Website and Communication Changes

Heroes & Generals is available on quite a few platforms by now and we are stretched thin to give all the love that those communities deserve simultaneously on all channels. That is why we have decided to make it easier to engage with you, the community.

Here is the list of changes and improvements we are planning to bring in the coming months.

[h3]Optimizing our Website[/h3]
We have decided to make changes to our main website with optimization in mind. Certain categories have many subcategories and it’s not always easy to figure out what is where.

To mitigate this we will reduce the amount of categories. The category Leaderboards will become a subsection in the Game category. Forum and Support will be combined into the new category Community. A new category media will be added for clarity and ease of access.

The category Game will be cleaned up. Tips & tricks as well as Videos will be removed. The Content Creator Program, Wallpaper and Press will be moved to the Media category.

The Heroesandgenerals.com forums have been with us from the very beginning. In the early days they were our main communication method. However, as the years have gone by, the gaming community has been moving away from forums and onto new platforms. New platforms such as Discord are focused on real time interaction and are the perfect host for our community.

We made the decision to start phasing out the forums by making them “Read Only” from the 12th of July, 2021. From that date onwards, posting on the forums will not be possible anymore.

The private message function will remain available and all posts can still be read. It is our intention, however, to remove access to the forums sometime in 2022 and we want to make sure you have a heads up on this decision.

[h3]Your New Home[/h3]
At the start of 2019 we added a new platform to our line-up: Discord. An essential communication and distribution platform for virtually every game community out there and beyond. Discord has in the last year also become our most used communication channel. It’s very easy to use and very accessible to everyone.

Discord will now be the main way for you to interact with the community and us! We welcome everyone from the community who has not joined our server yet!

We are planning to continue growing and improving our Discord server, we will also open a dedicated bug-reports channel. We will be looking forward to your feedback in order to continue to improve and grow our community!

[h3]Fanbook[/h3]

A brand new platform located and focused on China, is currently in a beta testing phase. This is a unique opportunity for us to become one of its early adopters. Fanbook shares a lot of similarities with Discord, however it is a separate channel all together.

Fanbook is mostly managed by our moderators, but RETO MOTO is also present on this platform and will engage directly with the community there too.

[h3]Our Presence on Steam[/h3]
We know that a large portion of the Heroes & Generals community uses the Steam forums and we will increase the amount of moderators on that platform to better serve our community.

Furthermore we wish to incorporate the Steam group chat feature by adding more channels and make sure it is moderated adequately.

[h3]Timeline[/h3]
June 8th 2021
- Announcement of upcoming changes to the website and community channels.
July 12th 2021
- Forums on HeroesandGenerals.com will be set to ‘Read Only’. Users can still send private messages but view all posts.
Early 2022 (Specific date is to be determined)
- Forums on HeroesandGenerals.com will no longer be available to the public and ultimately archived.
