How to Play Endless Shift

[p]Endless Shift is a new game mode in FBC: Firebreak that challenges you and your squad to survive for as long as possible against escalating waves of enemies. Every run is different, every build is earned on the fly, and no two Shifts ever play out the same. [/p][p][/p][p]This guide walks you through how Endless Shift works, from combat basics to upgrades, power-ups, and long-term progression. [/p][p][/p]
What Is Endless Shift?
[p][/p][p]At its core, Endless Shift is a wave-based arena survival mode. You’re dropped into a sealed section of the Oldest House and tasked with holding the line against increasingly dangerous Hiss forces. [/p][p]Between waves, you’ll spend earned Corruption to upgrade your gear, unlock powerful Enhancements, and shape your build as you push deeper into the Shift. [/p][p]Survive as long as you can. When the team goes down, the Shift ends. [/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Combat Basics
[p][/p][p]Each Endless Shift run takes place in a closed arena designed for constant pressure and limited resources. [/p]
 • [p]Enemies arrive in waves that grow harder over time [/p]
 • [p]Later waves introduce new enemy types, Corrupted Items, and Powerful Enemies [/p]
 • [p]Resources are scarce: [/p]
 • [p]Only one healing shower, with limited uses [/p]
 • [p]No ammo dispensaries - ammo can only drop from enemies [/p]
 • [p]Players can be downed and revived during a wave [/p]
 • [p]If a downed player bleeds out, they’re out for the rest of that run [/p]
 • [p]If at least one teammate survives the wave, fallen players respawn at the start of the next round [/p]
[p]Team coordination and positioning become more important the longer your Shift lasts. [/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Corruption: Your Key Resource
[p][/p][p]Every enemy you defeat drops Corruption, the currency used to power your build. [/p]
 • [p]Different enemies drop different amounts [/p]
 • [p]Corruption must be collected before the wave ends, or it’s lost [/p]
 • [p]Collected Corruption is shared across the team [/p]
 • [p]Each player spends their share individually [/p]
[p]Smart movement and quick decisions matter. Leaving Corruption behind can cost you crucial upgrades. [/p][p][/p][p][/p]
The Shop & Upgrades
[p][/p][p]After each wave, you’ll enter the shop phase, where your build starts to take shape. [/p][p]Each player is offered three randomized choices, which can include: [/p]
 • [p]Enhancements (passive upgrades) [/p]
 • [p]Tools [/p]
 • [p]Neutralizers [/p]
 • [p]Grenades [/p]
 • [p]Weapons [/p]
[p]Enhancements come in different forms: [/p]
 • [p]Unique – powerful upgrades that can only be acquired once [/p]
 • [p]Leveled – upgrades that scale from Level 1 to 5 [/p]
 • [p]Stackable – single-level upgrades that can be picked multiple times [/p]
[p]You can reroll your choices for a Corruption cost, but each reroll becomes more expensive. Once everyone has locked in their selection (or the timer runs out), the next wave begins. [/p][p]Unspent Corruption carries over between waves, but once the run ends, it resets. [/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Weapons in Endless Shift
[p][/p][p]Endless Shift uses familiar weapons from FBC: Firebreak, but they’re introduced gradually as the difficulty increases. [/p]
 • [p]Round 1: You start with SMG, Double Barrel Shotgun, or Revolver [/p]
 • [p]Round 9: You can choose Machine Gun, Bolt-action Rifle, or Pump-action Shotgun [/p]
 • [p]Round 19: You can choose Scattergun, Rotary Cannon, or Semi-Automatic Rifle [/p]
[p]You’re never forced to switch - sticking with a weapon that fits your build is always an option. [/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Power-Ups
[p][/p][p]Strong and Powerful enemies have a chance to drop Power-Ups during combat. These appear in the arena and can be picked up at any time. [/p][p]Power-Ups include: [/p]
 • [p]Vacuum – instantly collects all Corruption on the ground [/p]
 • [p]Nuke – wipes out weaker enemies and heavily damages stronger ones [/p]
 • [p]Torch – sets all enemies ablaze [/p]
 • [p]Snowflake – freezes all enemies [/p]
 • [p]Healing Cell – heals the entire team [/p]
[p]Power-Ups persist until picked up, letting you save them for the perfect moment. Some Enhancements can further amplify their effects. [/p][p] [/p]
Rewards & Progression

[p]When your Endless Shift run ends, you’ll be presented with a progression screen that permanently expands what’s possible in future runs. [/p]
 • [p]The number of waves you completed determines how many Enhancement boxes you access to – but you can only choose to open one [/p]
 • [p]Unlocking Enhancements increases the variety of upgrades that can appear in future shops[/p]
 • [p]Higher wave boxes contain more powerful Enhancements [/p]
 • [p]Each Enchantment box has its own fixed content, the contents are not randomized [/p]
 • [p]A separate Milestone Track progresses simply by playing Endless Shift, unlocking new Enhancements and cosmetics [/p]
[p]There’s also a twist: [/p][p]After each run, some Enhancements you used may linger. When you jump into a Crisis job afterward, one of these Enhancements can activate for that session - connecting Endless Shift directly to the core Firebreak experience. [/p][p]You can see how many and what Enhancements you have lingering in the menu in the bottom right corner of screen when choosing a Crisis. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
One More Shift…
[p][/p][p]Endless Shift is all about experimentation, risk, and pushing your limits. Some runs will end quickly. Others might turn you into something unstoppable - until they don’t. [/p][p]Grab your squad, adapt on the fly, and see how long you can last. [/p]

Voice Chat Out Now, Update on Rogue Protocol and a First Look at Endless Shift

[p]We have a quick update to share about what’s next for FBC: Firebreak.[/p][p][/p][p]Cross-platform voice chat is available now across all platforms - a long-requested feature that lets you coordinate with your squad no matter where you play. You can read the patch notes here.[/p][p][/p][p]While we’re excited to roll that out today, the Rogue Protocol Major Update, originally planned to launch alongside it still needs a bit more time. We’re now aiming to release Rogue Protocol in January 2026.[/p][p][/p][p]As we mentioned in the September roadmap, this update will include a completely new game mode. The extra time will help us make sure everything feels right: polished, balanced, and worthy of your time.[/p][p][/p][p]But since we know many of you are eager to see what’s coming next, here’s a small glimpse into that new mode.[/p][p][/p]
Endless Shift
[p][/p][p]Disclaimer: Screens shown are from a development build and do not represent final quality.[/p][p][/p][p]As the influence of the Hiss continues to rise across the Oldest House, multiple sectors are nearing collapse. Inside these dangerous and infected places, nothing is immune to the chaotic warping caused by the corruption, not even Firebreak. [/p][p][/p][p]Firebreakers are sent into these sealed arenas and tasked with holding the line for as long as they can - an assignment known as an Endless Shift. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Each Endless Shift drops you and your team into a sealed arena where waves of enemies grow tougher with every round. You always start with only the bare essentials to fight with. After each wave, you’ll collect Corruption, a strange residue left behind by defeated enemies. This energy can be spent between rounds to unlock powerful upgrades, weapons, and enhancements, letting you shape a completely new build every run. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Some upgrades amplify your weapon’s raw power, others twist your abilities in unexpected ways and stacking them can lead to wild, game-breaking synergies. Every choice matters: do you gamble your Corruption on another reroll for something even better, or take what you have and push on? [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The deeper you go, the more distorted the battlefield becomes. Expect new enemy combinations, elite foes, and the kind of escalating chaos that rewards teamwork, improvisation, and a little bit of madness. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Endless Shift has its own exclusive rewards and some of the more weirder corruptions you gain in the mode linger with you, meaning you can use them when playing the next Crisis from the Crisis Board, connecting the new game mode to the main game in a cool way. [/p][p][/p][p]That’s all we’ll say for now. Thank you for your patience, and for continuing to support FBC: Firebreak. We’re working hard to make Endless Shift worth the wait. [/p][p][/p][p]Stay vigilant, [/p][p]The FBC: Firebreak Team [/p]
