How do you get Monster Hunter Wilds Hunter Symbols? MH Wilds doesn't make it very clear that these hunts are available to you, but Hunter Symbols are a unique material used for crafting weapons and armor. They appear as a certificate in your inventory, as proof that you've hunted a Tempered monster.

Hunter Symbols in Monster Hunter Wilds can be earned by hunting Tempered monsters of varying difficulty. Five-star Tempered monsters drop Hunter Symbol I; six-star Tempered monsters drop Hunter Symbol II; and seven- or eight-star Tempered monsters drop Hunter Symbol III.
