Developer Diaries #3 - Portraits, Rooms & Mystery
Hello again, Seikyuians!
Early Access Launch is only 2 days away and we can't wait to see you adventuring in Seikyu! As you can imagine we’re very busy getting the town ready (such as balancing and bug testing), and Mayor Yui Oda is eagerly awaiting your arrival so she can guide you through your first day.

As we mentioned in our previous Developer Diaries, we have now released a Road Map to show you what’s coming beyond Early Access Launch!

Right, on with the developer diaries as we have some new things to share with you! (づ ◕‿◕ )づ
🎮Mika’s Portraits & Expressions
With Major Content Update 1.0 you’ll be able to open Seikyu’s very own Hot Springs, where you will be greeted by the lovely Mika Fukuhara; a water-loving Yokai. Our very talented artists are making great progress on her portraits. Her normal expression should elude a bit to her interests & hobbies; as it did with her room sneak peek we showed in Developer Diaries #1.

Along with the mystery surrounding her age, not much is known about her Yokai form... Perhaps something for you to find out in the future? (-‿◦☀)
🏡A little bit of decorating
We’re delighted to give you another peek into a villager's home (Seabert kindly asked for permission first) so here’s a peek into adding personalised effects and furniture to Mayor Yui Oda’s home! Making these homes involves developing both setup and lighting as well as making sure there’s a range of appropriate furniture to fit the personality that inhabits the space.

As an avid baker it is to no one's surprise that Yui’s home is equipped with baking equipment and knick knacks to support her dreams of showcasing her deliciously baked goods on television. We believe in your dream Yui! 🍰
🐦‍🔥 Mystery Romanceable Male NPC
You’ve had plenty of updates about this mystery male NPC and here’s more to satiate some of your curiosity. He’s got a beautiful set of clothes, deep purple eyes and a whole lot more to him than meets the eye... 👀
🩷Enjoy Tales of Seikyu!
We hope you are excited to experience what Seikyu has to offer this week. Whether that be adventuring the beautiful hillsides, exploring the mysterious fox ruins, getting to know the village and its yokai residents, romancing the locals, exploring your yokai forms, farming or decorating your farmhouse - we truly hope that you find your place of happiness in Tales of Seikyu.

Check Out Our Tales of Seikyu Roadmap!

Hi there Seikyuans! We’re getting closer and closer to our Early Access launch (May 21st!) and we’ve been sharing lots of information about the game and its development in the run up. It’s safe to say that we’re pretty excited ✧。٩(ˊᗜˋ )و✧*。

Tales of Seikyu will be in ongoing development throughout the Early Access period, and we’ll be making updates to the game with bug fixes, optimizations, and new content. For an idea of what’s to come, please check out our brand-new Tales of Seikyu roadmap!

Our first major content update will bring a whole bunch of main story quests, more heart events, and a new datable NPC – the beautiful yet enigmatic Mika! Players will also be able to enjoy Seikyu’s summer festival, take a relaxing dip in the hotspring, and begin raising livestock on the ranch. All this plus additional outfits, furniture, and more!

Looking to the future, and in no particular order, we’ll be continuing the main story of Seikyu, which means more quests, boss battles, and options to expand the village. We’ll be bringing you even more datable NPCs, heart events, birthday events, and (when you’re ready to take things to the next level) marriage! There’s plenty more customisation on the horizon AND we’re aiming to add exciting features such as pets, new yokai transformations, casino games, and more…

…and that’s just the beginning! This roadmap is just a snapshot of what’s to come and is subject to change; we’ll be updating it as and when we’re ready to share more information about upcoming features. We can’t wait to hear all about your adventures when Tales of Seikyu launches in Early Access on May 21st 2025, and we’d love to know what new features you’re most looking forward to. Let us know in the comments or over on our Discord, X, BlueSky, Instagram, TikTok, and Reddit channels!

Seabert's Guide to Seikyu - The Countryside (Part #4)

Okay Seabert, this is it…the last part of the guide. You gave it your all and the foxes are gonna be so impressed. They’ll say “Wow, Seabert, thank you so much! We feel ready to move to Seikyu now thanks to your awesome guide.” Then, maybe Mayor Oda will see that you’re ready for more responsibilities and she’ll eve- OH MY GOSH! I didn’t see you there…how much of that did you hear?! Uhh…h-here. This is p-part f-four of the guide…I-I have to go…sorry… ฅ՞•ﻌ•՞ฅ
Pearl Lake
Pearl Lake is a huuuge lake just outside of Seikyu village. Uncle Torleone says it’s full of fresh-water fish but that I’m not to go there without him since it’s out in the countryside and there’s a risk of running into s-scary yokai who wanna fight. Thankfully, Uncle Torleone was happy to go with me to take pictures. He even brought his fishing rod and caught us something for lunch! He said that you can find all sorts of treasure deep down at the bottom of the lake but you’d need to be a good swimmer and be able to hold your breath for a really long time to get to it. I wanted to hear some more, but a whole bunch of Slimes started to appear from under the water and Uncle Torleone said it was time to go.
Sakura Tree
For our next stop, Uncle Torleone said we should go somewhere real pretty. He said “There are lots of interesting and historical sights in Seikyu, but sometimes it’s nice to just relax in nature.” My uncle is pretty wise, but I didn’t know relaxing involved so much walking! We had to go all the way up to the top of a big hill to get this picture. Right at the top was a pretty cherry blossom tree and a cool statue of a frog. The hill overlooked the whole village and it made me feel really small but somehow also kinda big all at the same time? It was nice. On our way back down the hill we bumped into that girl with the big fluffy tail who’s always hanging around with Kababa. I guess she likes it up here too!
Bamboo Forest
Can I tell you a secret? I’ve always wanted to go to the Bamboo Forest, but I don’t get out of Seikyu village much. You’ll probably be able to visit it often, though, since it’s not too far from your new farmhouse! The Bamboo Forest is a cool and mysterious place, b-but I wouldn’t wanna visit it at night. There’s a rumour that you can hear a strange melody from the Bamboo forest carrying on the wind in the evenings and s-some people think it might be a g-ghost.
Hot Springs
We took a wrong turn on the way home and found this last place by accident! It turns out there are plans to open a hot springs in Seikyu in the future…how cool is that? We met a really pretty girl here who was telling us all about the healing properties of the water and she even showed us around, but she asked me not to take any pictures of the springs just yet. I guess they’re not ready. She did say we could take a picture in the reception area though, which was pretty nice. I can’t wait to come here when it opens, especially after a big fishing trip with Uncle Torleone. I bet it’s like sitting in a giant bathtub! The only problem is that I’m not sure how we’re gonna find the place again. We didn’t think to mark it down on our map…oops.

O-okay, that’s the last part of my guide! I hope you liked it and I’m glad I was able to finish it before you arrived. It’s not long now until I’ll be meeting you at the customs and registration office! D-don’t sneak up on me this time, okay?

Developer Diaries #2 - Aardwolfs, Seabert, & Romance!
Welcome back, Seikyuians!
We're now less than a week out from our launch into Early Access and we couldn't be more excited! It's been a super busy time for us, so let's take a look what's waiting just around the corner. ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
😌Seabert's resting before the big day!
Not only is Seabert absolutely adorable (if we do say so ourselves!) but he's also taking some time to find his zen after providing you with some Seikyu Guides! We've been working on Seabert's yukata outfit and sorting any bugs, and we're very pleased with how it looks. What do you think of this Spa Ready ensemble?
💖Love is (almost) in the air...
Romance is a key part of our game, and we're having so much fun creating characters for you to get close to. From last week's sneak peek to an almost full reveal - here's some never-seen-before artwork of our new character's alluring expressions! Credit to our amazing artists who have captured these emotions beautifully.
🐾 An earth-wolf is headed for Seikyu!
We've started the low-poly modelling process for an Aardwolf-Chea. Aardwolves are very cute, nocturnal creatures with long sticky tongues! They're part of the Hyena family. This is a Kickstarter Backer specific pet that we wanted to share a sneak peek of... (⸝⸝> ω
🏝️Your adventure awaits!
Next week Tales of Seikyu will be playable on Steam and your journey in our fantasy world will begin! We'll be sharing more updates soon, as well as an Early Access Roadmap so you'll know what content to expect and when.

What Are the System Requirements and Optimal Settings for Tales of Seikyu?

Hi there Seikyuans! We’re getting ever so close to our Early Access launch and we hope you’re just as excited as we are.

We want to make sure you’re equipped with as much information as possible ahead of our launch so you can join the Early Access journey at a time that suits you best! With that in mind, we’d like to provide a little insight into the minimum and recommended PC hardware requirements for running Tales of Seikyu at Early Access launch.

IMPORTANT: The system requirements detailed below are designed to provide a rough overview of what to expect with regard to gameplay quality at each tier. Please note that even PCs running the optimal specifications can still experience varying game performance due to a multitude of factors beyond the core components, including software, drivers, cooling efficiency, system RAM speeds, etc.
Minimum Specs
Minimum specs are provided to give a rough idea of how to run Tales of Seikyu at its most basic level. Players will be able to experience the magical world of Tales of Seikyu but should be aware that these are the minimum specs required to run the game. We would strongly recommend closing any background processes or applications that could put additional demands on your PC while you play. Players will most likely need to adjust the game’s graphic settings to Low within the game settings menu for a smoother experience.
What to Adjust for Better Performance?
As mentioned above, there are some slight adjustments you can make both in and out of the game that may help to improve performance. Within the game settings menu, you can make adjustments to graphics settings including settings for overall quality, shadows, and textures. Switching these to a lower level can improve the game’s performance.

Outside of the game, we’d advise you to ensure your graphics card drivers are up to date and to close any unnecessary applications and processes that could be consuming system resources on your PC before you play. Windows users have the option to enable Windows Game Mode, a feature designed to optimise the gaming experience by prioritising system resources for games. If you haven’t enabled game mode already, you can do so by navigating to Settings > Gaming > Game Mode, and toggling the switch to the ‘on’ position.
Further Optimisations Coming
We will be working on performance and graphics optimisations (amongst other things!) continually throughout Early Access to improve player experience with the game! We want to thank you once again as we work on bringing the wonderful world of Seikyu to life, and we can’t wait to hear what you think when we enter Early Access. ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
