We’re so incredibly excited to announce the date for our first Early Access content update! Join us on September 11th for Tales of Seikyu: Bloom & Bond – the next instalment in the Tales of Seikyu story. We’ve packed this update with so many amazing new features and it won’t be long before you can dive in and uncover them all. Here’s a little preview of what’s coming…

[h2]Continue Your Story[/h2]
Bloom & Bond brings with it the next chapter of our story. Continue your quest to uncover your fox form and discover the secrets of your long-lost ancestry. Along the way, you’ll be able to help Kon master her human form, investigate the rival tanuki clan, learn more about Seikyu’s history, and bring harmony to the village. We can’t wait for you to experience even more mystery, intrigue, magic, and romance in this upcoming chapter ヾ( ˃ᴗ˂ )◞ • *✰

[h2]Customize Your Character[/h2]
It’s no secret that we’ve pushed ahead with our character customization plans, adjusting our schedule so that we could bring this to you as soon as possible. As of Bloom & Bond, you’ll be able to customize your character’s hair style and color, eye color, skin color, and lip colour.

If that wasn’t exciting enough, hair styles won’t be locked to a particular character model, meaning you'll be able to experiment with styles no matter whether you’re playing as the masculine or feminine character. We’ve also added a bunch of facial markings for even more customization, and you’ll be able to change the color of these too. Colors can be adjusted via sliders for the ultimate selection of hues and shades!



[h2]Meet New Villagers & Enjoy More Heart Events[/h2]
Introducing two new romanceable villagers: Mika and Kincho! Mika is the shy and easily flustered owner of the hot spring (more on that below) and Kincho is the mysterious leader of the tanuki clan! We’re delighted to be offering these two as romance candidates in this update, and you’ll be able to experience some truly magical heart events with these new arrivals.

That’s not all the romance you can expect in this update! We’re adding a whole bunch of heart events for existing characters. You’ll see new heart events for villagers you’ve already been romancing, such as Nyotengu and Hephaestus, as well as heart events for characters we know you’ve been waiting to romance, such as Yui, Leon, Sasaki, and more. Phew, that’s a lotta love.

[h2]Go on Dates at the Hot Spring[/h2]
With so much romance in the air, we figured it was time to give you somewhere to take villagers on dates. Enter the hot spring! This relaxing bathhouse is run by Mika, and it’s the perfect place to unwind after a long day exploring the ruins. You’ll also be able to invite villagers here on dates once you reach five hearts with them. Is there anything more romantic than chilling out in a hot spring under a clear night sky? We don’t think so! Dating is a brand-new mechanic to Tales of Seikyu, and it’s one we’ll be developing over time. For now, all we’ll say is that you should manage your calendars carefully. You wouldn’t want to accidentally schedule two dates at the same time, would you?



[h2]Raise Animals at Koiwa’s Ranch[/h2]
You know what goes hand in hand with farming? Ranching! You’ll be able to raise all kinds of farm animals at Koiwa’s Ranch, whether you’re a fan of traditional farm animals, like cows and sheep, or you’re interested in raising something more exotic, like capybara or crested ibis. Expect adorable animal interactions and plenty of produce to use in cooking and crafting.

[h2]Play the Tavern Mini Game and Earn Some Cash[/h2]
Between raising two willful boys and running Seikyu’s only bar, Shuten is a busy gal! Why not volunteer to help her out once in a while and earn some cash in the process? Our new tavern mini game sees you making drinks, preparing food, and filling orders in quick succession. The residents of Seikyu might be demanding, but we’re sure you’re up for the challenge!

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s lots of new stuff on the way, including new outfits, furniture, character interactions, quality-of-life updates, and more. Tales of Seikyu is available to play right now via Steam Early Access. Download the game now to be ready for our first content update!

[h2]Hi Seikyuians,[/h2]

It’s been a while, how have you been?🌸 We’ve been busy creating so many things for you behind the scenes!

One thing we know is important to you is the ability to customize your character, and with that in mind we released some news recently that customization is coming early! 🩷With this feature you can change your hairstyle (not locked to gender) skin tone, lip colour, eye colours and even give yourself some cool edgy scars!

These are just some of the features that will be available as we’ll work on creating more ways for you to express yourself in Seikyu.☺️

We also wanted to share that in future updates beyond Content Update 1 you will be able to purchase a large variety of new furniture based on new and upgraded villagers homes. Let’s take a little tour! 🏘️


[h2]🛋️New Furniture! [/h2]

Homes in Seikyu will be decorated to reflect the personality and vibes of the yokai villager that lives there. On top of that, the furniture in these homes will also be added to Sasaki’s Furniture shop for you to purchase so you can decorate your walls and halls in whichever way you please! Expect to see this available in a future update AFTER Content Update 1.

If you enjoy the battle ready dojo feel, you can put some swords on the wall and a display stand as a center piece or talking point of the living area? ⚔️



Our lovely, soon to arrive Mika, is a bit of a gaming enthusiast so if you want your home to be entertaining with lots of playful elements; her items can give anyone’s home that vibe. 🎮



If you want a more modern but simplistic style, some homes will have decor that speaks more to a westernized style with simple clean lines of a sofa and an elegant Scandinavian coffee table. 🛋️



And of course for that extra bit of luxury why not add some Victorian style seating with a plush upholstered sofa? Pair with a record player and a chic bookcase and you have yourself a cozy library corner perfect for reading on those rainy autumn days. 📚



Our resident baker and mayor Yui is a star in the kitchen, so if you’re ready to be the next big thing in baking why not grab some of the furniture and decorative elements that her home brings to the table (pun intended). Jars and crockery will make your space all lively and ready for hosting the next dinner party. 🧁



And for the creatives and pondering philosophers, add a typewriter and some pictures to your room to create a simple yet elegant corner of creativity and calm. 🖨️



These are just some of the new furniture and there will be more that we haven’t shown here but we can share more of this if you are interested, let us know?

[h2]🏘️Mountain God Shrine[/h2]

The area around the Mountain God Shrine is coming along nicely and will be a new place to wander and admire the scenery. We’ve spent time adjusting and filling out the terrain as well as working on new collectible items in specific areas. 👀

We’ve also finished the Pavillion!



[h2]🛁Capybara Hot Spring[/h2]

Have you ever wanted to see Capybara chilling in their own mini hot spring? In the future you will be able to! 👀 In an update coming in the future, the Capybara’s will enjoy and splash in the hot springs near the ranch.

This is why we love Early Access! Our amazing community made it clear to us that character customisation would make Tales of Seikyu much more enjoyable. While this is something we had always planned to add to the game, your feedback has shown us just how much of a priority it should be. With that in mind, we spent some time adjusting our workflow and carefully considering what we could do to bring you character customisation as soon as possible. We’re now delighted to report that this is coming as part of our first major content update.

Please note that all images in this Steam post are from a work-in-progress build of the game and may be subject throughout the process of development.

[h2]What to Expect from Character Customisation[/h2]
This is a feature that we plan on developing over time but, to start, you can expect hair style and colour customisations. We did some digging via our social media spaces and asked you what kind of hairstyles you’d like to see, and we’ve selected a handful of styles based on popularity and variety to kick things off. Hairstyles are not locked to character models, so you’ll be able to experiment with styles no matter whether you’re playing as the masculine or feminine character, allowing for more freedom of expression.

We’re also giving you the opportunity to select your character’s skin colour, which can be adjusted using a colour wheel to achieve the exact shade and tone you desire (will you go with a natural colour or something wild like green?!). Hair colour is also adjustable via a colour wheel for the ultimate selection! You can adjust your character’s appearance any time using an in-game mirror.



[h2]What’s Next?[/h2]
We hope you’ll enjoy these options as a jumping-off point for character customisation and we’d LOVE to know what you’d like to see next to personalise your Tales of Seikyu experience. Make sure to tell us what you want in the comments or over on our official Tales of Seikyu community Discord.

Character customisation isn’t the only thing that’s coming with our next major content update. Make sure to check out our roadmap for an idea of what to expect, from story progression and new areas such as the hot spring and ranch, all the way to new romanceable villagers. We’ll also be bringing lots of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements as well!

While we’ve not announced a date for our next major content update, dev work is well under way and, if you haven’t picked up the game yet, we’d love for you to dive in now! You won’t have to start a new game when the update drops, so now’s a perfect time to start your journey. [h2]Happy August Seikyuians,[/h2]

We hope you’ve all been enjoying Tales of Seikyu and have made either good friends or found the start of a budding romance among the yokai villagers. Before diving into showing you some behind the scenes looks at what we’ve been working on, we’d like to share a few words about how Content Update 1 is going!

We’ve done quite a bit, such as developing the character customization UI (user interface)
AND creating new hairstyles. 💇🏻‍♀️



For ranching we’ve implemented some new livestock actions as well as making sure the animals are behaving how they should.😉

We’ll have a lot more to share soon regarding both of those, so for now let’s have a look at the development of Seikyu’s important landmarks such as the Tree of the Mountain God!


[h2]🌳The Tree of the Mountain God [/h2]

The Tree of the Mountain God near the bamboo forest is getting a full landscape makeover; landscaping at its finest! 🌳

We’re working on making the area tranquil and scenic, with beautiful bridges, cascading waterfalls and serene, still ponds to maybe dip your toes in on a bright summer's day? 🌞



And, as is custom for paying your respects to the Mountain God, we are working on a shrine for you to visit.

[h2]🏠Sasaki’s Home & Redesign Update[/h2]

Sasaki’s home is coming along nicely and, as we’ve begun shaping out his furniture for his home, it makes sense he has a workshop in the back where he tinkers with new blueprints and designs! 🔨

It is also a good space to store extra materials, you probably wonder where he kept all the stone and wood that you delivered right? All safely tucked into the back of his home, ready to be turned into a new piece of furniture!

Additionally, we’ve been working on a redesign for Sasaki and have some concept art to share. We’ve already had some amazing feedback from folks in the Discord and feel like this is a great opportunity to reaffirm that the concept art below is a very stylized version of the design we have in mind, and his in-game character model will look a little more aligned with the broader Tales of Seikyu style.

We’re taking on board all of your feedback regarding how this concept art looks, and we’ll likely be making some adjustments to the final design ahead of our next major content update. Fixed an issue where weapons could be mistakenly duplicated under certain conditions
