Big Update Incoming

[p]Hello everyone. It's been a while.[/p][p][/p][p]As you may already know, I have been unable to work on GunSuit Guardians for a long time due to family and work commitments. I regret the lack of updates since launching into Early Access and I really appreciate the kind words of encouragement that I've received from many of you in my absence. While I have no intention of abandoning the project altogether, it has been very difficult to find the time and energy to work on it at the end of a long day. That's an unfortunate reality of solo indie development as a parent that I had to learn the hard way.[/p][p][/p][p]But, with that said, I have had time between freelance projects lately. I've made huge strides towards a new update... the biggest one yet, in fact.[/p][p]It will be ready for release very soon. 👀[/p][p][/p][h3]What's in the new update?[/h3]
  • [p]'LockZone' mode: a new game mode with a faster pace. Combat is confined to a small arena. Upgrade selections only occur once you have completed each wave.[/p]
  • [p]Boss overhaul: 2 new bosses and significant changes to the way bosses work in general, making them more exciting to fight, helping to avoid stalemates for mid-level players and rewarding powerful players.[/p]
  • [p]Hero Rank system: a new long-term reward system for players who have unlocked everything and want bragging rights on the leaderboards.[/p]
  • [p]New Weapons, Suit Buffs, Artifacts and Achievements.[/p]
  • [p]Many, many more bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, balance changes and other tweaks.[/p]

Bullet Heaven 2.0 Festival & Update News

Hey folks,

Just a quick update to mark the start of Bullet Heaven 2.0 Festival. GunSuit Guardians is on sale for the duration of this event.



My sincere apologies for the lack of updates lately, I've been focused on freelance work since last year to keep the bills paid. That work I signed up for is finished now and, while I still need to pursue more freelance jobs soon, I do have an update for GunSuit Guardians in the works. It will be the first to include a new game mode. Watch this space.

Just wanted to let you all know that the game has not been abandoned, but my priorities have sadly had to shift. Such is the way of indie development.

Update 0.42.0

  • Small "Boost Ready" text is displayed when Boost finishes recharging.

  • Improved performance of damage numbers.
  • Added small border to Special Ability, Boost and Ammo HUD elements.
  • Adjusted appearance of Boost gauge.
  • Increased clear HUD space around player.

  • Fixed Penetrator powerup not having any effect.
  • Fixed cases where getting multiple Level Ups or Perks in quick succession would cause some of them to be skipped.
  • Fixed fire damage causing too many sounds to play when triggered by Incendiary Bombs.
  • Reduced chances of choppy audio when using Conflagration special ability.

Update 0.41

Hey folks, I'm back.

First of all, sincere apologies for the long delay between updates. There were a few reasons for this long downtime. Firstly, I was committed to some freelance work earlier in the summer. I also personally experienced a bit of burnout having worked so hard and so long to get Early Access released and the several updates that followed that.

And finally, this update is a pretty hefty one! Version 0.41.0 introduces 2 new GunSuits, 2 new Special Abilities, and 4 new Weapons, all of which have a new Achievement required to unlock them.



There's also a change to the way lightning storms work: aliens inside them will regenerate health, but are guaranteed to drop an EXP gem. If you make some smart tactical decisions you can really ramp up the number of gems you accumulate.

Finally, another new addition is the ability to view a breakdown of each of your weapons' stats such as kills and DPS at the end of a run. Useful for gauging which weapons work well for you.

  • Quitting a run now presents a confirmation message.
  • Swapped order of Weapon and Special Ability when selecting your starting loadout.
  • Various performance improvements.
  • Minor presentation change: GunSuits now define 'reload speed' instead of 'reload duration'. This means positive values are better instead of the negative.
