Euro Truck Simulator 2: 1.55 Update Open Beta

[p]After the release of Async Loading Experimental Beta in May, we are happy to announce the arrival of the 1.55 Open Beta for Euro Truck Simulator 2, which includes various improvements and new content.[/p][p][/p][p]It will take a few weeks before the full 1.55 release, so please keep in mind that this is the first open beta iteration and it is still a work-in-progress build that will receive updates throughout the open beta period.[/p][p]If you want to take it for a spin, you can help contribute by reporting any bugs you may encounter in the appropriate section of our official forums. Your feedback and reports are extremely valuable for our team, and we thank you in advance for taking the time to help us out. So, what can you expect to find in the 1.55 Open Beta for ETS2? Let's take a closer look!
[/p][p]Driving Academy - Truck Driving Proficiency[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]This new Driving Academy module, called Truck Driving Proficiency, will introduce a set of much more challenging scenarios, which will test even the most skilled drivers to the limit. For this new module and set of scenarios, we will also introduce a new reward system. The most important thing is still to precisely complete a scenario by driving along the designated path and avoiding any collisions. For proficiency level, there may be additional conditions you will have to meet to successfully pass the scenario.[/p][p][/p][p]Players will be able to achieve up to 3 collectable stars in this module, which can be earned by meeting additional conditions such as only using the interior camera, limiting gear shifts between drive and reverse, or completing the scenario in the set time. You'll earn a reward for completing all the scenarios, and you can unlock additional rewards by collecting all 3 stars in each one.[/p][p][/p][p]To really test your skills, you won't find any pre-recorded video tutorials, and you will have to use all the knowledge we taught you in our first module of Driving Academy.[/p][p]Asynchronous Loading[/p][p]We have been hard at work implementing a major overhaul in the way our game loads and processes data, a new system we call Asynchronous Loading. This system is designed to improve the loading process by ensuring that the game and loading screens remain uninterrupted while assets are loaded in the background. The primary benefit here is the mitigation of stuttering, resulting in a smoother experience overall.[/p][p]We'd like to thank everyone who contributed their feedback to the Experimental Beta in Euro Truck Simulator 2, which was centred around this new update. Your feedback was incredibly valuable to our team, and now we are happy to be able to continue to bring this new feature forward into the Open Beta. You can help us fine-tune this feature by reporting any unusual loading behaviour in the dedicated 1.55 forum section.[/p][p]FH Tuning Pack Update[/p][p]This DLC will now be fully compatible with the Volvo FH Series 6 as well, so you'll be able to customize every Volvo FH truck with a wide range of tuning parts. But that's not all, as we are also improving several current components, introducing new customization options, along with paintable parts.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]You will be able to pick the front badge plate, rear fender top, front mask, and front grille bottom in chrome, while the decal, windshield frame, front badge plate, rear fender, rear fender top, and more are now paintable![/p][p]Custom City Intros for the Vive la France ! DLC[/p][p]We have reworked all of the in-game intros for every city in France with an ownable garage, both in the base game and the Vive la France ! DLC. A total of 21 cities have received new or updated Custom City Intros.[/p][p][/p][p]Mail UX Redesign[/p][p]The mail screen has been redesigned to enhance UI, UX, and controller navigation. It features two main sections: a mail list on the left and the mail content on the right, which is now larger for improved readability and easier to scroll through. Mails populate from the top, and when the list exceeds the screen, pagination is used. Users can navigate through emails using the arrow keys or the controller's D-pad, with emails opening instantly on selection. Mail content may include clickable or keybind-accessible embedded links.[/p][p][/p][p]Options QoL Improvements[/p][p]In this update, we've added a small but useful quality-of-life improvement to the graphics settings menu. You'll now see example screenshots next to various settings, giving you a better idea of how each option affects the game's visuals.[/p][p][/p][p]Whether you're tweaking things for smoother performance or aiming for the best possible look, these previews should make it easier to find the right balance for your setup.[/p][p]Map Improvements - "My Location" Hotkey[/p][p]We are adding a "My Location" hotkey as part of our map improvements. When pressed, it instantly centers the game map on the player's current location. We hope you find this small addition useful on the road![/p][p][/p][p]Change of Steam Achievements[/p][p]Our team is working around the clock on engine updates, many of which are not visible during regular gameplay. Some of these are visible instantly, such as new light systems, but we also need to work on changes that are not normally visible when you play.[/p][p]Updating the achievement system gives us foundations that will allow us to make different and new types of achievements, as well as manage existing ones that often rely on different DLCs and regions. As a part of that, we have a new system coming out in 1.55, which we would like to test in open beta. [/p][p]To ensure that the new code is well tested before release, some small changes were made to existing achievements and their goals to let us see if the changes we make are working smoothly for all of our users.[/p][p]Changelog[/p][p]Gameplay[/p]
  • [p]Driving Academy - Truck Driving Proficiency[/p]
  • [p]Map improvements - "My Location" hotkey[/p]

It's completely okay if you want to wait for the final release. But if you're interested in helping us to get there faster, we'd appreciate all of your feedback on our forum and your bug reports in the dedicated section.[/p][p]Please check our modding wiki to get details pertaining to mods for the game. If you wish to participate in this Open Beta, you can find this version in the Experimental Beta branch on Steam. SCS On The Road: Renault Trucks Engine Plant

[p]We’re back with a new episode of our SCS On The Road series, and this time we’re taking you behind the scenes at the Renault Trucks Engine Plant in Lyon, France!
[/p][p][/p][p]During our visit to SOLUTRANS last year (a major transport and logistics expo), our friends at Renault Trucks kindly invited us on a special tour of their Engine Plant, which we’re excited to share with you today! Join Nemiro, our PR & Marketing Manager, and Patrice Berger-Perrin from Renault Trucks' Corporate Communications team as we begin with a visit to their historic museum, located in one of the company’s oldest buildings, designed and constructed in 1916. The museum showcases the rich timeline of Renault, highlighting the vehicles and innovations that have shaped the brand for over a century.

Following the museum visit, the tour continues into the heart of the production line, where we explore how Renault Truck engines (and others) are built, from the initial stages of assembly to the final quality checks. Along the way, Patrice shares valuable insights into the workforce, the assembly process, the structure of the production lines, and the technology used to create each and every engine.
[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]A big thank you to the Renault Trucks team for the warm welcome and for giving us the opportunity to share this fascinating look into their operations and history with our #BestCommunityEver. If you enjoyed this episode, be sure to subscribe, hit the like button, and leave a comment, we'd love to hear from you. We look forward to seeing you for the next one, until then, keep on truckin’![/p]

Euro Truck Simulator 2 dev confirms coaches as an entirely new way to play

Back in May, SCS Software shared a 22-second video of a coach pulling out from behind a big rig in Euro Truck Simulator 2, and it sent the community into a frenzy. That's because players have been asking for coaches in ETS2 for years, even going as far as to mod them in themselves instead of waiting. Now, SCS has finally confirmed that coaches are in development, and they're definitely a game changer.

Project Coaches

[p]When we released our teaser titled “Next Stop: ETS2,” the community instantly understood what it signalled, and today we’re excited to confirm it. Project Coaches is now officially in development, marking the start of a brand-new driving experience within Euro Truck Simulator 2.

This new addition will offer players a whole new way to explore and work in the ETS2 world. Instead of hauling cargo, you’ll be stepping into the role of a coach driver. While we’re still early in the development process, many elements are still evolving behind the scenes.
[/p][p] [/p]
[p][/p]
[p][/p]
[p]We've already begun laying the foundation, from creating several coach models with characteristic handling to developing a network of bus terminals across the map (which many of you have noticed for a long time now). We're even reworking some older coach station prefabs from the ground up to better fit this new gameplay.
[/p][p][/p][p]If you're interested in learning more about how this idea came to life and where it's headed, we highly recommend watching our latest vidcast, featuring Pavel, Nemiro, Dominik, and Jarda as they discuss the project in more detail.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]
And don’t worry, our work on trucks, map expansions, and the core ETS2 content isn’t going anywhere. A dedicated team is handling Project Coaches, allowing our ongoing development plans for the game to continue at full speed.
[/p][p][/p]
[p][/p]
[p][/p]
[p]
We’re really looking forward to showing you more as this project takes shape. It’s something we’ve wanted to explore for quite some time, and we hope it opens the door to new kinds of experiences within the ETS2 universe. [/p][p][/p]

Introducing Iceland

[p]We know you might have been wondering where our next steps will lead to in Euro Truck Simulator 2, and now we are ready to reveal our plans! We are very excited to announce an upcoming map expansion, as our teams have already started to work on...[/p][h3]Iceland for Euro Truck Simulator 2[/h3][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Explore the Land of Fire and Ice! Iceland stands apart as one of the most extraordinary countries on Earth, an incredibly unique landscape with completely unmatched rugged nature. Despite covering just 103,000 km², this island nation offers an astonishing variety of natural wonders: towering volcanoes, vast glaciers, black sand beaches, thundering waterfalls, dramatic craters, and more, making it a dream location for visitors around the world. Now, you have the chance to experience it all from behind the wheel of your truck.[/p][p]Due to Iceland's unique geography, don't expect a dense web of highways or a bustling cluster of cities. Instead, prepare for an unforgettable journey through one of the most breathtaking landscapes on Earth.[/p][p][/p][p]This map expansion offers a scenic loop around Iceland, connecting a handful of charming cities and remote settlements, all nestled within a world shaped by fire and ice. Majestic mountains, endless plains, dramatic cliffs, volcanic fields, roaring rivers, and cascading waterfalls are all stunningly recreated by our map designers.[/p][p][/p][p]With its sweeping vistas and untouched natural beauty, this is a DLC like no other. Every kilometer captures the grandeur and authenticity of Iceland's raw, untamed environment. If you've ever wanted to feel the magnificence of nature from behind the wheel, this is your chance.[/p][p][/p][p]You can look forward to hauling cargo across the Hringvegur (“Ring Road”), which stretches for about 1,400 kilometres, forming a circle around the island. Besides other cities and settlements, one of this map expansion's highlights is the capital of Reykjavík, a city full of life, beaming with creativity, and surrounded by incredible nature.[/p][p][/p][p]We hope we have got you excited for another trucking adventure in ETS2! Remember to support us by adding the Iceland DLC to your Steam wishlist. Just keep in mind that everything you see here is still a work in progress.
