Goodyear event community contest results

We have been super busy in the recent days. Our On The Road team had to split up to visit five different countries on three continents in the past two weeks! Finally we are back in the office today to prepare the summary of both the Goodyear event and the community screenshot contest.

It is clear that our World of Trucks events engage and entertain the player community, we have been in fact surprised by the level of participation. We were glad to see that nobody complained much when we extended the event to give people more time to complete all the event jobs. The numbers are in, and so many people finished 10 jobs and earned the achievement!

For the community screenshot contest, there were over 2,000 valid entries (and much more photos actually, as many of you posted more than one). Many of the shots were absolutely stunning! Same as with our previous competitions, judging those entries was a pretty hard task because there's always way more beautiful pictures than there are slots for the winners.

Nevertheless, it had to be done and here are the winners! Feel free to express your love for these pictures too; the names are hyperlinked, so you are welcome to click on their names and give them a like!

All the winners above will be contacted shortly via the same platform they entered through; if you're one of them, do check your messages and choose your reward from our e-shop!

Thank you all for participation in Goodyear event. Until next time!

A real-life story

We are always excited and humbled at the same time when we hear that our games have profoundly and positively affected the lives of our fans. Marcus Armstrong sent us his story:

To everyone at SCS Software, especially those dealing with Euro Truck Simulator and American Truck Simulator. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone involved, even though you have kind of lost a player.

I use to be an avid fan of the series playing Euro Truck Simulator, UK Truck Simulator and then both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, investing in steering wheels, Track IR and gear sticks for my PC.

Two years ago the company I worked for had been turning in a direction I was not overly comfortable with. I felt that it was moving away from its core values and what defined it as unique and I started considering an exit strategy. This exit strategy becomes more important when, out of a team of three, one of us had to take voluntary redundancy.

As the youngest team member in my mid-thirties, I decided that I would be in the best position to get started a new career, a career in different industry as I was a little burnt out doing what I was doing. I needed to be able to get into an industry where I could retrain quickly and earn what I was earning before, or more. I ended up, within a two month period, passing both HGV Class 2 and then Class 1 license. By the third month, I had a job with R.T. Keedwell which I have been doing for the last couple of years, driving a Mercedes Actros MP4 (which I am currently writing this from a truck stop for the night, good ol' Hotel Mercedes).

So why am I thanking you guys and gals at SCS? Well out of several industries I had been trained in; Web Dev, 3D Animation, Administration and Finance, it was ETS2 and ATS which I had enjoyed playing so much that I decided to take out a loan to cover the training costs and then base not just my career on, but my lifestyle as well, I am a Trucker (even grew the beard). I'm currently racking up 2500km a week driving all over the UK where no two days are quite the same and I meet countless people from the companies we haul for and other drivers.

SCS, you gave me the inspiration to venture out into a career I had never would have thought of and now love doing. So again, a huge heartfelt thank you and keep up the good work!

Thank you, Marcus, we are so happy for you! We wish you all the best and safe returns from your hauls.

Marcus is actually an Actros driver as you could notice from the text and photo. What a lucky coincidence - conveniently, we happen to have a very related project in the very final stages of development. More information will be available really soon.

A look back at our Gamescom 2019

We are back home after an exciting and exhausting marathon that is Gamescom.

It was our honor and joy to meet so many of our fans in person. Thank you for stopping by! We are proud to have captured the attention of thousands of visitors, with so many people ready to stand for hours in the long queue to give a try to our truck sim motion seat setups. There was a reward there - a chance to be the first to drive through segments of the upcoming American Truck Simulator - Utah and Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Road to the Black Sea map DLC expansions.

Of course, we are well aware that only a small fraction of our games' fan base can make it to any gaming expo. So if you are interested in at least getting an impression of the atmosphere of a major gaming show from our perspective, we have created a short video recap for you. We'd also like to thank all the hardware and equipment manufacturers for their support in making sure that playing our games at Gamescom has been a first-class experience.

Road to the Black Sea: Romanian Cities

Romania, known for its beautiful forested regions and mountain ranges, is also home to many preserved historical cities. Many of them feature buildings and landmarks that have stood there for many years, but also are home to a variety of different Soviet-era homes and apartment blocks.

As you drive on the roads in Romania in our upcoming map expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2, Road to the Black Sea, you will be able to explore these unique cities for yourselves.

Many of these areas were chosen for their surrounding industries, such as steelworks or manufacturing, which plays an important part in the economy of the country.

When the time arrives, we are sure you will love exploring these cities for yourself. You never know what piece of history you may find around the corner.

Hello from Gamescom 2019!

It's the start of Gamescom 2019 hosted in Cologne, Germany! We are excited to be among so many different game developers and communities at this great event. We are also happy to be showcasing our games and expansions in a new and unique booth this year, which has been built in a truck garage-styled theme.

It features not only our famous SCS Motion Simulators but a range of PC setups with a variety of accessories and PC peripherals. A huge thank you to Thrustmaster, Steelseries, Tobii , Intel, Alienware and Speedseats for providing these fantastic setups.

So make sure if you are visiting this week, to swing by Hall 6 at Booth B050, and say hello to our developer team and take a drive of ETS2 or ATS, which may even feature a few roads from future expansion. We'd love to also see you take plenty of photos & videos, just use the hashtag #GamescomTrucking and we will be sure to see them.

If are unable to make it, don't worry! You can keep up to date with us with what we're up to on location from our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook Pages (SCS Software, Euro Truck Simulator 2, American Truck Simulator).
