Patch 0.1.6098

We're back with another small set of fixes. We are investigating a handful of reported stability issues, which seem to be tied to specific hardware configurations or driver versions. If Bladesong does not run stable for you, please update your graphics drivers and let us know if the problem persists! You can report issues on Discord or via the support email address listed on our Steam page.

  • Fix: Displaying the correct Glyphs for Japanese Kanji characters.
  • Fix: The Mysterious Fire quest now correctly marks itself as concluded in all cases.
  • Fix: Various small localization fixes
  • Improvement: Camera flight now uses reasonable default start/end positions.
  • Improvement: GPU/rendering stability

Update 0.1.6079

With this update, we're happy to bring you a handful of new KATANA SWORD PARTS (seppa and habaki) as well as various improvements:

  • New: Sword parts 5x Seppa
  • New: Sword parts 3x Habaki
  • New: Sword part book ‘Swords of the East, Vol. 2’
  • Fix: Ryselle's questline now progresses as intended. Existing savegames are fixed.
  • Fix: Magisterium questline now progresses as intended. Existing savegames are fixed.
  • Fix: Customers now no longer ask for egregious amount of peens.
  • Fix: Four new commissions are no longer blocked from appearing.
  • Fix: Yvor's stock – two more books now appear as they should.
  • Fix: Music in the Den now respects volume settings.
  • Fix: Minor narrative fixes
  • Improvement: On-screen hint for [F] to mirror parts
  • Improvement: Minor localization improvements
  • Improvement: Better GPU stability and tracing for future crash debugging

Bladesong × Man At Arms: Reforged

When we started working on Bladesong's first prototypes a few years ago, we joked about it: “Man At Arms will forge one of these and make an episode about it!” “Sure David, keep dreaming.”

We are incredibly happy and thankful that this dream, once a joke among enthusiastic young indie developers, became reality. The blacksmiths at Baltimore Knife and Sword designed a sword in Bladesong (with some backseat gaming from yours truly), then used Bladesong's STL export to 3D print and cast parts of the hilt to combine with a forged blade. Patch 0.1.6040

Greetings, swordsmiths! The Bladesong team is back with a long list of fixes for various quests and other issues large and small. You can find the full changelog here. We want to say thank you for reporting these issues in on our Discord and elsewhere. This is wildly helpful – once an issue is properly found, we can often fix it rather quickly, but finding them in our small team is much harder than finding it with all of you.

  • Fix: You can no longer get stuck on the 'Helping the Neighbour' quest. Existing savegames are fixed.
  • Fix: You can no longer lock yourself out of finding Chlodo. Existing savegames are fixed.
  • Fix: Quest 'To Arm A Thief' now concludes properly in all cases. Existing savegames are fixed.
  • Fix: Quest 'The Missing Smith' now propler is marked as 'on hold' in all cases. Existing savegames are fixed.
  • Fix: Journal and map markers can no longer get stuck on the Outer Gate during the prologue.
  • Fix: Various smaller narrative fixes.
  • Fix: Allow crafting true single-edged blades in Story Mode.
  • Fix: Parts no longer randomly stretch to maximum length when switching through.
  • Fix: Eye of Nadredd now properly works with part switching, can no longer duplicate/lock yourself out of using it.
  • Fix: Screenshots and STLs are now written to %LocalAppData%/Bladesong/ in case the user's folder is not writeable.
  • Fix: Parts attached to the blade now properly contribute to physics calculations.
  • Fix: Tooltip display of requirements that involve a number (e.g. 3 risers).
  • Fix: Fixed various small mesh and texture issues across all sword parts.
  • Fix: Skill tutorials now appear only during regular commissions, rather than only during repair commissions.
  • Fix: Legacy swords now load all materials correctly.
  • Fix: Sound of salvaging pendant/gold pendant now respects volume settings.
  • Fix: Fixed German localization of commissions with random customer gender.
  • Improvement: Sharpness computation is now more reasonable and accurate. Further improvements needed.
  • Improvement: Less agressive snap-to-straight when bending long quillons.
  • Improvement: Forbid starting of commissions if a customer requests a pigment that has not yet been acquired.

Hotfix 0.1.5998

  • Fix: If you didn't encounter the unknown crow in the streets outside the Den, you can now return there and meet him, fixing a deadlock in the Ryselle quest.
  • Fix: Chickens are now clucking at a more reasonable volume 🐔
