Patch 1.0.4

Salutations one and all,

Can you believe it's been one week since we launched KITS into the big bad world?! We want to thank every single one of our players who have invested their time and energy into supporting our game and our little studio. There has been so much feedback, reviews and strategies in circulation since we hit the launch button here on Steam and we want to express our gratitude to each and every one of you.

We've released several patches and a hotfix over the past 7 days to address your most pressing concerns. Our goal now is to shift from crisis response—focusing on crashes and softlocks—toward improving quality of life and fixing those lingering, annoying bugs.

We also want to update you on a few key factors related to how and when we intend to patch.

Ideally we'll be able to push patches each week until we hit a point of stability and balance. We'll be aiming for a mid week deployment for these patches so that we can build, test, push and respond to feedback and issues, while also taking much needed downtime over the weekends. Here's some other keypoints:

  • A weekly patch allows our team to plan more effectively.
  • It creates a defined window for our players to expect an update
  • It allows meaningful time for Quality to asses the changes and flag peripheral issues
  • Gives players an opportunity to provide feedback on gameplay changes

For now this is the plan, although, in the world for software development, especially in games, this is open to change as we navigate the issues we're facing, and those yet to present themselves.

With that in mind here's the list of the QoL and Bug Fixes we have in patch 1.0.4.

  • QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS

  • massive improvements to Deck Draft when using more specialized starting archetypes
  • enemies now take account of outcome of poison/bleeding attacks when selecting targets
  • enemies no longer sometimes turn to face the wall at the end of movement

  • BUG FIXES

  • added missing proper upgrade for Mystic Push
  • fixed rare softlock in the "The Past Catches Up" sidequest
  • added missing animation/fixed Preparation
  • removed non-working "Enable Hotkeys" option from Options Screen
  • fixed occasional softlock when trapped enemies turn to face targets
  • fixed negative damage values dealing damage
  • fixed softlock on Trader Screen when the player has close to the maximum number of cards in their deck
  • corrections to some sword weapon pivot points and hold angles
  • prevented Eleven-related side quests appearing on a specific story branch
  • fixed leaderboards being capped at 10 entries
  • fixed the description values on Finessed Halberd+

That's all for now folks, but if you have any further queries or need some technical support, I recommend reaching out to the help desk directly to get a fast and thorough response. It's also more convenience to share save files and crash logs with us there. Hit the link below to create ticket.

Hotfix Update - Teleport

Hello all you weekend warriors,

Quick update, we’ve just pushed a hotfix to address the teleport bug some of you were experiencing. Thanks to the detailed player reports (and the save files you shared), we were able to track down the issue and get it fixed last night.

We’re still hard at work on bigger patches and updates, but we also want to tackle those immediate frustrations as fast as we can.

This is the single hotfix note, marvel at it's glory:

  1. Fix issue where some players were experiencing a soft lock when teleport abilities are used

Huge thanks for all the amazing support this week, we truly appreciate it and we'll be back cracking skulls and crushing bugs next week. Well, crushing bugs at least.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend and enjoy the game!

Knights in Tight Spaces is like a medieval deckbuilding XCOM, and it's out now

While there are too many deckbuilding roguelikes to count at this point, there aren't many like Knights in Tight Spaces. It distills action movie fight scenes into a fine, tactical experience, and does so with a medieval fantasy twist. A more close-quarters version of XCOM, mixed with the variety of a deckbuilder like Slay the Spire, Knights in Tight Spaces is out now. You can even grab it with a nice discount, too.

End of Week One

First of all, thank you so much for such an amazing response. The whole team at Ground Shatter and everyone at Raw Fury has been blown away by how many of you have engaged with Knights in Tight Spaces. We’ve tried to stay on top of your reviews, your discussion threads, your Discord posts and your social media - we value all of your comments (good and bad) and are digesting them all.

It’s only been 3 days but it feels like about three months, we’ve worked hard to patch some crashes that a small sub-set of the audience were experiencing, we’ve addressed some edge-case soft-locks, we’ve made a positive change to the audio mix to ensure that the hits feel a lot more solid, and we’ve made a few balance changes that didn’t quite make it in for launch. In a game as large and system-based as KITS, there’s always going to be some things that slip through the cracks, so we’re grateful for your patience on those.

I figured that it would be a good opportunity to let you know which areas of the game we’re going to look at over the next couple of weeks - largely based on the feedback that we’ve already received but also to improve the game in ways that we have identified internally.

  • We want to allow players to skip forward in the story - we’re aware that playing the Prologue over and over is slowing you up getting to the good stuff, so we’ll be adding in options to give you more variety in how you start Story Mode.

  • We’ve heard you on Deck Draft issues - we know that this is an important way to play the game for a lot of you and it could do with more love to make more varied builds possible.

  • Balance issues - we are aware that some of the objectives can be a little tricky, so they are due a pass as well; longer term we want to add more variety into the objectives as well with some new ideas that came too late for launch.

  • Quality of Life and Accessibility. We’ve had some really good suggestions about how we can improve the game for people with specific needs, and we’ll try to implement those in meaningful ways as we go forward.

You may see more small hotfixes patches in the mean time if they are needed, but some of the wider changes will come in larger updates (as we will need to ensure they are tested thoroughly before unleashing them on you). Thanks again!

Patch 1.0.3

Hello world!

It's Friday, and because it's Friday the team is going to be taking a well earned break for the weekend after the day is done. But before we down-tools, we wanted to push one more patch your way.

Today we're addressing a very troublesome XP-gains bug that some players have been pointing out in the forums. We had a workaround, but now we have a fix.

On top of that we wanted to introduce a quality of life improvement to the audio profile in KITS. We have seen your feedback in the threads, heard the things that were bothering you and made some alterations with that in mind.

Onward to the notes:

  • fixed issues that some players on controller/Steam Deck were having having where XP was not awarded at the end of a run

In response to feedback, the in-fight audio-mix has been improved:

  • slightly quieter music during fights
  • heavier/punchier/louder impact sounds
  • louder character audio overall

We're also looking into the softlocks that players are reporting. This is a troublesome area and it would greatly speed up the debug process if we could take save files from players which are having the issue immediately after the softlock occurs. We'd need the save file before you start a new run though, as a new run would overwrite the file and make it useless for review.

If you are one such player, and you had the time to help us track this, you could make a ticket and attach your save log :

Your save folder is here:
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Raw Fury\Knights in Tight Spaces

Your crash folder is here:
C:/Users/YOURUSERNAME/AppData/Local/Temp/Raw Fury/Knights in Tight Spaces/Crashes

And you can submit it to us here:
https://rawfury.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/1

We're being cautious with these smaller updates as we're trying to manage the extremely tight testing time we have between patches. We run QA in these one-day windows which is there to make sure we don't break anything when trying to apply these improvements.

I'll still be around the forums over the weekend, keeping track of the issues and feedback you are sharing with us so please keep it coming, especially the positive reviews as we try to reach more players. We're also reading through negative reviews and where possible, letting you know we've addressed your grievances.

Once again from all the team here, thank you thank you thank you!
You're encouragement and support means everything to us and to KITS.
