Deep Rock Galactic's first spin-off is out now in Early Access, and it's the best auto-shooter since Vampire Survivors

Playing Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor's demo last year, I already felt like I'd discovered a promising vein of gold. Playing a preview of the game's full Early Access build this week has been like digging through and finding a whole glittering cavern of riches. As a big fan of Vampire Survivors-inspired games, I think this is my favourite yet—and it's out today...

Hello Survivors,

The day has finally arrived! By the time you read this, you could already be tunneling into the dark depths of Hoxxes.

First, we want to thank everyone for showing a tremendous amount of love and support for DRG: Survivor already. The passion coming from this community motivates us to put our blood, sweat, and tears into releasing a game worthy of your fandom.
The Road Ahead
What's the plan from here? More weapons, biomes, artifacts? Well...basically, all of those and more. For the first few weeks after launch, we are going to focus on any immediate issues and do rapid-fire patches for a bit. When the game is in a somewhat stable state, we will start working on content based on our roadmap (what we want) and community feedback (what you want). With a bit of luck, those two have overlaps. You can check the roadmap on the store page, and we will have a Steam post with more thoughts on it soon.
Supporter Pack
If you want to show your support for DRG: Survivor we’ve added a Supporter Pack DLC. You get access to a golden skin for each one of the four dwarves and a nice supporter badge in the main menu. It's basically like buying us a beer, but you get some shiny golden dwarves in return. The Gold Edition Bundle includes the base game + supporter pack at a slight discount. We know it can be confusing with all these editions and DLC’s, so we made this handy diagram.

If you’ve read this far, it can only mean your download speed is atrocious or you’re stuck at work waiting to get home to play. Either way, we sincerely hope you will enjoy Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor.

ROCK AND STONE, SURVIVORS! The Funday Dwarves

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor early access review: pick of the bunch

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is a delicious piece of mad science: what if you spliced the ale-sodden DNA of Deep Rock Galactic’s dwarven miners with tissue samples from a Vampire Survivors-like autoshooter?

It shouldn’t work, surely. It would be easy to look at this spin-off and question why it takes the co-op out of one of the best co-op games on PC, or to shovel it aside as a cynical attempt at latching onto the popularity of autoshooters/Survivors-likes/bullet heavens (delete as preferred). But you’d be a smooth-handed leaf lover, my friend, as not only does DRG’s mix of horde shooting and rock smashing translate remarkably well to the format, even this early access version is heaps of subterranean fun.
