SkyFest 2024 Updates: Tickets & More

Time has flown since our announcement in April, and now SkyFest will be happening in Tokyo in less than two months! Everyone at TGC is working at full steam to prepare for Sky’s birthday—after all, a 5-year celebration has to be extraordinary both in Sky and in-person. To find out more, read on for the latest news about SkyFest and how to get your tickets.
What is SkyFest?
SkyFest is our first ever simultaneous in-person and in-game Sky Assembly event! SkyFest combines the experience of an in-game Sky event with the in-person Sky gatherings held across the world, creating an incredible celebration we’d love to share with everyone for the game’s 5th anniversary.

If you haven’t heard about SkyFest yet, check out this blog post first: bit.ly/SkyFest2024

As you can see, there’s going to be a lot—it’s more than just an in-game event, and it goes beyond merely an in-person gathering. So today we’re taking a closer look at what awaits you at SkyFest 2024 in Tokyo!

DATE: July 13-14 (all times Japan Standard Time)
  • 2 Sessions per day:
  • Session 1: 9:00-13:00
  • Session 2: 14:00-18:00

LOCATION: Shinjuku Sumitomo Sankaku Hiroba (2-6-1 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan)
Main Stage Programs Confirmed!
TGC teams will take the stage to share a whole variety of talks about Sky’s development, and Jenova Chen, the creative director of Sky himself, will give a keynote speech to players on Sky’s future. There will be all kinds of tidbits about the animation project and new friends who may show up in Sky. And not to mention, voice actor and Sky Special Supporter Yuki Kaji will be at the venue to celebrate Sky's birthday too!

Each session will have something different, so be sure to get a ticket if there’s one you want to attend. After the event we’ll be sharing recordings of the keynote and other talks. But we did want to mention this—The “Let's Explore the History of Sky Together!” talk will be linked to activities in Sky. We’ll share more details about the parts of SkyFest that take place in the game, so stay tuned!
Venue Attractions and More
SkyFest will also feature exhibits related to Sky's art and history. Take them in as you wander from one exhibit area to another—even through a recreation of Aviary Village.
  • Aviary Village: Enjoy this iconic space as if you were a Sky kid.
  • Main Stage: The main stage is located at the far end of the venue, but the large screen should mean that you’ll be able to see it no matter where you are.
  • History of Sky: An assortment of images and scenes will show the history of Sky’s creation.
  • Art of Sky: Like walking through the pages of the art book, explore the art that shaped Sky during its development.
  • Harmony Hall Crafting Corner: Anyone can make their own Nest! Join April-Sensei from the Crafting Corner to make a craft designed especially for SkyFest.
  • TGC Office: Walk through this recreation of the Secret Area as if you yourself were TGC staff.
  • Art Book Signing Session: The three authors of The Art of Sky—Jennie Kong, Yui Tanabe, and Cecil Kim—will gather to sign your artbook (or any Sky merchandise).
  • thatskyshop Special Pop-up Store: Featuring items to celebrate the 5th anniversary! Accessible from the free admission area as well (more about the different admission areas below).
  • Sound Bath: If you need a break, be sure to visit the Sound Bath located in the free admission area!

We’ll share more details (and pictures!) as the event approaches. Of course, a number of TGC staff will be around, too. and we’ve heard that some of the Elders might be there as well. Who knows what could be possible? What we can say for now is that SkyFest is meant to be experienced, not just watched. With so much happening, we hope there’s something for every Child of the Light to explore!
Ticket Information
As mentioned in our previous blog, SkyFest 2024 in Tokyo will be a paid ticketed event. Tickets will be available by lottery, and those who are selected will then be able to purchase tickets.

Note: This lottery system through Lawson Ticket is available only to residents of Japan—unfortunately it cannot accommodate applicants who reside in other countries. Before applying, please be sure to read all the information below.

Ticket Lottery Application
Begins 12:00 pm June 2, 2024 (Sun.)
Ends 11:59 pm June 9, 2024 (Sun.)
Results are scheduled to be announced after 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024.

Ticket Price
Adult: ¥3500 per session
Child: ¥1800 per session (for elementary and junior high school students)

Where to Apply
Lawson Ticket: https://l-tike.com
L code: 34677
Membership registration is required to apply. Please refer to their User's Guide.

Please Note
  • Ticket price includes tax.
  • Other ticket fees will be charged at the time of ticket purchase.
  • For safety reasons, admission to this event is limited to ages 7 and older.
  • Child tickets are available for elementary and junior high school students. High school students and older will need to purchase an adult ticket.
  • Elementary and junior high school students must be accompanied by a guardian. Admission may be denied for holders of child tickets who are not accompanied by a guardian with an adult ticket.
Perks for Ticket Holders
• SkyFest wristband that allows attendees to freely enter and exit the main venue area during the session that your ticket is for.
  • Only ticket holders are allowed to enter the Main Stage and Harmony Hall area. (Please see the bottom of the blog for more details about the free admission areas.)
  • SkyFest 2024 Special Goodie Bag: This blue bag is filled with souvenirs, cards you can use at the venue, and more—plus it looks like a cape when you wear it.
  • Daily Quests and special rewards: Ticket holders will be able to try out Daily Quests at the venue. When all quests are stamped and completed, you’ll receive a collectable clear card and a very special item—one of 12 types available that are debuting at SkyFest (and which are all pretty adorable if we do say so ourselves)!
thatskyshop Exclusive: SkyFest Celebration Bundle
Another type of ticket will be offered exclusively through thatskyshop: the SkyFest Celebration Bundle. A total of 200 of these tickets are available for the event—50 for each session—and not only do these bundles include guaranteed admission to the venue, they come with official Sky merchandise, special experiences at the venue, and more.

SkyFest Celebration Bundles will be ¥35,000 each. Sales start on thatskyshop at 12:00 pm June 2, 2024.

SkyFest Celebration Bundle Perks
Each bundle comes with an admission ticket for a session, plus:
  • Official Sky merch including a tote bag, 5th Anniversary T-shirt, an official The Art of Sky artbook, and an autographed thank-you card
  • Art book signing priority voucher
  • Main Stage VIP Access
  • A special extra Daily Quest reward (if you also complete the quest, you will get two rewards in total)
  • Meet and greet session with Jenova

SkyFest Celebration Bundle tickets will not be sold through the Lawson ticket lottery system. Instead, they can be purchased on a first-come, first-served basis on thatskyshop. All SkyFest Celebration Bundle tickets are the same price regardless of the age of the ticket holder. However, if an elementary or junior high school student purchases a SkyFest Celebration Bundle ticket, a guardian must also purchase a SkyFest Celebration Bundle and accompany them. Again, for safety reasons admission to this event is limited to ages 7 and older regardless of the type of ticket purchased.
Free Admission Area
The main ticketed area is separate from the rest of the venue, but the spacious corridor that wraps around the perimeter is open to all visitors so anyone can enjoy themed photo spots and (albeit from a distance) sculptures recreated from in-game scenery. Not to mention, TGC staff may pass through this area too, so go ahead and say hello if you see any of us! The Sound Bath and thatskyshop pop-up store will also be located in the free admission area and open to all during the event hours.

We’ll also be handing out cards with special Sky codes to everyone who comes to the event! This code can be used in-game to receive 25 regular Candles plus a set of spells that include something blue, something delicious, something sparkly, and maybe some other fun anniversary extras (Sky code cards are also included with paid ticketed admission).

Two hours after the start of each session, up to 100 non-ticket holders will be invited into the venue area, depending on how crowded it gets (a dedicated line will be made for this).
However, please note that perks for ticket holders such as the Daily Quest activities will not apply for non-ticket holders. The Main Stage and the Harmony Hall Crafting Corner will also not be accessible.

*Whether ticketed or non-ticketed, those who enter the event area must be at least 7 years old. Similarly, elementary and junior high school-age attendees must be accompanied by a guardian.
A Few Notes If You Attend
We wanted to mention just a few other things to be aware of if you decide to join us in-person at SkyFest:

  • First, TGC staff and related personnel may take videos and photos inside and outside the venue. Attendees may also be filmed or photographed for official TGC promotions and social media posts in the future. Please be aware that by attending the event, you’ll be agreeing to let us use videos and images that you may be in.
  • As a reminder, elementary and junior high school students need to be accompanied by a guardian at all times. If you bring younger Sky kids with you, please do not leave them unattended in the venue area.
  • Eating is not permitted in the venue area. You may bring your own beverages, but please use containers with lids that can properly close. Absolutely no alcoholic beverages are allowed in the venue area. We may ask you to leave if you are under the influence of alcohol.
  • Please refrain from bringing large luggage such as duffel bags or carry-on suitcases, as we will not be able to accept any luggage. Please keep your valuables close to you.
  • We definitely welcome you to bring fanart and take pictures with them around the exhibits. However, please do not bring large or fragile items, or items that may harm people around you (items with sharp corners, long objects, etc.).
  • Attendees are welcome to wear costumes and other cosplay at the venue, but changing clothes at or in the vicinity of the venue will not be permitted.
  • Please do not distribute your fanart or other works at the venue.
  • We ask everyone to follow the instructions of the staff at the venue.

Whew that’s a lot of info! Glad you made it to the end. We know this is quite a bit for one blog article (one of our longest so far), but we couldn’t help but share the details—We’re getting more and more excited about the event and we hope that you are too!

Most of all, though, we hope that SkyFest will be a memorable event that Sky kids will enjoy together as they celebrate Sky's 5th birthday in a spectacular way! If you’re in Japan and are interested in coming, consider purchasing tickets or even just coming by for a visit.

Stay tuned to our Japanese social media channels for announcements when applications begin for the ticket lottery. We hope to see you at the SkyFest, both in game and in person in Tokyo!

Patch Notes - May 23, 2024 - 0.25.5 (264243)

Hello everyone! This update brings a slew of bug fixes, plus the rest of the Season and some updates to Nests and the Nesting Challenge Board. Mark your calendars for two favorites on the Sky event calendar, too: Days of Nature and Days of Color!
Season of Nesting Continues
This patch brings the second half of the Season, with new quests to share with the Nesting Guide—not to mention new features and improvements for your Nest. The update has tweaks for improved lighting in your Nest at night, more unique animations for avatars as they sit on different types of furniture, plus a new feature that we’re hoping will spark inspiration for everyone—an option in your Nest menu to view other Nests.

You’ll be able to “scroll” through a preview of these Nests that favors ones your friends have made while also showing Nests that other players have made too. It’s just a preview, though, so you won’t see anyone in this view, and other players won’t see anyone who might be viewing their Nest through this feature either.

What you’ll see in the 0.25.5 update is the first version of this view feature. We want to use your feedback as we keep building on it, so once the next patch goes live and you get a chance to try it out, let us know what you think in the #live-feedback channel on our Discord server and feedback threads on our official Facebook page!

Season of Nesting continues until 23:59 June 30th (all times PDT, UTC -7).
Nesting Challenge Board
Don’t forget, the Nesting Challenge Board is a permanent addition to the game, so its quests (and rewards) will remain in the game even after the Season ends. The remaining quests can be unlocked beginning in this patch (but again, no rush on these—they’re sticking around).

After completing all the challenges in a tree, several props will be available to unlock: an instrument stand, a music player, and a stone figurine.
  • Instrument stand: Use it to set out any one instrument from your closet to play. If it’s placed in an area where other players can interact with it, they can play the instrument you set out!
  • Music player: Plays various pieces of music that are in the game. There are several “channels” that have their own musical themes.
  • Stone figurine: A decorative figure that can wear any hairstyle, hats, neck items, or capes you have in your closet. (This is a decorative item only; it will not allow players to copy and wear the same items that the stone figurine is wearing.)
Days of Nature
Days of Nature brings a new experience to Prairie Peaks! From 00:00 May 27th through 23:59 June 16th, join your fellow Sky kids and a group of determined Spirits to help protect the mountain river—a Shard Eruption during the event threatens the waters of one of Sky’s most pristine spaces.

Each week brings a different phase as the Spirits try and retry to build a device that can contain the eruption’s Darkness. Clear the pollution to earn Light, but beware! A new creature is at home in that Darkness, and they don’t appreciate it when Sky children get too close…

During the event you can find 4 event currency each day, placed in different spots around Prairie Peaks. Use these to unlock this year’s new IGC items:
  • Ocean Mask: 16 event currency
  • Ocean Blue Scarf: 40 event currency

This year the event will again offer special IAPs to support charity efforts focused on real-world cleanup work in oceans and waterways.

Half of the total list price of items listed here will be donated to these efforts. The remaining amount will cover platform fees and a portion of development. (Platform fees: the amount that all developers are charged for each sale on platforms such as the Apple App Store, Google Play, etc. Development: includes operations, taxes, and post-event refunds.)

  • New this year—Nature Wave Pack: $19.99 (all prices USD)
    • As a token of gratitude in return, 75 regular Candles are included with the purchase of this charity pack
    • $10.00: donated to charity

    • As a token of gratitude in return, 75 regular Candles are included with the purchase of this charity pack
    • $10: donated to charity

For more details about our past support for ocean clean-up projects, check out our page here!

Players can also choose from several returning items for IGC or for regular purchase as souvenirs of the event. (Please note that these are not charity items.)

  • Nature School Cape: 180 Candles
    • An asymmetrical cape featuring a partially transparent motif
  • Nature Coral Crown Accessory: 20 Hearts

Free trial spells for all items will be in the event shop in Aviary Village. Items can be found to unlock or purchase in the event shop in Aviary Village or from the in-game shop menu. The event guide in Prairie Peaks will offer some of those items in their Friendship Tree, too!
Days of Color
From 00:00 June 24th through 23:59 July 7th, the skies will again be filled with vibrant rainbows reflecting the diverse world we share!

Talk to Spirits in Aviary Village or Home to join them in an area high above the Daylight Prairie Village. There you can unlock a colorful rainbow puzzle day by day (with friends or solo)—and take a dip in a magical geyser that will add a splash of color to your avatar’s cape and more.

Once the day’s color puzzle is unlocked, soar into a new area to enjoy enchanting scenery and a brand new racecourse that can host some friendly runs through its twists and turns. With a host of improvements this year, you just might find yourself in your new favorite place in Sky, too. These festivities are all about celebrating the tapestry we create together, sharing a message of hope and the beauty of a world where all colors can shine.

As you soar around the event space, watch out for 5 rainbow-shaped event currency each day: 4 around the area, and 1 from completing the day’s color puzzle.

This year we’re proud to once again share that we’ll be supporting the The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people. The Trevor Project’s programs include crisis services, education, peer support for people around the world, and other efforts to ensure young people can have the chance to thrive no matter who they are.
2024 Days of Color Campaign Items

Other Days of Color Items
The cosmetics below will be offered for sale or in exchange for in-game currency. They can be found from the event guide Spirits, or from the in-game shop. (Please note that these are not campaign items.)

New this year:
  • Color Glam Cut: 18 event currency
  • Dark Rainbow Mask: 32 event currency
  • Color Bubble Machine: $14.99
    • The bubbles from this prop change to match the cape color of the closest player!

This year’s event is also the one-year anniversary of event currency! These are used for the newest in-game currency items in an event in the current year, so items introduced for event currency last year can now be unlocked for varying amounts of regular in-game currency this year.
Improvements and Bug Fixes in this update include:

Highlights
• Added a new node in the Nesting Guide’s Friendship Tree to teleport from Home directly to the Nesting Workshop.
  • Restored normal chat functionality to the Purple Bloom Teaset, Cozy Cafe Table, and the Season of Remembrance tea kettle.
  • Fixed Hearts appearing not to be collected from the Friendship Constellation when the recipient also had a gift of Light to collect from the same friend star.
  • Traveling Spirit properly appears in both Aviary Village and Home.
  • Fixed cases of a friend’s Nest being empty when you joined them.
  • Fixed excessive bloom and brightness occurring in certain areas of levels, like underwater in Prairie Peaks, Valley of Triumph Citadel and races, the end of Eye of Eden, Golden Wasteland Graveyard, and other locations.
  • You can now hold your candle and pick up a crab too (instead of dropping it like before).
  • Updated Daily Quest list UI.

Want more details about some other fixes in this patch? Read the full list below!
General Fixes & Improvements
• Fixed white narrative candles giving Light. This doesn’t affect the total amount of Light available in the game from red candles.
  • [iOS] First round of changes to support bluetooth keyboard gameplay on iOS.
  • Fixed an exploit that allowed a player to use and then cancel a Shared Spaces spell in order to recharge with it, without consuming the spell.
  • Picking up a plushie in a Shared Space or Nest while in preview mode should no longer risk launching it into the air or out the window.
  • Additional fixes to ensure new default hairstyles persist between game sessions.
  • Fixed some audio distortion issues that could occur after prolonged play.
  • Fixed a bug that activated the prop cooldown timer in the expression menu when a player used a controller or keyboard to attempt to retrieve a prop.
  • Heart Gift text is no longer blocked by the Meditation Pad hint text when claiming a Heart at the Return Shrine in Home.
  • Potential resolution for a bug that was preventing some players from sending Hearts through the Friendship Constellation. (This one was tricky to investigate and reproduce internally, so we’ll continue to monitor the bug report channels/threads on Discord and Facebook in case folks are still encountering it!)
  • [Steamdeck] The previous sent message isn’t duplicated in the chat input box when opening it.
Gameplay
• When a player exits the game, any friends who were with them in their Nest are now moved back to Aviary Village.
  • To prevent cases where a player would be spawned beneath the map, using the elevator to go to your Nest now breaks handhold.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed interactions with items, Player Creations, and other objects during preview mode for a Shared Space or Nest.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented equipped props from being placed in your Nest until you had entered and exited edit mode.
  • Fixed an error that allowed placement of items outside of Nests.
  • In Festival Tech mode, when a player transitions levels they’ll stay with the same group of Festival Tech avatars.
  • Unified functionality for all Player Creations that allows a player to see the same Creation that someone who isn’t their friend is viewing.
  • The turtle in Sanctuary Island is back to their regular schedule.
  • NOTE: An ongoing bug is preventing the footbag prop from functioning when it’s placed in a Shared Space or Nest. We’re continuing to work on a permanent fix for this issue, but for now the prop will temporarily be unplaceable in Shared Spaces and Nests to reduce confusion the bug may cause.
Cosmetics
• Added countdown timers to all the seasonal items in the Nesting Workshop to more directly indicate that these will no longer be available after Season of Nesting ends.
  • Updated and added backpacks to carry some of the furniture props that looked kinda awkward squished down onto avatars’ backs.
  • Corrected the color of one of the Season of Gratitude capes.
  • Spikes for the base game mohawk hairstyle are spikier.
  • Slight tweak to Bearhug Hermit horn accessory to match boots.
  • Backend optimization for some hairstyles, which may make the red hair clip on the Sparkler Parent hairstyle appear a bit more vibrant.
  • The light from the Season of Assembly lantern shines in the correct direction.
  • Potential resolution for a shader issue that made Season of Rhythm hairstyles look metallic.
Graphics & Appearance
• Polished Player Creations menu UI.
  • Fixed a slew of bugs where the player’s arms or feet would clip into a furniture item.
  • Your Sky kid’s eyes should now close when you’re sleeping on the stone-made bed.
  • Fixed a quirk where the camera would randomly pull back a little after your avatar stood still for a bit.
  • When another player rings the bells in Aviary Village, it won’t cause your avatar to do the animation as if you were the one ringing them.
  • [iOS] Fixed a bug with the Season of Moments camera prop—now when in-game recording while using that camera, the recording UI will continue to display properly even if you put the Moments camera away.
  • No more really uncomfortable-looking torso twisting when a player takes the Hopeful Steward’s hand at the beginning of the first Revival quest.
  • Realigned timer with icon when viewing an activated spell icon in the expression menu.
PC
• Improvements to gamepad controls for selecting different interact options.
  • Other players’ avatars can be selected while holding the alt key.
  • Windowed mode is saved as a user preference between sessions.
  • Game recognizes your primary gamepad input based on whichever controller a player most recently connected or used.

  • Arrow keys function as intended when assigned custom controls under Controller Settings.
  • V button can be properly used when assigned to features such as chat, currency, item abilities, etc.

  • Vietnamese characters can be properly entered when using the spacebar.

Please refer to this page for known issues ongoing or introduced with this patch: Known Issues Patch 0.25.5.

As always, we look forward to hearing your feedback, and encourage you to join the community discussion on our official Discord server at discord.gg/thatskygame!
Known Issues Patch 0.25.5
We are aware of the following bugs that are ongoing or were introduced with the arrival of Patch 0.25.5:

  • Valley of Triumph race doors do not appear to open for players that do not sit at the meditation circles. However, a friend that has sat and opened the doors can hold hands with these friends and pull them through to the race.
  • When other players sit at a Season of Assembly or Season of Flight Guide quest meditation circle, and/or sitting at meditation circles for Shard Eruptions, players in the same instance will automatically be engaged in the quest or activity.
  • Some players may experience a crash when viewing a Shared Memory that includes the instrument stand.
  • The instrument stand is not displaying properly in Shared Memories.
  • The prop meter in the Nest’s decoration mode is not properly updating when adding and removing props.

We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience these may cause while we work to resolve them in a future update.

Aid a River in Need: Days of Nature 2024

Prairie Peaks is usually a haven away from the remains of the kingdom, but starting on May 27th, Spirits and Sky children alike will be called to aid the river that brings life to the area when Days of Nature returns.

For three weeks, Shard Eruptions and the Darkness they bring threaten the health of Prairie Peaks’ waters. Spirits will be on hand to build a device that keeps the corruption from spreading downstream, but it’s up to Sky kids to capture its pollution and stop it from impacting the spaces around the river.

“Well you’re in luck,” we hear you say. “I happen to be something of an expert at clearing away Darkness.” That’s reassuring, because it turns out this Shard Eruption has attracted a new type of Dark Creature—one who’s not as eager for the debris to be cleared from their new home. Be sure to team up and be quick on your feet to dodge them as you aid the river and your fellow players (or alternately let them share their hugs with you, we support your choice of either play style).

As you fly and swim and roll around the area, don’t forget to watch out for event currency! Four can be found around the area each day. Use them to unlock a mask with a splash of glittering blue, and an ocean-themed scarf in shades of sapphire and turquoise.

As for other new and returning items, we’ll have those too! If you’re looking for more new outfit items, the Nature Wave-Touched Hair may add some cerulean to your style, and the Nature Wave Pack captures the movement of a running river in cape form.

Not to mention, all the classics from past years will be back, from the translucent Nature School Cape to the Nature Turtle Pack and even the 2020 original, the vibrant green Earth Cape.
2024 Charity Items
We’re also pleased to share that the majority of IAP items sold during Days of Nature will support real-world cleanup efforts in oceans and waterways. These are the items listed below. A little more than half of the total list price for each item sold will be donated. Of the remaining amount, 30% will cover platform fees and 20% to a portion of development.

(Platform fees: the amount that all developers are charged for each sale on platforms such as the Apple App Store, Google Play, etc. Development: includes operations, taxes, and post-event refunds.)

  • New this year—Nature Wave Pack: $19.99 (new this year)
    • As a token of gratitude in return, 75 regular Candles are included with the purchase of this charity pack
    • $10.00: donated to charity
  • Ocean Necklace: $1.99 (returning item)
    • $1.00: donated to charity
  • Nature Sonorous Seashell: $4.99 (returning item)
    • This placeable item has a toggle to play relaxing ocean sound effects
    • $2.50: donated to charity
  • Earth Cape: $4.99 (returning item)
    • $2.50: donated to charity
  • Ocean Cape: $14.99 (returning item)
    • $7.50: donated to charity
  • Nature Glasses Pack: $19.99 (returning item)
    • A toggle for these sunglasses adds a bluer tint to the world around you
    • As a token of gratitude in return, 75 regular Candles are included with the purchase of this charity pack
    • $10: donated to charity
  • Nature Turtle Pack: $19.99 (returning item)
    • As a token of gratitude in return, 75 regular Candles are included with the purchase of this charity pack
    • $10: donated to charity

For more details on all the new and returning items coming for Days of Nature, stay tuned for our 0.25.5 patch notes, coming soon! And if you want to read more about our past support for ocean clean-up projects, check out our page here!

Once Days of Nature begins, talk to the Event Guide Spirits in Aviary Village, who can teleport you to Prairie Peaks and offer items to unlock in their Friendship Trees. Don’t forget, you can also head to the Sanctuary Islands area to play the activities from last year’s event, too (in case you need more quality time with the manatees).

Season of Nesting Updates for 0.25.5

Hey everyone! It looks like you’ve been pretty busy setting up your Nests, so we wanted to share a quick update about the Season and related Nesting features, and what will be coming for it in the 0.25.5 update.

First, we have to say up front that it’s been a blast to see all the Nests you’ve been creating—honestly we’ve lost count of how many pictures we’ve posted on our team Slack channels of all the cool designs that you’ve been sharing with the community.

We’ve also been following your feedback about your experience with the Season so far, so the team wanted to share some insights about what’s coming up with the Season, your Nests, and the Nesting Challenge Board in the upcoming 0.25.5 update, and some of the long-term conversation around these for the future beyond the end of the Season.
What’s coming up for the Season in 0.25.5?
Well, here are a few improvements based on feedback you’ve shared with us.

Nests look too dark at night: We’ve adjusted the lighting to address that feedback, so your Nest should be a little bit easier to see when the stars are out.

Excessive bloom in dark areas: We got your reports about that too, and the update will have fixes to tone that down.

Items to unlock for currency in the Nesting Workshop were simultaneously featured to use in your Nest: Our apologies for that confusion! The items that are both in the Nesting Workshop lineup and featured in your Nest have been temporarily removed from the Nesting Workshop rotation until we can better clarify their availability.

(We made the rotation change independent of the 0.25.5 release, so that’s already in effect. Meanwhile, the fix for making these items available in a clearer way will come at a later date, so we’ll keep you posted!)

Will the Heart rewards in the Nesting Guide’s Challenge Board remain free after the Season ends? Answer: yep! The Challenge Board isn’t limited to just the Season of Nesting, so the challenges and the rewards will remain available to complete and unlock at your own pace long after the Season is over. In 0.25.5, we’ll remove the timer that appears with the Challenge Board to make that clearer. We’ve also seen some folks ask about the Nesting Guide and what some of the story is with them. That’s a fair question, which we hope the upcoming Seasonal Quests can help answer.
Also in the Works
One thing we know: Sky kids should be cuter when they sit on furniture. The animation team has made this a reality, so once 0.25.5 comes, Sky kids will properly curl up, stretch out, and lounge on their favorite furniture.

We’re also including a feature that we’re hoping will spark inspiration for everyone—a toggle to view other Nests. It’s similar to the function that allows you to see a range of Shared Spaces when you’re at a Shared Space Shrine.

You’ll be able to “scroll” through a preview that favors your friends’ Nests while also showing Nests of other Sky children too. It’s just a preview, though, so you won’t see anyone in this view, and they won’t see anyone who might be viewing their Nest through this toggle either. It’s also not a Player Creation toggle, so it won’t include an option to send Hearts.

What you’ll see in the 0.25.5 update is the first version of this view feature. We want to use your feedback as we keep building on it, so once the next patch goes live and you get a chance to try it out, let us know what you think in the #live-feedback channel on our Discord server!
Other Nesting Ideas
The community has been really creative both with making some amazing Nests, and with sharing some great ideas and suggestions too. We wanted to touch on a few of those real quick.

A couple suggestions we’ve seen is to add ways to specify how many of an item you want to get from the Nesting Workshop, and to add “save slots” so that you could have a couple different versions of your decorated Nest. We’ve also seen some players wanting to make their Nest a third option for a loading point in the game, alongside Home and Aviary Village.

First of all, we love that you’ve liked your Nest so much that you want it to be your “home base” in the game! We’ll be exploring what might be possible with these suggestions. Some of them would require developing additional tech that we don’t have right now, and there would be a lot of other design questions to answer first before we’d know if we could make Nests a loading point, so we can’t make any promises. Still, we’re looking into what might be possible!

There’s plenty of other stuff in the 0.25.5 update that won’t fit into this post (Days of Nature and Days of Color, anyone?), but we wanted to share at least a little bit of what’s coming in the second half of the Season. We can’t wait for everyone to try out the new quests and features and to hear your feedback about it. See you in the skies!

P.S. A special thank you to @johnsten and @rizawiza on Discord, @ponztare and @in_the_SKY_sega on Twitter, and @thatsocialkev and @lostgirlgaming on Twitch for sharing these great pictures of their Nests!
