Demo Hotfix 0.2.46

You keep finding those pesky bugs and we keep squashing them!

Here's the list of fixes in the DEMO Hotfix 0.2.46:

• Several fixes to drones, please keep reporting them on Discord. It’s helping us track them down
o Fixed issue with drones not avoiding rocks correctly
o Fixed issue with "Behaviour Chip" Overclock not being applied to future drones gained through other overclocks
o Potential fixed issue with "Behaviour Chip" Overclock, that might have resulted in drones freezing in place, and stopping other weapons from working correctly.
o Fixed issue where Electrical drones would shoot lightning even when inactive.
• Fixed issue with the Payload Overclock for the Boltshark on stage 5 (shooting the small cocoons), which could cause other weapons to behave incorrectly.
• Fixed Bug Taser targeting the Dreadnought Cocoon while it was un-targetable

Huge thanks to all you miners out there for all the love for our Demo so far!

We've been hard at work and put together a hotfix for some of the issues you found.

This is the list of changes coming with Hotfix 0.2.44:
 • Cryo Drones should now be properly available after unlock
 • Fixed an issue that allowed infinite level-ups for those with fast little fingers
 • The Stun Sweeper should now return completely to you. It also got a little damage buff
 • Fixed some unfortunate interactions between cluster grenades and gravitational core overclocks for the Cryo Grenade
 • Fixed various typos
 • Lowered the volume on the intro splash screen 🙌

It’s demo time baby
Hello Survivors.
If you’re reading this, that means the demo for Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is now live on Steam.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2437880/Deep_Rock_Galactic_Survivor_Demo/

If you’re still reading this, you must be looking for something to do while the demo is downloading. Great! We will tell you more about the demo.

Here is what’s included:
 • One dwarf. It’s the Scout. The rest of the gang forgot to sign up for the demo.
 • One biome. Full of rocks! And also stones.
 • Three hazard levels. Babies and sweatlords alike will be able to enjoy themselves.
 • Tons of bugs. The eight-legged kind, not the we-wrote-bad-code kind. That kind of bug might be in there too, though.
 • Many guns. Great for shooting the bugs.
 • Overclocks! Debuting just in time for the demo. Makes your gun even more gun.

The demo will also be available through Steam’s Next Fest (October edition), and then for a week or two after that ends on the 16th of October. We’re not really sure yet when exactly we’ll take it down, probably when we feel like it.

If you’re unable to play the demo during the weeks it’s available (due to being in a coma or a hostage situation for example), don’t worry. Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is launching into Early Access later this year. Then, you can play it forever! If you give us money first.

Thanks to everybody who has wishlisted, playtested, said nice things, and done anything else to support Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor so far. It’s been a huge joy to see everybody’s response, and even more so to finally bring this big digital baby into the world.

We can’t wait to hear what you think of it, and we hope you have tons of fun.

What we learned from the Playtest

Hello Survivors.

The Steam Playtest of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has now concluded, and we want to thank everyone who took part! We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the popularity of, what we thought would be a relatively small scale test of a pretty early version of the game. Instead we ended up inviting over ten thousand of you to give us an answer to our most burning question: “Are we on to something?”

We’ve read every single comment, bug report and feature suggestions, and while we won't try and summarize all of it, here is a few things we have learned or confirmed:

Perhaps this version was a bit too hard
We all like a good challenge, and generally you also liked the difficulty of the game after you unlocked a few meta upgrades, but the very beginning of the game could definitely be easier to better onboard new players. In general, we think it’s premature to get too detailed about the balance of the game because we haven’t added overclocks or any classes besides Scout which will massively impact the balance. Expect many more balance passes in the future.

Power increase should be less linear and more spiky
You can definitely make an overpowered build already by stacking up certain passive bonuses until it takes off, but it doesn’t currently feel exciting enough to get there. We think a good survivor-like has intermittent power spikes where you feel temporarily overpowered and can run AT the enemies instead of away from them. We are working on something exciting to fix this, and we will go into more details in the next Steam News post.

You like where we are going with this
We knew making a DRG spin-off would come with certain expectations in terms of quality and depth, and especially so when it has the audacity to break with the DRG core pillar of co-op multiplayer. Yet the vast majority of your feedback has been super positive.

Once again, thanks for helping us test the game. We couldn’t do this without you.

Rock and stone!
