functions in both automatic and manual (emergency) modes above 4 km, along with its related instrumentation. Special attention has been paid to the cockpit mechanical systems.[/p][p]The La-7 will launch with a detailed damage and failure system that features engine failures due to overheating, flutter, and the impact of structural damage based on allowable G-loads. Damage animations are currently in progress, along with simulation of oil temperate.[/p][p]The flight manual is in its final stages for both Russian and English versions. It will also launch with an interesting set of several for the USSR, Czechoslovakia, North Korea, and United Kingdom liveries.[/p][p]A key focus of the team in this final stretch is creation of mission content such as interactive training missions and instant action missions. The La-7 will also be available with the Quick Action Generator.[/p][p]The La-7 will be an outstanding addition to DCS, and those familiar with the performance of the Spitfire will feel at home. It’s an outstanding fighter in a close-in dogfighting that is a joy to fly.[/p][p] [/p]
MiG-29A Fulcrum
[p]Development progress

The external model is seeing steady improvement with its geometry and textures. Several new liveries are being improved, and new ones are being created; Ukraine, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and an additional Polish skin. These will be introduced once the external model update is finalised. Maintenance hatches are also being created for parked aircraft.[/p][p]The HUD projection glass has also received an updated geometry pass to more accurately match real-world contours. Some of these art improvements will be available in the next DCS update. More updates will follow as we push the MiG-29A toward the next major milestone. Stay tuned![/p][p]Thank you again for your passion and support,[/p][p]Yours sincerely,[/p][p]Eagle Dynamics[/p]
