Euro Truck Simulator 2 devs tease new truck model like it's bigfoot

We're living in a truck simming world, and there's no slowing down SCS Software's convoy of updates. Official multiplayer is on the way, new DLC is cooking, and now the devs are teasing a new Euro Truck Simulator 2 vehicle like it's bigfoot. Er, that is, like it's bigfoot the sasquatch, not Bigfoot the monster truck. (Though that would be cool, right?)

Alongside a handful of obscure photos of the new truck, the devs say: "As photographed, the vehicle was covered in a special camouflage wrap typically used by manufacturers to obscure a vehicle's shapes, lines and unique elements, to make it hard to discern exactly [what] a new vehicle model will look like before its official reveal."

It's all a bit overly mysterious, but it looks very much like this is an as-yet-unannounced new vehicle from Dutch manufacturer DAF Trucks. This wouldn't be the first time SCS has gotten to unveil a new truck model in partnership with an auto company - the devs did the exact same thing last year with Western Star.

New Truck Spotted in ETS2

Our office received some interesting material this morning. Coming from a professional truck spotter, who wanted to remain anonymous, we received some very exciting photos of a never-before-seen truck.

As photographed, the vehicle was covered in a special camouflage wrap typically used by manufacturers to obscure a vehicle's shapes, lines and unique elements, to make it hard to discern exactly how a new vehicle model will look like before its official reveal.

For now, further details are still unknown to us, but one thing is clear, there will be a new truck for any trucker or fan of Euro Truck Simulator 2 to look forward to.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is getting official multiplayer, and it's already in beta for ATS

Players of both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator have had access to multiplayer through community mods for ages, but official multiplayer support has still been a long-requested feature. Developer SCS Software is now working on that very thing, and you can already play with the multiplayer features in an experimental beta for ATS.

The new Convoy mode, as the official multiplayer option is called, has both benefits and limitations compared to TruckersMP, the community option. Convoy is a much smaller take on multiplayer, with private sessions built for eight players. The big benefit it has over TruckersMP right now is synchronised AI traffic, time, and weather, so you won't be driving empty roads when you're in a session with friends.

Instructions for joining the American Truck Simulator Convoy beta are available on the official forums, but the devs offer the caveat that this is very much an experimental beta. You're likely to run into a number of bugs, there's currently no mod support, and some things - like minor weather patterns - aren't yet fully synched. The devs also recommend backing up your saves before trying the beta, just in case.

SCS Software are testing multiplayer for American and Euro Truck Sim 2

Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator developers SCS Software are still at work on their official multiplayer support for both truck sims. The Convoy game mode will let up to eight players hop in a private session together to complete jobs on the open road with synced traffic and weather. It's still in an experimental state, SCS warn, but they've made the first version available on a beta branch for those who are determined to go on a test drive.
