Marriage Update is Here!

Hello friends!

We're happy to announce a large update today centered around the addition of Marriage to Mirthwood. Without further ado, let's jump into what's in this update.

Marriage

You can now propose to any romanceable NPC in Mirthwood. Should your proposal be accepted, your spouse will move to the farm after a humble wedding ceremony.

We've reworked NPC Skills with this update, so you may want to make sure you and your significant other are compatible long-term. Your spouse's Skills will determine the type of items they'll collect ( ...or destroy), while their overall happiness can affect their productivity.

Your spouse will help out on the farm, and even give you tasks from time to time. Their are several "Spouse Types", which essentially determine your spouse's love language; some may prefer gifts, some conversation, while others may prefer acts of service.

If ignored for too long... their productivity won't be the only thing to leave.

Hired Hands

You are now be able to hire NPCs to perform a number of different jobs - whether you need some help on the farm, or someone to brave the mines in search of ore.

Learning what characters are skilled at will help you get the best results. Plus, if you're on good terms, they'll be more inclined to lower their price.

Layered Armor

We've added some new armor types: Cuirasses and Greaves. These plate armors can be equipped over your shirts and pants, giving much greater visual customization for you character and a wider variety armor to craft at your anvil.

Generated Quests

In addition to reworked Skills and Hiring, NPCs will now have occasional radiant quests for players. They'll ask for your help with different tasks: Hunting, gathering, bounties, deliveries, acquiring medicine, and more. Help them out or leave them hanging, the choice is yours.

What else?

There's still a bit more in this update. We've greatly expanded the types of fish that can be caught, added upgraded fishing rods, new recipes, diagrams, loot, and a Craftsman's Table to get to work on some new home goods. We added new Social tab to help keep track of relationships and hired hands, and you can now track NPCs on the map.

We hope you enjoy the update and, as always, let us know what you think. The best place to do so is in our wonderful Discord community. You can check out the full patch notes below.

In the meantime, we're getting right back to work on more for Mirthwood.

Mirthwood finally adds marriage in huge, smooch-filled update, and it's on sale

Stardew Valley truly pioneered the cozy game genre. It has everything from crafting to farming, and from dynamic villager relations to fully-rounded romance. As a result, it feels like every life game has to have those exact same elements - realistically, we all just want to smooch our favorite villagers. Mirthwood, a farming sim that transports Stardew's traditional mechanics into a hand-drawn, Fable-esque world, has sadly been lacking in the marriage department, but not anymore. Rejoice, my hopeless romantics: Mirthwood is finally letting you tie the knot, and it's currently available at a discount.
