SCS On The Road: Scania Demo Centre

At the end of last week, a small crew returned from an exciting and promising business trip to Södertälje, Sweden, where both the Scania headquarters and their Demo Centre are located.

Our excellent relationship with Scania meant we were able to organize a very interesting agenda for our visit. While the main goal of our crew was to record the sounds of a few of Scania's new engines, we have also been able to spice up our schedule a bit with activities related to a few other promising projects too. These will have to remain secret for some time, but we are sure you will love what we have planned.

When it comes to the sound-recording part of our trip to Södertälje, we are happy to have successfully gathered samples and material for three amazing engines Scania offers for their trucks - the 560HP Super (Inline 6), the 590HP V8, and the mighty 770HP V8. We would like to use this opportunity to say a massive thank you to Helene, Joar, and their teams from Scania who helped make this happen and made our team feel like honored guests. It's always great for us to see when partners like Scania take any cooperation or project with us this seriously.

We can't really promise when you can expect all this material to be processed and implemented into the game, but when they are ready you can look forward to new engine options for Scania trucks along with their authentic sounds!

Switzerland Rework - Geneve

Last month we officially announced our plans to rework the country of Switzerland in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and since the work is progressing really nicely, we are now ready to take a look at another wonderful city that will receive a fresh look in this challenging project - Geneve!

Due to the complicated and turbulent history that Geneve shares with France, it is safe to say that it is the most "French city" that lies beyond the actual state borders. Among many other details, this legacy is mostly noticeable in the local architecture, which we hope will be better represented after having the entire city rebuilt from scratch.

Additionally, the rework will further enhance your experience of visiting the city and its surroundings. It will be possible to drive along the beautiful Geneva lake, ride through the city center, cross the Rhône river with a view of the lake and a famous fountain, and then continue via A40 further East in the direction of France.

The economy was recreated as well in order to better reflect the real world and to have the city offer more variety. Due to this, the overall layout had to be expanded, and it will include an industrial zone, agricultural area, railway terminal, chocolate factory, and shopping mall. We truly hope many of those who are familiar with the city will instantly recognize these new additions.

While we are currently unable to say when exactly will this project be finished and available to players, make sure to let us know if you like what you have seen so far. Also, for any updates and potential announcements follow our social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) and you will never miss anything important!

Christmas Reflections and Cruising Texas Events Conclusion

Since November, truck simulation fans around the world have been celebrating the release of the Texas DLC for American Truck Simulator by taking part in our #CruisingTexas World of Trucks event. During this special event, truckers could earn Texas themed in-game rewards by completing personal and community goals whilst delivering to and from multiple cities across the Lone Star State.

It didn't take our #BestCommunityEver long to smash through the set community goal of 125,000,000 miles (201,168,000 km); in just over 2 weeks, the goal was met! We are always blown away by the work and effort put in by our players to complete these events. We really ought to up the ante in the future. To all those who took part and even contributed past the set goal, we really do appreciate you.

As always, we've put together a small infographic which shows some of the statistics from this event. That's a lot of driving (and we don't even want to imagine the money spent on fuel!), awesome work! We hope you enjoyed #CruisingTexas over the past few months.

But that wasn't the only event running. In December, we also hosted our annual Christmas World of Trucks event. This year's theme focused on Love, Peace, Hope, Care and the positivity that comes from sharing them with others. Over the holiday period we asked you to deliver Gifts to and from all cities in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, challenging the community to get 400 Gifts awarded to cities across all trucking territories for each of the five tiers.

In a true holiday spirit, you completed our #ChristmasReflections event on Xmas Day (25th December), Santa would be proud! Once again, the collective strength of the #BestCommunityEver has produced incredible final numbers, so let’s take a look at how you all faired throughout the duration of this special event.

Absolutely amazing work truckers! You really did deliver this Christmas and we hope you enjoy the unique Xmas themed accessories and paint jobs which you earned during this event. We thank you all for participating, you really did help in sharing Love, Peace, Hope and Care across the world.

No matter how much or little you delivered during these events, we hope you enjoyed them and the unique cargo and rewards that came with them. We also appreciate all those who took to our social media channels to share photos, videos and content alike during them. It really does bring a lot of joy to our teams to see how much you enjoy participating in these events.

We especially loved the positive feedback which you expressed in regards to the Xmas Desktop Theme, as this was a new edition to the event. We hope to make this a more regular feature in the future when it comes to seasonal events.

As we continue on into 2023, we look forward to bringing new events to the trucking calendar. Until then, we wish you many miles of safe and happy driving!

West Balkans - Border Crossing #2

Last month, we shared a blogpost containing information and previews of Border Crossings in our upcoming West Balkans DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2. With 30 crossings in total, we couldn't fit them all in just one blogpost! Today we are happy to share with you even more screenshots of unique border control points found across this in development DLC, we hope you don't mind!

In the first blogpost, we shared that our map and asset teams have constructed these crossings as realistically as possible. These regions contain some very unique and sometimes unusual border control areas which can be sometimes difficult to obtain information or references about, due to their sensitive nature.

However, we feel it is important to be able to represent these areas, even if some of the border points are part of the Schengen area and do not require stopping.

As you can see, the size of these control points varies quite drastically! From the large crossing between Horgos & Röszke to the small one located in the valley between Vardiste & Kotroman; but each has its own important purpose.

We are looking forward to you visiting all these wonderful and unique countries that can be found in the West Balkans DLC. Until then, keep an eye on our socials for all the latest news, and be sure to add the DLC to your Steam Wishlist if you haven't done so already.

Germany Rework - Frankfurt am Main

Hallo, Freunde! It’s time to look at another city that will receive a brand-new look in the upcoming rework of the German cities that we are currently working on. Today, we’ll show and tell you a bit about what changes you can expect to see in the amazing city of Frankfurt am Main.

Perhaps you have already noticed the frequent pattern but reworks of individual cities are no easy feat, as once again we had to build the entire area from scratch with only a few exceptions. You will still find a familiar garage and Iveco truck dealer in the city and the city circle has mostly remained the same with an exception of a new junction in the northern part, where it connects to the Autobahn 5, so you can get extra access point to the city (the passages to enter from south and east will still be available).

Frankfurt has been through some turbulent and dynamic history but through it all, it has managed to withstand the test of time. There are currently over 750,000 inhabitants living in the metro area and the local economy is continuously growing. This is why we have expanded the city itself while also adding more depots and a part of the nearby industrial park!

The city has one of the largest airports in Europe and we had to reflect on this fact in our work as well. The local airport in the game will be expanded and you will be able to drive through some of the nearby parts, while also feasting your eyes on multiple landmark buildings, including a newly-built long-distance train station and a congress center. Additionally, there will be a new custom airport cargo depot as well!

We hope you are truly excited to set out on the roads and take a drive to the reworked Frankfurt am Main. While we still cannot provide any precise date for when this project will arrive in Euro Truck Simulator 2, we suggest following our social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) and keeping an eye out for any possible updates.
