Tarnished Blood News

State of the Game - Mid April

We're thrilled to share the latest developments that have unfolded in the realm of Tarnished Blood this April 2024. With the cosmos stirring and ancient sands shifting, new challenges await. Here's what's new:

New Adversaries Emerge

Galvera and her terrifying arsenal

  • Spider Ambush: Throughout the battle, spiders sporadically emerge around the arena, attacking players within their range. Stay vigilant and keep moving to avoid becoming overwhelmed.
  • Femoral Blast: Galvera summons a cocoon that explosively releases a swarm of spiders, adding chaos to the battlefield. This tactic not only disrupts player positions but also increases the encounter's intensity.
  • Slowing Spit: This debilitating attack involves Galvera spitting a viscous substance that significantly slows any player it hits, making it harder to dodge further attacks and manage the swarming spiders.
  • Capturing Blood: From Galvera's chest, vine-like tendrils reach out, capable of ensnaring and cocooning players. Those caught must break free quickly or suffer severe damage as the tendrils constrict.

Game Enhancements

Wounds, Traits, and Traumas Rework: We've overhauled traits, traumas, and wounds for better balance, aesthetics, and improved mechanics.

Upcoming Tribes: Three new Tribes are in the works, each boasting unique achievements, equipment, and passive skills that will alter the course of your adventures.

Equipment for New Tribes: Prepare for battle with new equipment for each tribe, featuring unique abilities that evolve with your experience.

Stay tuned for surprises that will enrich your journey through Tarnished Blood.

Thank you for your continuous support and bravery as you face these new challenges. We're excited to see how these updates will transform your adventures in Tarnished Blood. As always, we welcome your feedback and stories from the battlefield.

PAX East 2024 and new update (a BIG one)!

Are you in Boston for PAX East 2024? Be sure to come by, try the game in new, improved build and say hi to us!

You can find Tarnished Blood at TWO booths this year:

- Galaktus Publishing at #14049
- Games From Poland at #18084

What can you get from visiting us? The chance to play the game (duh) and a chance to talk face to face with a man behind the idea of Tarnished Blood and let him watch you struggle against a new boss.

What's more is that you can get a specially designed card and a chance to grab a pin in two different designs!

Oh and if you want to keep up to date with our daily news from the PAX be sure to follow us on Twitter (click me, im a link to the profile)

Can't visit PAX?
We have prepared something also for you all.

As you know we are constantly working on improving the game that's why now you can try the new and improved version. What has changed? here's the list:

-Added Gamepad and Steam Deck support - Game should be 100% playable both on Gamepad and Steam Deck, in the upcoming weeks we will continue to work on making this control scheme more streamlined.

-Added hovers to on-screen damage “circles” during fights.

-New designs for hovers on boss parts showing with more clarity what types of damage is it vulnerable/resistant to.

-Added “Future Vision” - System enabling view of future when setting action without confirming it. This should enable easier small adjustments to actions like attacks or jumps without progressing the action blocking vine.

-Added prediction to action blocking vine - When hovering or setting action you can see how much the action blocking vine will progress if the action is confirmed.

-Added additional “Confirm/Cancel” buttons when setting actions.

-Added option to disable action blocking vine growth - Feature requested on steam forums.

-Added resolution and fullscreen options.

-Remade town progression:
--Removed Action Points in Town.
--All events are “free” but disable at least one interacting character making it unable to hunt or interact with other events until the next town phase.
--Added upgrades to all buildings using rare obsidian resources.
--Added ability to upgrade gear in upgraded crafting buildings(this feature is still in development so its UI and balancing is not finalised yet).
--Changed how level-ups and INT/MOX levels work. Level ups now give one of three traits to choose from, INT/MOX levels give their appropriate hunt bonus and one random basic statistic.

-Minimizing the game turns on the pause menu, it’s now always possible to pause game by pressing ESC anywhere in game.

Fixes:

-Fixed stronger variants of enemies having the same name as standard versions.
-Unified bullets names.
-Unified in fight damaging effects hovers.
-Fixed low resolution images of weapons, armors, potions in crafting.
-Fixed broken resolutions now with ability to change them without quitting to the menu.
-Fixed possible blockers when fast clicking stuff during tutorial.
-Fixed crash when fighting Caretaker with only one character.
-Fixed crash when death of character during battle(by getting fifth wound) would simultaneously trigger death by “Feeble Chest” trauma causing one character to die twice.
-Fixed crash during second turn in tutorial if it was triggered twice(after quitting to the menu).
-Fixed effect of “Pact of the Dead” giving buffs to characters without Life Path if the person that dies didn't have one either.
-Fixed Embark button not triggering properly if popups are disabled in the menu.
-Fixed name of button triggering movie replay of whole fight, also added this button to the summary screen after victory.
-Fixed crash that would trigger if the menu was opened during replay.
-Fixed crash that would trigger if the killing blow was dealt with by someone without a weapon.
-Fixed various translation typos and inconsistencies.
-Build size reduced by over 1 GB

Known Problems:

-There may be come inconsistencies in what few of traits/traumas/wounds effects do and what their descriptions are, fixing these inconsistencies and streamlining effect as well as reworking wounds system is our next priority
-All new upgrade related events in town have default event graphics

Tarnished Blood is Darkest Dungeon meets Monster Hunter with a fancy timeline mechanic

If you'd told me back in 1999 that a rudimentary grasp of sound editing software would stand me in surprisingly good stead as a strategy game player, I'd have asked you who the hell you are and what you're doing in my house. But in the years that followed, after you'd been sent to the slammer for crashing through my window bellowing about cheap Audible subscriptions, I might have checked out games like Ghost Trick and Phantom Brigade - each sort of an exercise in placing actions on a timeline like audio layers to produce a winning composition - and thought "hey, that hysterical burglar was onto something".

I wouldn't say there's an abundance of games in which you place actions on timelines, mind you. But those that do exist are neat, as Marge Simpson would say. Take Tarnished Blood.
