1.53 Germany Rework - Berlin

Willkommen in Berlin! Today, we have a preview for our #BestCommunityEver of the reworked capital city of Germany. Without further ado, let's take a look at what's in store in the next phase of this rework project.

As the capital and largest city of Germany both by area and by population, Berlin is one of the largest projects completed by our rework team. Renowned for its exceptional range of landmarks, vibrant cultural scene, and its place in history, it attracts the most tourists over all other cities in Germany.

Truckers delivering to this reworked city can look forward to driving both around and through Berlin, including a new route that travels alongside the famous Brandenburg Gate, Blauer Obelisk, Victory Column, and University Island with plenty of stunning landmarks. But that is not all, as we could not leave out St. Mary's Church, the Fernsehturm (Television Tower), and Alexanderplatz, so keep an eye out for these iconic places too.

We also had to adjust and enlarge the ring road around Berlin, which is now a respectable fourteen in-game kilometres long. We also completely revamped two intersections in the city to better represent reality and added a brand-new one which will lead you to a new car factory inspired by its real-life counterpart.

For the industries represented in Berlin, we have decided to separate them into two areas. In the northern part of the capital city, you will find a chemical plant, oil storage, and container plaza which are all part of the historic buildings included in the port.

When going to the southern part of the city, you'll pass by the Messe Berlin area (Trade Fair Grounds) which has also been recreated along with the Internationales Congress Centrum, a stunning futuristic building. Apart from that, you will find a purchasable garage there as well as tranquil housing neighbourhoods located alongside the river.

Berlin was the last German city we had to rework which means that all the cities in the Germany Rework project are now done! We will keep you updated about other ETS2 news and the Germany Rework project as well on our social media (X/Twitter, Instagram, FacebookYouTube, and TikTok), so make sure to follow us there.

Driving Academy Release

Today, we are very happy to announce that Driving Academy is now available for Euro Truck Simulator 2! A few weeks ago, we announced this new game module in this blog and showed you a preview of it in some of our live streams, and now you can finally try it out for yourself.

As was mentioned in the previous blog we released about Driving Academy, we are venturing into new territory, inspired by years of feedback from players who have told us that our games have helped them grasp the basics of truck driving. Many have used it to get a sense of handling a truck and trailer, learning how to maneuver and reverse. With this in mind, we thought we'd take it a step further with this free update which includes sets of scenarios designed to improve and expand these skills in a fun and captivating way.

We've prepared a short video just for you, explaining everything you need to know about Driving Academy. It also includes a brief yet comprehensive guide on how to get started and make the most out of the game module.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
This new game module will provide you with various scenarios of increasing difficulty inspired by instructions given to real-life students. You will go from basic driving to navigating intricate courses and complex parking maneuvers with a detailed explanation via driving instructions including diagrams, pointers, and directions. We also wanted to allow drivers to analyze their drive so we have implemented a new replay feature into this game module as well.

If we get positive feedback from our community, we would love to continue creating additional scenarios and special challenges in the future that real-life truck drivers may encounter on the road. Our dream is for this game module to offer a deeper understanding of both truck driving and the underlying systems, as well as when to use them. But that is still a long way to go.

We hope you will enjoy this new game module. Make sure to share your videos or photos with us by tagging us on social media (X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube), we are really eager to see those! Also, keep your eyes on our channels so you do not miss out on more upcoming Driving Academy content.

1.53 Update: Germany Rework

Yes, you read that correctly! Today we're happy to share with you a preview into the next phase of the Germany Rework for Euro Truck Simulator 2, which is currently planned to be completed for the 1.53 update. This phase features several cities from across Germany, each which have been completely reworked from the ground up. Let's take a closer look, shall we?
München
Welcome to the Capital of Bavaria! Best known for its annual Oktoberfest celebrations and its numerous architectural & cultural attractions, it is the third largest city in Germany. When reworking this city, we paid close attention to the real life layout of the road network and junctions which truck drivers use to enter in and out of city, and recreated it to the best of our ability and scale limits.

Whilst truck drivers will be unable to visit the historical part of München (for now..), drivers will find a completely new industry area located north of the western junction (Roads 99/304), which features a new garage and new truck dealers. This includes a very well known car manufacturer, who has their HQ here, which is featured alongside some new and existing landmarks.
Mannheim
Mannheim is the city of inventions! As the birthplace of the car, the bicycle and the tractor, it continues to be a centre of invention and progress today. Because of this, the city has a rich cultural and economic heritage. You won't only find the city reworked, but also the whole surrounding area. This includes the addition of a part of the Bundesautobahn 6.

Industry-wise, you'll find the HQ of the largest chemical producer in the world, and a petroleum industry. We've also added in the north-west a new junction which now leads to the L527 road. With this addition, our rework team was also able to squeeze in the village of Maxdorf. You'll also find some familiar roads and industries which have been reworked, such as the R1 road which leads to the sawmill and quarry.
Leipzig
Arts, culture, music and more, Leipzig has it all! Whilst a relatively small city, there is still plenty for truckers to explore here, including a variety of historical landmarks, including the Opera House, which was opened in 1693, the University of Leipzig, which is one of the world's oldest universities and the the Leipzig Hauptbahnhof (Train Station) which at the time of its opening, was one of the largest in the world!

If you're living in Europe and received a package, chances are that it has travelled through Leipzig Airport! As one of the top four cargo hubs in Europe, thanks to its round-the-clock operations, its freight volume totals more than 1.4 million tons a year. We're happy to have the opportunity to include this major delivery point for our players in this rework.
Dresden
As the capital of the Saxony, Dresden has a variety of museums, historical relics and features some of the most fantastic Baroque architecture in Germany. Our team has reworked the city and the road network which truckers most frequently use around it. You'll find plenty of landmarks in the area, as well as art murals which can be found on the viaducts across Dresden.

Economy-wise, the team concentrated mostly on industries found in and around the Port of Dresden. This of course includes the river port too. We hope you like the work and detail that has been put into this historical, but bustling city!

We really hope you enjoyed this preview into the major rework that is being undertaken by the team, be sure to let them know what you think of their work so far on our Social Media channels, we'd love to hear from you. However, there is still one more city which we've yet to cover, BE sure to keep an eye out for a future blog, because it's gonna be big. Bis zum nächsten Mal!

Greece - Corinth Canal

Another blog from our upcoming Greece map expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is here! Today, we would like to give you a sneak peek at the famous Corinth Canal which we just could not leave out when creating this DLC, so let's take a look.

First, let's go on a brief journey into the history of the place. The Corinth Canal separates the Peloponnese Peninsula and the Greek mainland - at a width of approximately 6 kilometres, it connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf. Its importance is undeniable as plans to build this waterway first occurred in the 6th century BCE but it could not be built because it would be too complicated at the time. It was made possible by the invention of dynamite in the 19th century - the canal was completed in just three years between 1891 and 1893.

Building the Corinth Canal saved ships from an almost 400 kilometres detour around the entire Peloponnese. The canal itself is 84 metres deep, which makes it a spectacular sight for the many visitors that go there every year. Being a conical shape, it is 75 metres wide at the top but only 21 to 24 metres wide at the bottom with the water level rising to 8 metres.

So how will this marvel look in our representation of Greece in ETS2? Well, almost exactly the same of course! Our map designers recreated the major bridges that go across the canal, with two tailored for road traffic and one for the railroad. In the surrounding area, truckers can rest at a nearby gas station and also a rest stop. Apart from that, you will also be able to find a viewpoint so that drivers can admire this landmark in all its glory!

We hope you are looking forward to this map expansion finally arriving. If you are, make sure to add the Greece DLC to your Steam Wishlist. Remember that the content you see in this blog is still a work in progress and may change until this DLC's release. Don't forget to stay tuned and follow us on our X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok for all the latest updates. Safe travels!

Pinktober 2024

Every October since 1985, organizations and people from around the world help raise awareness and support local charities in the fight against Breast Cancer. Known as Pinktober, this special month is marked by the iconic pink ribbon, a symbol of unity and strength. It also serves as a reminder that breast cancer impacts many lives, and that we should educate, inform, and empower individuals to make proactive choices about their health.

At the heart of Pinktober is the importance of knowledge and awareness. Recognizing the signs and symptoms of breast cancer can lead to early detection, which significantly improves outcomes. By committing to regular self-exams and professional check-ups, we can play a crucial role in safeguarding our own health. Moreover, sharing this vital information with those around us helps amplify the mission of breast cancer awareness.

Pinktober reminds us all that taking care of our health should be a top priority. Encouraging regular screenings, health check-ups, and advocating for these practices within our communities, friends and families is at the core of what this campaign stands for.

Since 2019, we've been proud to actively support and bring awareness to this important cause. Our community has been at the core in helping us raise funds for our local charity of choice, the Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer, by purchasing our special Pinktober DLCs for American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 from which 100% of the income goes to charity every year.

We've had the pleasure of meeting with those involved in this charity organisation, as well as hosting numerous educational talks at our offices in the past. We encourage you to check out their work at their website, which you can find here.

We'd like to express our sincerest gratitude to every player who has purchased these special charity packs, your contributions have helped save lives and support those who are directly impacted by Breast Cancer.

If you're looking to make a tangible impact and add some unique flair to your trucks, now is a perfect time to purchase or gift these DLCs. By customizing your trucks with Pink Ribbon designs and sharing them online using #Pinktober2024, you can help spread awareness while supporting the cause.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported Pinktober over the years. Whether through donations, awareness campaigns, or participating in educational events, your efforts have a lasting impact. Together, we continue to bring hope and change to the lives of those affected by breast cancer.
