Riding Dirty
Hey everyone!
Cars in the Car Rental Simulator are meant to be used, and when they are, they get dirty. Keeping vehicles in good condition is an important part of running your business, which is why we’ve been putting a lot of work into how dirt builds up on cars over time.

Getting this right is surprisingly important. The way vehicles collect dirt and grime plays a significant role in the overall atmosphere of the game, helping to make the world feel believable and lived-in.

In the screenshots below, you can see some of the iterations we went through while developing the dirt system.

Our first attempt focused on simply generating dirt on the vehicle surface. It provided us with a basic foundation and helped us test how the system would behave on different vehicles.

The next iteration pushed things much further visually. The effect was quite strong! Sometimes closer to heavy mud than realistic road dirt, but it served an important purpose. It made the dirt easier to see during testing and allowed us to validate other connected systems more quickly.

The current version more accurately represents the dirt you would see on a real vehicle. We’ve been refining the dirt shader, enhancing how textures blend and exposing parameters that allow us to control features such as the size and intensity of dirt patches. This provides us with greater flexibility when adjusting how vehicles get dirty in various situations.

We’re continuing to refine the system so that dirt feels natural and believable across different vehicles and conditions.

Let us know what you think, and we’ll see you in the next devlog!

Jobs & Driving Missions
Hey everyone!
While renting out vehicles is the core of Car Rental Simulator, we also want driving itself to play a meaningful role. That’s why we’re building a dynamic job system, where various missions appear over time, and players can decide which ones to take on.
Each job remains available for a limited period, so you’ll need to choose whether to accept it or let it pass. But don’t worry, new opportunities will continue to appear, ensuring there’s always something to do beyond managing your rental lot. We want players to have a reason to leave their business, get behind the wheel, and take part in activities across the city. These missions also serve as an additional source of income and introduce more variety into the gameplay loop.
Ride Evaluation Missions
In these missions, the client values comfort and driving style above all else. Your task is to drive smoothly and responsibly - no harsh braking, no sudden turns, no speeding, and definitely no crashes.
We’re developing a system that analyzes your driving behavior in real time. Based on your actions, you can lose driving style points. If your rating drops below the required threshold, the mission fails. Not all ride-based missions follow the same rules. Some may focus purely on reaching the destination within a time limit, regardless of driving style, or go through different checkpoints. This variety ensures different expectations and challenges depending on the job.
Vehicle Delivery Missions
In delivery missions, clients require a specific vehicle to be brought to a designated location. Sometimes the task comes with a time limit, adding extra pressure to the drive. These jobs test your route planning, traffic awareness, and ability to balance speed with vehicle safety. Delivering the car on time is important, but delivering it in good condition matters just as much.
Customization & Event Missions
We also have missions focused on adapting a vehicle to specific client requirements.
Our system allows players to modify the car’s body and add various visual elements, opening up creative possibilities. Some events may require a particular theme, specific props, or adherence to stylistic guidelines while avoiding repetition or mismatched elements.
At the same time, outside of mission constraints, players are free to personalize their vehicles however they like. This creates a balance between structured client expectations and full creative freedom.

Our goal with the job system is to make driving feel purposeful, and not just something you do between rentals, but an active and rewarding part of running your business. Let us know what you think, and we’ll see you in the next devlog!

How We Handle the Vehicle Handling
Hey everyone!
Driving is a core part of Car Rental Simulator, and we want every vehicle to feel right. That’s why we’ve built a flexible system that lets us fine-tune a wide range of parameters to shape each car’s driving characteristics.

As you can see in the screenshots, we can adjust values such as mass, center of mass, gear ratios, engine power curve, suspension height and stiffness, brake force, wheel settings, aerodynamics, and more. Even small tweaks to these parameters can significantly change how a vehicle behaves - how stable it feels in corners, how quickly it accelerates, or how it reacts to uneven terrain.

Our goal is to create a driving model that feels approachable and enjoyable for everyone, while still allowing each vehicle to maintain its own distinct personality. A lightweight city car shouldn’t behave the same as a heavier SUV, and a sporty model should respond differently from a utility vehicle. We want every car to have a recognizable feel that matches the type of vehicle it’s inspired by.

This tuning process takes time and testing, but it allows us to carefully balance accessibility with character - ensuring driving remains smooth, intuitive, and satisfying throughout the game.

Let us know what you think, and we’ll see you in the next devlog!

Shaping Winston Springs
Hey everyone!
In this devlog, we’d like to give you a closer look at how Winston Springs is coming together in Car Rental Simulator. We’ve been working on both new locations and updated versions of core areas to make the city feel cohesive, grounded, and ready to explore.

Winston Springs first appeared in Car Dealer Simulator, and it continues to inspire us. Our goal is to preserve its spirit and identity while building upon it in a way that feels natural and consistent within the rental business setting. Some parts of Winston Springs may look familiar, but they’ve been reworked and expanded. New buildings have appeared, certain areas have evolved, and recognizable spots now carry a slightly refreshed look.

We’re excited to continue shaping Winston Springs and showing you how the city keeps taking form. And we can assure you - there’s much more to come.

Let us know what you think, and we’ll see you in the next devlog!
