'Labor of Love' Steam Award 2023 Nomination for Euro Truck Simulator 2

This year’s edition of the annual Steam Awards has begun and the nominations are open, along with the Steam Autumn Sale.

We will always remember with pride the honor of Euro Truck Simulator 2 winning in two categories during the very first Steam Awards back in 2016. It would be a dream come true for all our developers working on ETS2 or ATS to see any of our games being nominated for this year's awards finals once again.

Over the past years, we continuously supported our games with updates and regular new content. We still have several big and smaller features, exciting and brand-new projects in development, along with a few map expansions and several new vehicles. We are always trying our best to transition the passion of our teams for our titles into the in-game environment and we can’t wait to show you everything we’ve been cooking on for you.

Because of our ongoing development, you will be able to nominate both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator for the 'Labor of Love' category which is dedicated to games that are constantly evolving with new additions.

If you like our games and the love we keep bringing for them - giving us your vote in this category would be a perfect way to express that you are a member of the #BestCommunityEver!

Thank you so much!

The Steam Page for West Balkans is buzzing with positive vibes, thanks to the numerous glowing reviews it has received. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took a moment to leave a review or provide constructive feedback about the West Balkans! Here are a few highlights. If you wish to contribute your own review, feel free to do so on the West Balkans Steam Store Page.

Our latest DLC has also managed to catch the eye of some official press coverage, for example, the Soda Game portal which gave it a great review! If you're not sure about adding West Balkans to your Euro Truck Simulator 2 map, check out the full article.

In addition, we reached out to some of your beloved content creators, who have been tirelessly recording and streaming their trucking adventures in the new map expansion. A big shoutout to these creators for sharing their insights, and allowing us to relay them to our blog readers.

"One year ago I started playing Euro Truck Simulator and since then I have been waiting for this DLC and finally it’s here! The new West Balkan DLC is amazing and I was excited to be driving in all the new countries. The cities that you can drive through are really well-made, and there is a lot of them! The DLC contains a lot of beautiful scenery and nice details. I really enjoyed exploring the different landmarks. I have been stopping at the viewpoints just to watch them in both day- and nighttime, which I need to confess has made me need to go a bit over the speed limit to deliver my cargo in time afterwards. I love to travel in real life, and I've been fortunate enough to visit some of the places featured in this DLC. I can wholeheartedly attest that the developers have done an outstanding job capturing the essence and appearance of these locations." - SWE_Beforewefall.

"The Western Balkans is an amazing DLC. The development team has once again managed to surpass themselves. Each of the eight countries has its own atmosphere and captures its unique character, as it is in real life. Special attention should be given to the stunning detail of the roads and, especially, the cities. The capital of Albania will linger in my heart for a long time, and I will return there again and again. The coastal cities will instantly immerse you in an atmosphere of relaxation and leisure. For those who enjoy challenging parking, there are a couple of places where you need to demonstrate all your previously accumulated experience. In a word, the Balkans are my love!" - TheAlive55.

"Whether it was the sea views from the highways in Croatia, the winding roads in Montenegro or exploring cities like Tirana and Sarajevo, there was always something to look at. I really enjoyed exploring the various secret roads, where in many places it was a real challenge to drive with a semi-trailer. My absolute favourite location is the road to the Crno Drvo warehouse - north of Nikšić in Montenegro. This location may look ordinary on the map, but the drive up here literally took my breath away. A winding road overlooking the mountains, with a river running along the road. With a view like that, it's hard to keep your eyes on the road. I enjoyed every single moment of exploring the new West Balkans DLC. Thank you SCS Software for the opportunity to check out this new content as part of Early Access." - Gamekeepers_cz.

"West Balkans is a DLC you have to get without hesitation! For our community, it was an exciting moment to drive through Serbia, the country of origin of our team. We really enjoyed taking photos on the coloured bridge to Belgrade. You will also find some really challenging hidden roads and some other amazing places between the mountains and the sea. Some of the smaller gas stations are perfect for chilling around and taking some photos for your album. I had fun playing solo and doing some heavy cargo deliveries on challenging roads with two pilot drivers helping me. Thank you SCS Software for including me in the early access. I enjoyed sharing this new content with my community." - SRB_Yolas.

And lastly, we want to express our sheer awe at the collective power of the #BestCommunityEver. To celebrate the DLC release, we initiated a World of Trucks event with a community goal of driving 300,000,000 kilometres while delivering cargo to or from any city in the West Balkans and/or Road to the Black Sea DLC. Astonishingly, you've surpassed this goal in less than two weeks. Kudos! Just a gentle reminder, you still have until December 19th at 23:59 UTC to claim your personal rewards, detailed in the dedicated blog post.

In conclusion, we want to reiterate our gratitude for the overall feedback and extend a humble bow before the monumental support. Our developers pour their passion into game design, and witnessing it resonate through such incredible feedback is truly heartening. Thank you all immensely!

Czech & Slovak Games Week 2023

Today marks the beginning of Czech & Slovak Games Week, an annual event that celebrates games created by studios based in the countries of Czechia and Slovakia. Our studio has been around for over 25 years, witnessing the major growth of the local games industry. During our humble beginnings, there were less than than a hundred individuals creating games on a professional basis in our countries. These days, well over 2,000 people in the region are making a living creating games, and making quite an impact on the global gaming scene. What a ride it has been!

We may not be the oldest studio, but we are proud to be a part of this growth from the early years, and we are honoured to partner up with so many fantastic and creative studios during this week-long celebration.

Many of the games participating will be celebrating by offering cool discounts on Steam and any platforms where players can find them. Unfortunately, we used up our available discount slot recently on the launch of the West Balkans DLC, and we will only be able to do a promotional sale around the time of the Kansas DLC launch (wink wink). Still, we wanted to support the CZ & SK Games week in some way on Steam and give the people exploring the vast offering of locally produced games a bargain to try our titles as well; Or to catch up, in case they already own one of our flagship truck simulators, but were looking for an excuse to try the other one. We have found a working solution on Steam - a dedicated bundle may do just the trick! We are aware that most of our readers probably know our games in and out, but it may still be a good way of growing our fanbase.

[Check out the Czech & Slovak Games Week Bundle here]

One part of Czech & Slovak Games Week that always stands out is the unique and beautiful artwork that accompanies it. Anna Voříšková, one of our talented 2D artists, continues to be the main driving force behind the creation of these wonderful designs. We spoke with her to learn more about the process on creating artwork for such an event.

"This is the fourth year I've volunteered to create artwork for the event, and I feel like with each year I continue to challenge myself more and more in terms of the art's vision and composition." Annie explains "It's always my job to design everything, from start to finish, which is a very challenging job and a huge responsibility, but to see it done, see the event up and running, is such a rewarding feeling. I'm very proud of what we've accomplished together with my teammates at GDACZ."

"The theme I've chosen for this year's event is "togetherness". Czechia and Slovakia have a very warm relationship and I wanted to represent it in the artwork. The two characters - a Czech girl and a Slovak boy - play through a platformer together to reach a common goal, while munching on some popular local snacks. The platformer itself also pictures various landmarks from both Czechia and Slovakia. I really wanted the artwork to have an educational impact as well - it tells you a little about the culture of both countries."

"The cover art took around 30 hours to design, sketch, outline, colour, and polish. The details and clean, intricate lines are mostly to blame. I did most of the work on my iPad, which I like to take to cafés for a little change of scenery. And no, I really don't wanna think about the cost of all the large Starbucks coffees I had to consume to get it done!"

We are proud of the work Anna undertakes in her own time for this special event! The Czech & Slovak Games Week takes place between November 13th and November 20th and features a number of discounts for locally created games across a multitude of platforms, along with digital events and online streams. We urge you to check it out for yourself! You can find the Czech & Slovak Games Week Steam page right here.

SCS On The Road - From ETS2 Player to Kögel Trailer Career

In this episode of SCS on the Road, our journey took us to Burtenbach, Germany, where we met Kevin - a living testament to the seamless blend of virtual passion and professional reality. Kevin, an avid Euro Truck Simulator 2 player, now serves as an IT professional at Kögel Trailer, and his story unfolds as a testament to the unexpected turns life can take.

Our primary aim during this visit was to capture the essence of Kögel Trailer so we could accurately transfer them to the world of Euro Truck Simulator 2. Kevin showed us around and walked us through his remarkable transformation from enthusiast to professional. His transition from navigating digital landscapes to optimizing real-world IT solutions for trailers is a great example of the unexpected turns life can take within the gaming industry.
