One Week to Go!
With less than a week to go until Knights in Tight Spaces is released, the team has been hard at work fixing edge-case issues and making last-minute tweaks to the game’s balance, motivated no doubt by visions of a celebratory trip to the tavern.
Our Discord has been a lively and crucial part of this process, providing up-to-the-hour feedback on the latest builds, and alerting us to exploits alongside spotting bugs. Recent changes have made for faster fights, shorter quests, scarier skeletons, and in another win for nominative determinism, tighter spaces.
Starter decks for all the new archetypes have also been rebalanced, as we’ve gone back and forth trying to make each one distinctive, with clear strengths and weaknesses that compound over the course of a run.

One of the most exciting aspects of development, though, has been seeing the reactions to all the new systems we’ve added. Players of Fights in Tight Spaces will remember the Events that added risk/reward decisions into runs. These have been replaced by dozens of fully fledged sidequests, all with their own dialogue, combat encounters, and risks with bigger rewards.
Accepting an old crone’s plea for help could hugely strengthen your party or spell your untimely demise, depending on how prepared you are for any number of possible outcomes. Or, in some cases, how polite you choose to be when accepting or declining the quest!
On top of this, your actions during each run will echo throughout the current playthrough and beyond. Accepting and declining certain offers will cause quests to branch in different ways, and as part of the new party system, hiring and firing associates, or even going it alone, will endear you to some and make others want to do you harm. The next time you want to dismiss a sorcerer, keep in mind that those spells can be slung your way!
What’s certain is that all of these systems working together makes each playthrough alive with moment-to-moment tactical decision-making. Every choice you make both on and off the battlefield propels you down a path to glorious victory or ignominious defeat. Prepare to succeed, to try and fail, to use your wits or rely on unvarnished brawn, but above all, prepare to do it again, but better.
Knights in Tight Spaces releases on Tuesday, 4th March.
