F-16C Hardware & New Features | Kiowa Development Progress
WinWing

Hardware
The Orion HOTAS is the most accurate F-16 throttle ever created for the entertainment market. It consists of a full metal design blended with generic use controls for a broad array of DCS aircraft.

The control stick replicates the real F-16 grip and includes an optional attachment for expanded inputs. The grip also has a haptic feedback module.
Guide Available
To give you a head start learning to fly and operate the AH-64D, we have released the Early Access manual. Please find the PDF document here.

Spanning pages 361, the guide provides a detailed accounting of all the history, sensors, weapons, systems and basic tactics of our AH-64D. The guide is a work-in-progress and as new systems are added to the module, the guide will be updated. We believe, more than anything else so far, that the guide illustrates the extreme amount of detail and care that has gone into this project. Enjoy.

We have added BDU-50 training bombs, the Max Toss Anticipation cue to accompany the recently added Dive Toss bombing mode, the “Lock” voice message when you lock up a target in an Air Combat Maneuvering (ACM) radar mode, and changed the HMCS symbology for ACM Slew mode.

Improvements have also been made to the G-onset and Instantaneous Turn Rate and are undergoing tests. We hope and expect to have this to you shortly.
OH-58D Kiowa

Development Report
DCS: OH-58D Kiowa and ‘Barundus’
“The model is based on one of our main SME. Barundus will also speak voice commands for AI and in campaigns. We strongly believe this will benefit the virtual flying experience.
Barundus has over 5300 flight hours and was an instructor pilot in the Bell OH58D Kiowa Warrior. He has been deployed to numerous combat tours and this will also contribute to AI behaviour.

We have made the decision to present the whole timeline of the aircraft from 1984 till 2017 with some exceptions to avionics. This means the product will include the OH-58D Kiowa (no weapons pylons), the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior from 1992 till 2006 and the latest aircraft of 2017 all in one module”.

We look towards your comments on this promising introduction of DCS: OH-58D Kiowa.

Thank you again for your passion and support,

Yak-52 Flight Model | Supercarrier Development Progress
Yak-52

Flight Dynamics
https://store.steampowered.com/app/917390/DCS_Yak52/

As a result of the Flight Model enhancements, the aircraft will have more realistic take-off behaviour and better performance in inverted aerobatic manoeuvres. We understand that some of you have been waiting for these improvements a while and we thank you for your patience. Going forward we will address other tasks that need to be completed before moving DCS: Yak-52 out of Early Access. We very much look forward to your feedback in the next Open Beta update.
Development Progress
https://store.steampowered.com/app/250990/DCS_Fw_190_D9_Dora/

During the last few weeks, we have located and fixed a long standing and very tricky bug when the engine would suddenly stop after a long duration flight. As we can see the bug affected many warbirds but was mostly noticed on Fw 190D-9 Dora. We plan to include this fix in the next update.
Supercarrier

Development Progress
The work is essentially finished on the Greenie board that is connected to the actual LSO station data, which provides live updates during the mission.

We are currently working on the functionality of crew tablets where you will be able to see mission briefings as well as check and change loadouts. In addition, the briefing officer can control the projected picture that is visible on the main screen and choose what to show on the auxiliary TV screen located above his head.
AH-64D Flares

Development Progress
We are pleased to share our progress on the M206 IR Decoy Flares that provide protection against air-to-air and surface-to-air infrared weapon systems. The Advanced Infrared Countermeasure Munition (AIRCMM) consists of the M211 Flares and supplements the M206 Aircraft Countermeasure Flares. The M211 Flares are specifically designed for low flying, slow moving rotary aircraft.

To make sure you have not missed out, check Matt Wagner’s latest videos in the AH-64D Tutorial Series.

FLIR For Terrains & S-3B Viking Development
VKB Sim

WWII Hardware
A matching throttle lever and grip based on authentic designs of certain WWII German aircraft. It complements the KG12 and offers an unprecedented immersive experience when flying piston warbirds with the tactile ergonomics of that era. The new throttle lever and grip will be mounted on VKB's highly popular THQ throttle quadrants, part of the Gladiator NXT modular flight control system. Available soon.
FLIR

Development Progress
Our new FLIR technology is progressing well. It takes into account how various terrain elements are rendered in the IR spectrum. This includes large masses of water, vegetation, asphalt and concrete that have high thermal retention capacities. These gradually heat up and cool down at different rates depending on the color and material. This leads to bodies of water and forests looking cooler during the day and at night time seeming warmer.

Houses, buildings, runways and many other man-made structures often look warmer at night as they have absorbed heat during the day and are clearly visible in the IR spectrum. In addition to the dynamic nature of all vehicles and changing heat signatures, which are dependent on their movement, we will continue to tune the terrains, associated map objects and vehicles to bring you these enhancements in time for the DCS: AH-64D Early Access launch. We are confident that the new FLIR technology will be available across all compatible sensors deployed in DCS.
S-3B Viking

Development Progress
The S-3B Viking is a carrier-based, subsonic, all-weather, long-range, multi-mission aircraft that carries automated weapon systems. It is also capable of extended missions with aerial refueling. The Viking was originally used by the U.S Navy for anti-submarine warfare, but it has also provided electronic warfare and surface surveillance for large battle groups.

The S-3B variant features upgraded avionics: the AN/APS-137 inverse synthetic aperture radar, Joint Tactical Information Distribution System, and AGM-84 Harpoon launch capabilities. The aircraft has two underwing hardpoints for fuel tanks, cluster bombs, missiles, rockets, and storage pods. It also has four internal bomb bay stations that can be used to carry general-purpose bombs and special stores.

We hope that this progress report was to your satisfaction and we patiently await your feedback.
Mi-24P Hind

Development Progress
Because much of our Mi-24P team has been assisting with the AH-64D project, you may have noticed that updates have been slim recently. Nevertheless, we do have good progress in the weapons department. Work on the rear gunner cabin is finished, and we are working on the gunner model itself and AI behaviour. The rear cabin will contain a Kord 12.7 mm heavy machine gun that you may have tried in DCS: Mi-8MTV2.

Apart from rear gunner position, we are making good progress on integration of the R-60 air-to-air missile. The design of the cockpit panel and functionality aspects of this missile is almost feature complete. We are planning to make this missile available before remodeling IR-missile guidance in DCS.
In the avionics systems department, we have finished work on "Greben" course navigation system code refactoring. We have also worked on the magnetic adjustment capabilities of the KM-2 panel in the front cockpit.
B-1B Lancer

Development Progress
First envisioned in the 1960s as a platform to combine Mach 2 speeds with the payload of a B-52H Stratofortress, the B-1B has supported U.S. and NATO military forces in Afghanistan and Iraq since the early 1990s.

For the B-1B Lancer, a 3D model of The Lockheed Martin Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP) AN/AAQ-33 was added. We have started animating the B-1B elements. You can see some elements in Development Screenshots.

We are also working on updating many other AI-aircraft models to 2022 DCS standards and look forward to sharing progress with you soon.
