We're still alive

Greetings paranormal investigators!

We want to briefly tell you what happened after October 2023 and what we plan to do next. Most likely you have a question: is the game still alive and do we plan to release it? Definitely yes. We really want and try to create at least a good game that will meet your expectations.

After the demo, our eyes were opened, because during development, your vision is literally blurred, you yourself don’t understand what people will like and what they won’t. Given limited time and budget, many functions suffer, from optimization and bugs to uninteresting gameplay.

We heard you and simply, instead of a lot of empty words and promises, we decided to completely remake the game.

[h3]What we have completely reworked and added:[/h3]
- Absolutely all maps have been redone, many small objects have been added
- Random map generation. The generation itself now works differently, each room has 3 large options, and each option has an additional 3 small sub-options. This means that players will now be able to play on the same map and have a completely different experience every time.
- Modifications and perks. Boring modifications and perks have been completely redesigned, and many others have been added as well.
- Gameplay. We have completely redesigned the gameplay, now it is more consistent with what was stated. The focus is on capturing the ghost rather than defining the type of ghost.
- Ghost. Each ghost has its own characteristics, but the ghost itself has been redesigned. It has many unique events, animations and sounds.
- We also redid the sounds, the physics of small objects, the objects themselves (EMF, Video Cameras, Geiger, etc.), UI design, player animations.

[h3]What are we planning to do next?[/h3]
Now we are already at the final stage of development, internal testing has already begun. At the end of March we will release an updated demo with 1 map so that you can see for yourself that this is now a completely different game, at the same time we will launch closed beta testing with members of our discord server, where they will be able to test the game mechanics, all maps and multiplayer stability. Very soon we will update the Steam page and show you new screenshots and a trailer.

We'll be releasing a single-player game 50 Floors: The Paranormal Investigators Prologue in early March. This game tells the story of what happened a couple of hours before the start of Paranormal Investigators.

Update 2

Changes:

  • Now the player doesn’t teleport back a bit every time he changes items
  • The player can no longer go beyond the boundary of the map
  • The player now appears in a truck at the start of the game
  • Fixed a bug with flickering items in the truck
  • The screen in the truck now updates as the game progresses and display current information
  • Improved the colliders of some objects so that items no longer fall through them


In this update we have reworked the character controls. This is how it looks like now:

  • Secondary use: Left Button (Mouse)
  • Primary use: Right Button (Mouse)
  • Left hand: Tab (Keyboard)
  • Put item: F (Keyboard)
  • To place an item, you must press and release the button
  • Flashlight: T (Keyboard)
  • By pressing the button you will turn on/off the flashlight in the inventory(if there is one)
  • Select previous item: Q (Keyboard)
  • Pressing the button will select the previous item
  • Can only be reassigned during a game


We've also added two new options in the settings:
You no longer need to press a button to run. Just press once to start running and once more to finish it (can only be changed during a game)
Same setting for crouch (can only be changed during a game)

Another changes:
Now you can assign the left and right mouse buttons
Fixed a bug with flickering items in the lobby
The screen in the lobby now display current information
The ghost will properly bypass certain items

FAQ about Demo

1. When and where will the demo be released?
The release will take place on October 9th on Steam.

2. Will there be multiplayer in the demo?
Unfortunately, no, because unexpected difficulties arose with networking and bugs. We could have spent more time improving the multiplayer, but we decided to focus all our attention on a large amount of content.

3. Why was the demo made?
For us, first of all, this is an open beta test to collect feedback from players and fix all the bugs. Thanks to the demo, we will be able to improve the game for release.

4. How much content will be in the demo?
The demo will have 1 map available (5 rooms + basement + garage), limited random generation, 4 classes, 4 characters, 20 modifiers, 7 perks.

5. How many languages will there be in the demo?
10 languages will be available: English (full), German, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, Polish, Ukrainian, Turkish and Russian.

6. Will the demo always be available?
At the moment yes. The demo will be available during release.

7. When will the demo be completely ready?
We split the demo into three stages. Now in stage 2 we are fixing all the bugs and adding new content (models, animations and items). Stage 2 will last approximately two weeks after launch. During Stage 3 we will be working on improving localization, sounds, interface and optimization.

Update 1

Changes:
  • Fixed the bug that you can not pick up previously dropped items
  • Fixed event in the basement that could break the game
  • The toy rabbit no longer flies over the bed in the children’s room
  • Report is now limeted to 100%
  • The reporting assignement is crossed out when you score over 90%
  • Fingerprints no longer appear at the start of the game on light switches if the ghost has such evidence
  • Glow stick lasts longer (15 sec. -> 30 sec.)
  • Glow stick now has a different texture when it can’t be used
  • Flashlight shining in right direction
  • Fixed random ghost writing book selection error
  • Fixed the bug that only two modifiers appear sometimes
  • Operator class bonuses now work correctly
  • Modifiers only appear in PARANORMAL+ mode
  • Fixed incorrect kitchen generation
  • Parabolic Microphone now works as intended
  • The gallery now has a brief description of the event captured in the photo
  • When rotating items near the ghost in the kitchen, only small items are now selected
  • The hand no longer casts a shadow in the game
  • UV flashlight is no longer going underground
  • During a ghost attack, the door to the house is correctly blocked
  • Player interaction range reduced
  • New modifier (It's harder to make a good report)
  • Multiple translation improvments

DEMO STAGE 1 IS OUT

We apologize that the demo was not released yesterday due to a technical error that was found in the final test. We have fixed it, but there will be other bugs in the demo, because this is our very first version of the game. The demo will have technical errors, graphic errors, problems with sound and optimization, and that is why we are releasing it 3 months before the release, in order to collect your feedback.

- 1 house with 7 rooms (this is the smallest map in the game)
- 20 modifiers
- 21 ghosts
- 4 classes

- 3 weather conditions

This is only DEMO STAGE 1. There will be three stages in total. In stage 2 we will fix bugs that were collected during the first stage. In Stage 3 we will optimize the game, improve the interface and fix localization errors. This will last about a month. After three stages, we will continue to support the demo by adding additional events and modifiers to it, roughly speaking, the demo will become a test platform to check how everything works.

[h3]Gameplay:[/h3]
- Your task is to make a video report.
- Before starting the game, please read the wiki.
- Identifying the ghost is not your first priority.
- You should capture as much of the ghost's interaction as possible.
- You should use not only a video camera and a photo camera, but also a wall camera and a GoPro.
- An item can be placed on the floor by holding the R button and then pressing the G button.
- All evidence and all progress is stored on a computer in the truck
- You can check your mental health through the watch using the Q button.
- For modifiers to be available, you must select PARANORMAL+ mode
- The perk system works as follows. The player has three slots, blue perks take up one slot, purple perks take up two, and red perks take up three.
