We're Steam Deck Verified!

[p]Happy Friday, folks!

Just dropping a quick note to let you know that Mirthwood is officially Steam Deck verified![/p][p][/p][p]If you missed our most recent dev update - check it out here to see what's coming next! One thing we didn’t mention there: the Foundations Update will add more than 40 new items to vendors. Since we're currently working on Festivals, below are a just few of the items you can pick up exclusively during the Festival of Blossoms (Spring).[/p][p][/p][p]A huge thanks to you all for playing (and leaving reviews)! Patch 1.0.94p2

- Optimizations for particle & weather effects
- Improved scaling/readability for more UI menus, controller glyph/prompts
- Improved Character Creation text/sizing/localization, profession card controller navigation issues
- Change Sleep interact option to start from 2nd interact button (F) to avoid accidental sleeps
- Fix Crafting menu not properly clearing item card / requirements when a category had no options unlocked
- Fix dialogue option selection issue for controllers (wrong/previous selection used)
- Fix UI move input repeating too quickly only on controllers and too slow on keyboard
- Fix upper floor image sometimes not loading
- Fix for enemies getting stuck underground
- Fix for some items like Small Stone Fountain unable to be placed
- Fix issue of game/control pause when picking up previously discovered clues/notes
- Fix for issues linking old/changed quests possibly causing crashes (Humble Beginnings)
- Update localization (feather vendor, copper toolkit)

- Fix Player Farm not loading during tutorial
- Fix input state issue when changing from tutorial to main world
- Fix Forest Shrine resetting (any lost items will come back now)

- Fix issue with horse & some seeds missing from seed vendor

September Development Update

[p]Hey folks, we're here to give you an update on the new things coming to Mirthwood as we draw closer to the end of the year. As always, thank you for your feedback! We monitor all of it as we continue to work on building & improving Mirthwood.[/p][p][/p][p]We've released a small update today with performance and early game improvements:[/p]

  • [p]Updated early quests for smoother onboarding[/p]
  • [p]Balance adjustments to reduce early game grind[/p]
  • [p]Increased amount of seeds available for purchase from seeds vendor[/p]
  • [p]Lowered cost of farm animals[/p]
  • [p]Add lower cost (and slower) mount[/p]
  • [p]You can now expand available tool slots (inventory)[/p]
  • [p]New HUD notifications for important info (e.g. low hunger, weak tool, etc.)[/p]

What's up next?
[p]We're hard at work on some larger Mirthwood updates, which we plan to bring before the calendar turns to 2026 (...!). The dates here are subject to change (cuz game dev), but this is the target. We'll have more details and previews as we inch closer to each of these updates.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][h3]1. Steam Deck Verification (September-October)[/h3][p]Steam Deck Verification is just around the corner. We're making a few final tweaks based on Valve’s feedback (mostly minor scaling adjustments). That said... we’ve already put a lot of work into optimization of late, and the game runs well on Deck even now. So if you’re eager to dive in, go for it! Otherwise, the official Verified badge shouldn’t be far off.[/p][p][/p][h3]2. Foundations Update (late October)[/h3][p]The foundations update will bring new features and content ranging from Festivals, to Random Encounters, to larger World Events. These additions will help to breathe new life into the world, and introduce life & death consequences to its denizens:[/p]

Some improvements, mostly to help new players with the early game, and bug fixes

- Add new interactable highlight on trees, rocks, herbs, loot & pickups
- Add new step to "Humble Beginnings" quest, "Craft a Hoe at the Anvil" for better clarity
- Add new visual indicator when player is hidden behind terrain
- "Steal" interact text is red to help make it more obvious
- Improve some text sizing and scaling to make various text more readable
- Slightly improve chat and combat voice sounds for female characters
- New default settings automatically applied for Steam Deck (improved performance & battery)
- Fix an issue with animals maturing faster than intended, and growing larger but not changing to the adult visuals
- Fix various causes of interaction issues for NPCs such as using upgraded tools or picking up eggs (particularly spouse/children or hired farmhands)
- Fix some doorways/ramps that blocked NPC movement
- Let NPCs go through gates
