This week marks 8 years together as Rusty Lake! And, of course, we have to celebrate this incredible anniversary with a big announcement.
But first: thank you all so much for your tremendous support that allowed us to reach this amazing milestone! We could never have imagined that we could sustain as a franchise over such a long period, and we owe a huge part of that to you - our amazing community!
From the very first fanart of Cube Escape: Seasons sent to us, the support you showed by buying our first premium game: Rusty Lake Hotel, kickstarting our film-game crossover Cube Escape: Paradox, to allowing us to make something completely different like The White Door, or our first co-op experience: The Past Within - thank you for being such a huge and wonderful part of our journey over the past 8 years!
Now time for the promised announcement! In celebration of our anniversary, it is time to officially reveal our upcoming project: Underground Blossom!

Descend into the Rusty Lake Underground and travel through the life and memories of Laura Vanderboom!
Travel from station to station, each metro stop symbolising a piece of Laura's past and future. Solve various puzzles, find the correct metro to board and uncover one of Laura’s timelines, while simultaneously helping her make sense of her life and escape the corruption of her mind!

[h3]More insights into the development of Underground Blossom:[/h3]
Many of you have read our Devlogs for The Past Within, where you could keep track of the development progress of our first 2-player project. But one thing we didn’t share in those blog posts, mainly due to not wanting to spoil the surprise just yet, was that we were also in the process of creating Underground Blossom.
So whenever we had any spare time during the past year, we were simultaneously working on this project. At one point though, we had to pause our work on Underground Blossom to fully focus on The Past Within release (and its aftermath). Over the past few months, we were once again able to work full-time on Underground Blossom. And so far it has been going better than expected. Of course, we hoped for a quick release after The Past Within, but having the project on the back burner for a while made us realise we still had more improvements to make to the overall game: improving the structure, adding more levels and giving the project an overall quality boost - things we were able to achieve over the past 4 months. We are again working with the amazing Sound Design team Jorick and Giliam to bring the same audio quality as in The Past Within. Victor will be working with a cellist to accompany his amazing new piano theme and deliver an extraordinary atmosphere to the game. So the project is shaping up really nicely, but we still need more time than we originally anticipated (spring 2023)... The coming two months will be filled with testing, improving the flow, achievements, adding a lot of extra stuff, translations and much more. So we are now aiming for a late Summer release. This means we still have some months of hard work ahead of us, but then we are confident we can deliver an amazing experience.
