Mega City Police | A Retro-Futuristic Devlog

It’s been a while since we’ve shared our first demo on itch.io, such good days, we’ve received immense support from you guys and we’re still receiving it today especially when we introduced Mega City Police: Prelude, and we’re extremely grateful for it 💙
We just want to keep you posted on what’s going on inside the Mega City HQ and share what we've been working on these days to make some great updates and deliver the best retro meets cop experience that makes you nostalgic, and we're excited to share some of them with you. Here are some of the biggest changes we've made since our last demo build:

We just want to keep you posted on what’s going on inside the Mega City HQ and share what we've been working on these days to make some great updates and deliver the best retro meets cop experience that makes you nostalgic, and we're excited to share some of them with you. Here are some of the biggest changes we've made since our last demo build:

[h2]Features:[/h2]
- We have collaborated with Droid Bishop and you can now listen to awesome music while you’re on your usual shifts as an officer cleaning the streets for justice!
- We've added a new weapon category to allocate all starting weapons and unlockable starting weapons. Plus, we've added 8 new weapons under the “Particle Weapons” category.
- We've added a noise system to improve the level's ground aesthetic, making the game even more immersive.
- Want to undo your selection? Now you can! We've added an undo selection functionality that allows you to go back to the cop selection menu instead of pausing the game.
- We've improved weapon balancing and now show the difference between two weapons stats with one bar followed by symbols “+ | - ” instead.
- The player is now allowed to trigger automatic interactions like opening a chest or walking on top of a pickup even if on fire. Fire won't stop you now!
- Added a cutscene showing the city skyline and leading to the credits when beating the game. (Huge thanks to everyone involved)
- You'll now get messages for failed contracts at the end of the level. So don't worry if you don't succeed, we've got you covered!
[h2]Fixes:[/h2]*A GOOD BUG IS A DEAD BUG*
- We've fixed a lot of bugs, including graphical bugs and incorrect configuration in weapons leading to a bad tooltip when inspecting it.
- We've reduced the chances of an enemy getting stuck on a prop significantly. Plus, we've added a system to return any enemy that has been pushed out of the map.
- We've finished abilities when the agent either dies or leaves the level, and we've fixed multiple bugs related to agent abilities.
- Plus, we've made multiple other fixes to improve the gameplay experience.
[h2]Aesthetics:[/h2]
- Trash added as ground noise in level 1, graffities on the walls of the first level, garbage cans and bags in the first level, and steaming drain grates in the floor of the first level. We've added a couple of taxis parked in the middle of the first level areas to enhance the city aesthetics. The game looks even more awesome now!
- We've modified and improved the sprites of multiple weapons to make them look more distinctive and unique.
- Cyborg's appearance has been reworked, making him look even cooler than before! More agents are being worked on as we speak (or read as you might notice)!
[h2]Balancing:[/h2]
- We've made multiple balancing changes to the game, including reducing the staticness of the Tengu miniboss in Japantown and increasing the melee range of the Oni miniboss in Japantown.
- Plus, we've made Allied Robots and AIs react faster when called upon, like the engineer’s drone or the detective’s robots.
[h2]Misc:[/h2]
- We've lowered the time to show in-game tooltips and changed the notifications for completing a contract to be green instead of white for clarity. Plus, we've made other small changes to make the game experience even better!
- The player is now allowed to trigger automatic interactions like opening a chest or walking on top of a pickup even if on fire.
[h2]Sound Effects:[/h2]
New sound effects implemented to enhance multiple animated sequences:
- New SFX along with the death sequence.
- New SFX along with the agent unlock sequence.
- New SFX along with the mission report sequence.
- New SFX along with the keys jingling in the difficulty unlock sequence.
New weapon sound effects:
- New SFX for the Atomic Flamethrower.
- New SFX for Frying pan and Shovel Melee weapons.

- Crates will soon have a chance of dropping weapons.
- More collaborations with artists for more awesome tracks maybe? 👀
- We heard all of your feedback and we’re going to rework the Tutorial!
- Steam Achievements are also in the works!

- We've completely revamped the game's graphics and gave it that old-school arcade look and feel. You'll feel like you're back in the '80s with every pixelated explosion.
- We've added new weapons, fixed abilities to give you even more ways to rid corruption. From the classic pistol to the high-tech flamethrower, you'll have everything you need to keep the peace in Mega City.
- We've fine-tuned the game's AI to make enemy behavior even more challenging and unpredictable. You'll need all your cop skills to outsmart these criminals and bring them to justice.
- We’ve updated some of the sound effects as well! (Guns and Gameplay)
- We've listened to your feedback as usual and made some adjustments to the game's controls to make them more intuitive and responsive.
