Diablo 4 Season 11 is set to make some big changes to fundamental mechanics, but it's the news about what's coming a little further in the future that's got me excited. Diablo 4 YouTuber and Twitch streamer Ryan 'Raxxanterax' sat down with Colin Finer and Zavin Haroutunian from Blizzard to talk about what we can expect in Season 11 and beyond. Among the discussions are future difficulty scaling, the creative potential of the new Tower activity, and the reintroduction of support builds, and it sounds like we're finally getting a feature I and many others have been wanting since the game first launched.

Diablo 4's new enemy rework is what will win me back, not Blizzard's latest loot overhaul

Blizzard has just lifted the lid on Diablo 4 Season 11, or at least Diablo 4 patch 2.5.0 heading to the PTR, that will let us test the fundamental changes coming in its next big update. The major talking point is the latest itemization overhaul, one significant enough that fans have already dubbed it 'Loot 3.0.' But should it be? Rather than incremental fixes for tempering and masterworking, it's the promise of "evolved" monster combat that is more likely to solidify its reputation as one of the best RPGs on PC and draw me away from rivals like Path of Exile 2 and Last Epoch. I just hope Blizzard's behemoth is able to actually lift itself out of its seasonal cycle of torment.

Diablo co-creator David Brevik is one of the industry's most influential figures, helping to popularize the action-RPG genre at large. His devilish dungeon crawler and its iconic sequel, Diablo 2, are widely regarded among the best RPGs of all time. He and several of his fellow executives then split from Blizzard in 2003, and he went on to work on the likes of Hellgate: London and Marvel Heroes before founding publishing house Skystone Games in 2020. Diablo 4, meanwhile, has continued to grow and twist into a gargantuan, live-service behemoth that has become the status quo, and often feels outmaneuvered by its smaller rivals. I recently had the chance to chat with Brevik at length, and I asked him how he feels about the current state of the series.

The Diablo 4 Starcraft crossover is here, but you're going to need to break the bank if you want to do your best to pretend that Starcraft 3 is actually real in Blizzard's hell-bothering ARPG. The internal collaboration project gives us a teasing taste of the space epic, right as we approach the tenth anniversary of its final release, Legacy of the Void. As an ardent fan, my response is naturally to cling onto any hope that Blizzard remembers this lost series - it even brought us a surprise SC2 balance patch back in September - but I can't help but balk a little at the asking price.
