It’s time for the second instalment of our two-part series on Romance in Tales of Seikyu! We covered seven of our romanceable NPCs villagers in part one, and now it’s time to take a look at seven more eligible bachelors and bachelorettes.

Romance is one of the key features of Tales of Seikyu, and each character has their own unique personality, interests, and aspirations. No two villagers are the same, and it’s up to you to get to know them and decide which villager has captured your heart. There will be a total of 14 romanceable characters at 1.0, so let’s see if part two contains the person of your dreams!

[h2]🎤 Yoni [/h2]



The bright-eyed starlet who dreams of making it as an idol. Yoni is a deer Yokai who struggles to assert herself and seems to have an unusual relationship with Kababa, the manager of the casino. There’s no doubt that Yoni is talented, but her naivety makes her an easy mark for Seikyu’s less-savoury characters who’d happily exploit her hardworking nature for their own gains.

This people pleaser could really use some help with finding her confidence and setting some boundaries so that she can focus on making her dreams become a reality!

[h2]🔮 Anna [/h2]



Anna is a quiet girl who works in the casino and has a far-off look in her eyes. With such a distant personality, getting to know this daydreamer won’t be easy, but could there be more to her than it seems? It’s hard to tell if Anna is purposefully evasive or simply too meek to make a connection, but one thing is for sure: she is yearning for something beyond her humble role at the casino.

It’ll take plenty of time and dedication to uncover Anna’s true nature, and there’s no telling what you might find when you do. Could you become a pair of star-crossed lovers or will your differences be enough to drive you apart?

[h2]👒 Miss. Ama[/h2]



An elegant tailor with an air of celebrity about her – did you know that she used to be a famous actress? Miss Ama’s past is filled with drama, both on and off the stage. Perhaps this is why she chose to settle down in the sleepy village of Seikyu? Her shop sells only the finest garments and her skills with a sewing needle are second to none.

It’s true that Miss Ama is drawn to the finer things in life, and some might even describe her grandiose and melodramatic, but she isn’t as haughty as she lets on. Her time as a star has left her a little jaded and perhaps even closed off to relationships, but while she may have retired from acting, there could still be room for romance in her future if the right person comes along…

[h2]🎨 Liliana Shibata[/h2]



Liliana is a gentle artist who loves painting flowers and spends her days searching for rare blooms to capture on canvas. She is Yohji’s twin sister with a similarly inquisitive personality, though she is far less interested in the politics of Seikyu. Instead, her curiosity is satiated by interacting with nature and getting to know the world around her.

Hungry for perfection, Liliana puts everything into her artwork and can be self-critical as a result. Her constant diligence doesn’t leave a lot of room for romance, but a little support and a push to paint for herself rather than the approval of others might be the way to win her heart.

[h2]📜 Leon Achyard[/h2]



Leon is Seikyu’s priest and teacher. As he was once a great explorer, his travels, stories, and history are a thing of legend (and all of it has been immortalised in his best-selling autobiography “Adventures of Leon!”). With such a rich past behind him, he now uses his wealth and knowledge to help Yui manage the town – bringing both vitality and joy to Seikyu!

It is said that Leon’s stories are sometimes a little long-winded, and he can often become too wrapped up in his own research. However, he has a big heart and is passionate about maintaining harmony in Seikyu. He may be wise, but surely there is someone out there who can win his affections and teach this old sage a thing or two?

[h2]🌊 Mika Fukuhara[/h2]



Mika is a water-loving Yokai with long, lifeful hair, and a traditional sense of style. She runs the local spa in Seikyu – a place to relax and unwind after your adventures. There are rumours that the rejuvenating properties of the spa waters may have a hand in Mika’s radiance and youthful appearance, with her true age being unknown.

Though beautiful, Mika is a humble woman who doesn’t really put herself out there. Along with the mystery surrounding her age, not much is known about her Yokai form, and some even speculate that her beauty may be a ploy to distract from something frightful beneath the surface. Getting to know this mysterious beauty may not be risk-free, but it could lead to a truly rewarding romance!

[h2]🔨 Sasaki[/h2]



A kind and caring jokester who masks his anxiety with an easy-going personality. Sasaki runs the local furniture store, which he inherited from a kindly old lady who looked after him as a kid. Although it may be a little bit more than he can reasonably handle, he’ll always give it a go. He enjoys working with wood, which contrasts his somewhat clumsy nature.

An all-around good guy with a heart of gold, Sasaki is well-intentioned and uncomplicated. He tries his hardest to be self-sufficient to avoid being a burden or inconveniencing others, but he could really use a hand! Can you be the one to help him make sense of it all?

Winter is a magical time in Seikyu, a thick blanket of snow covers the countryside and your farmhouse feels extra cosy and inviting. We’ve been working hard on developing Seikyu ever since our playtest and things are running smoothly behind the scenes. It’s been wonderful to hear your feedback and we can’t tell you how much we appreciate any and all input from our community.

As we get closer to Christmas, we know that many community members will be celebrating or taking a break for the holidays. Things might be a little bit quieter for us too, since our community managers will be enjoying some well-deserved rest until the New Year. So, from all of us here at Tales of Seikyu, we wanted to say happy holidays and to let you all know how excited we are for the year to come (✿◡‿◡).

Hello Seikyuians!

Welcome to the first instalment of our two-part series on Romance in Tales of Seikyu! Join us as we dive into the personalities of the many NPCs just waiting to steal your hearts. 💞

Romancing is a delightful journey of discovering each character's unique quirks and supporting them through life’s ups and downs. It’s about helping the object of your affection pursue their dreams, boosting their confidence, encouraging them to develop special skills — and so much more!

Romance also involves thoughtful gestures, like gifting favourite items or foods (especially on birthdays!) and sharing meaningful conversations. 💬

We'll have 14 different characters to choose from at 1.0, meaning there'll be someone for everyone! From the elegant and charming to the quirky and cheerful, let's take a look at the first seven villagers.

[h2]🐈 Musashi[/h2]

Charming and mysterious, with a humble upbringing, this cat-Yokai merchant has a shady backstory; peddling black-market goods in order to put food on the table. He hopes to redeem himself in Seikyu and start with a clean slate, but those he wronged seem intent on reminding him of his dark past. For the time being, he’s concealing his cat form to avoid detection.

As you get closer to Musashi, you’ll notice that he’s a little guarded. It will take some time and effort to earn his trust and get him to open up to you. It remains to be seen if Musashi can escape his past and achieve the prosperous life he’s always dreamed of.

[h2]🌺Yui Oda [/h2]

Part of the prestigious Oda family, Yui comes from a long line of elected officials. The elegant yet resilient mayor of Seikyu, she feels an immense responsibility towards the town. She has dreams of appearing on television – in particular, showcasing her delicious baked goods – but there is something holding her back from pursuing this.

Yui is nervous to share her Yokai form with the rest of Seikyu, worried that it might impact how they perceive her. Can you help her relax into her role as mayor and help her achieve her dreams? Yui Oda will need an understanding and supportive confidant to help her work through her anxieties about her identity and love her for all of what she is, not just what people see.

[h2]💪🏻Hephaestus[/h2]

Hephaestus is a bull Yokai Blacksmith who seems to retain the size, strength and persistence of a bull in his human form! Don’t be fooled by appearances; despite his size, he is a kind and sensitive soul at heart.

It’s rumoured that Heph was once the apprentice of a famous swordsmith and that his talents extend far beyond his craft – making him a formidable foe in battle. That being said, his dreams are far less violent, with the goal of opening his own shop and making a name for himself as an artisan. Above all however, his life’s purpose is to find someone worthy of wielding his master’s blade. As a firm believer of destiny, Heph is confident that a special person like that will appear soon.

[h2]🍶Shuten [/h2]

Shuten is a wise and tough tavern owner and mother to two adopted children, Kinntarou & Ritsuryo, from a previous romance. It wasn’t all roses and rainbows, so the pain still lingers. She can often be found pouring drinks and offering advice or a listening ear to her troubled customers. With an indulgent personality, she’s known to enjoy a drink to two, and she loves the rush of gambling!

There’s more to Shuten than meets the eye, however, and her indulgence has gotten her into trouble on more than one occasion in the past. Get to know her, and you might just find she’s harbouring some troubles of her own. Despite her worries, she seems happy with her small family and with her life, but she longs to move on from her past and, perhaps, to find a new love?

[h2]🦦Torleone[/h2]

Torleone is an otter Yokai with a chequered past, which has left him with the nickname ‘godfather of the sea’ – it’s probably best you don’t ask too many questions about that. He keeps his history private from the villagers of Seikyu, who simply see him as the headstrong fish-shop owner and protective uncle of Seabert.

The only thing that seems to shake this otter’s stalwart constitution is the elegant charm of a particular bird Yokai. It seems as though Tolerone is still grappling with an unfinished job from his past – one he took a lot of risks to carry out. It’s been years, but he’s determined to see it through. Perhaps someone can help Torleone with his unfinished business and help him look to the future!

[h2]🖤Nyotengu[/h2]

A warrior from the winged Tengu clan, peace-keepers of the Yokai world. Seikyu is a tad too peaceful for this brazen and battle-hungry woman. It appears that the only thing keeping her in the countryside is clan loyalty, and she spends her days savouring delicious drink, wandering the streets, and dealing with small-fry Yokai troublemakers.

She wields a special blade with a dark secret that weighs heavily on her heart. Nyotengu plans to leave Seikyu soon, seeking greener, more exciting pastures. She might just find a renewed sense of purpose and a reason to stay if someone could bring a little excitement to this sleepy village.

[h2]🎩Yohji Shibata[/h2]

Yohji is the diplomat of Seikyu, equal parts gentleman and swordsman. He’s always longed for the human utopia described in Tales of Glory and he uses his political power to push Seikyu toward that ideal.

Reticent by nature, he’s sometimes misunderstood, and he lost a lot of favour amongst the townsfolk when he allowed Kababa to set up the casino in town. He explores the Fox ruins as much as he can in hopes of being able to discover more about humans, and about the history of Seikyu. Could someone with an enquiring mind help him in his pursuit of knowledge and win his heart?

Early Access is a development journey, and the story of Seikyu will grow and unfold as we update the game alongside direct input from our community – we’re excited to hear your thoughts! The Early Access version won’t reflect the full and final product, but it’s the perfect time to start your Seikyu story since grabbing the game at Early Access means you’ll own Tales of Seikyu forever with no further purchase required at launch. We’d love to have you by our side as we bring our vision for Seikyu to life!

You shared all kinds of thoughts with us, including what you loved and what you felt needed a little work in order to make Seikyu a truly wonderful experience. Now that we’ve had some time to review your feedback, we wanted to go through some of the areas we’re aiming to show a little love to ahead of our Early Access launch (date TBA).
