Heyo,

This is the last batch of stuff we wanted to sneak into the demo before properly moving onto finishing the full game! See you all in a few months.

Here is to hoping you keep up your appetite for Clown Meat!

New additions!:
  • Clown Meat now has unique idle animations in some cutscenes.
  • Some levels now have paint cans that you can knock over to spill permanent paint.
  • Added "source" button on the character select screen that links to original game crossover characters hail from.
  • The Newscaster has been given a unique surprise!
  • Added a small indicator at the top left of the screen to indicate build version.

Gameplay changes:
  • Developer medals can now be retroactively earned if you beat their times before unlocking them.
  • Timer now updates with the physics for consistency.
  • Reduced the range at which the player needs to move to start the timer by 90%.
  • Moving obstacles (i.e. pushing spikes and moving platforms) now do not start moving until the player starts the timer.
  • End of level UI no longer forces player to watch the rising of a new best time once developer medals are unlocked.
  • Timer mode now kills player if they achieve the same time as their best.

Level changes:
  • 1_2 (I'd love to change the world)
    • Increased bottom pushing spike speed.
  • 2_2 (Fistful of Steel)
    • Dev time increased from 5.678 -> 6. (We have mercy)

UI changes:
  • Removed redundant restart option from the end level UI (You can still restart the level with the dedicated button).
  • Added the restart button instruction to the end of level UI.

Bug fixes:
  • Fixed Mime Meat's idle looping improperly.
  • Fixed Developer medals not displaying "knocked off" sprite.
  • Fixed splash screen replaying after reentering the main menu.
  • Fixed currently selected player skin transferring to new saves.
  • Fixed Hannah's credit from going off screen.
  • Fixed pushing spikes not operating synced with the physics.
  • Fixed player being able to fully cover themselves with their splat visuals behind the hand on Fistful of Steel.
  • Fixed player being unable to get goop on Everything Beautiful Is Far Away.
  • Fixed several assets that did not comply with Clown Meat's colour palette.
  • Fixed numerous typos.
Clown Meat Demo
Last week we launched the first public demo for Clown Meat on Steam!

We're ecstatic over how positive the reception has been, with fanart already pouring in, and an early speedrunning community already forming around the game. We've loved seeing these speedrun route maps users have been drawing for each level!

In playtests, we anticipated that the demo would take users (on average) ~1.5 hours.
The world record demo speedrun is already 6m 25s....
We can't wait to see how hard you all start to push things once the full game is available!

Roughly 1/3rd of our Wishlists have come in just the last week! That helps us out immensely, AND Steam will email you upon the game's release. So don't forget to add Clown Meat to you own Wishlist!
What Next?
Clown Meat is on track for a 2024 release!
We plan to take part in Steam's June Next Fest, and will be looking at release dates on the other side of that event.

While we'll be keeping a lot of things secret right up until release, expect to see more teases and behind the scenes glimpses in the coming months. Literally just today we got the final confirmation on the last of our non-ItsTheTalia crossover characters!

In precision platformer Clown Meat, you have to cheer up a Godzilla-sized clown from Jupiter

I've done some elementary study of the planet Jupiter for various creative research projects/dead-ends. It's probably a symptom of my failings as an astronomer, but I have to say that at no point have I noticed any gigantic, depressed clowns. In new platformer Clown Meat, one such gigantic, depressed clown has swum through Jupiter's atmosphere, drifted to Earth and kicked off some kind of meatpunk apocalypse, saturating the surrounding countryside with circus-themed abominations.
