An Early Access Launch Wrap-Up... And a "Thank you" to Puny Humans

We launched Slime 3K exactly two weeks ago, and it's been an exciting Early Access phase for us so far. 🎉

What a generic opening, Jesus! Ugh. Don't recognize myself here.

The launch was awesome, sure, but not without its hiccups lol. Some things straight-up SUCKED (launching a game without controller support, anyone?), and we've been busting our *sses to fix those things. As proof, we can offer four diligently delivered patches and this EA Roadmap, sealed by Despot's honest word (however honest Despot's word to puny humans can be.)

Man, these can really motivate a dev on a Monday morning. Even when coming from someone who just fell asleep on their keyboard. Tired from trying to beat Level 9, we presume.

It is widely known that some humans are less puny than others. That "less puny" category includes influencers and journalists who have covered Slime 3K's launch and thus earned Despot's favor. Not to be confused with kindness of any sort, of course.

IGN, Vulgar Knight, and Evil Gamerz put out some rad articles. Thanks to them, even more players will have the chance to help Slime massacre little pink humans. Missi, the Achievement Huntress published a kick-*ss achievement overview. Dive in, trophy addicts.

There you have it, a brief overview of how Slime was unleashed on the unsuspecting puny humankind. And let me guess: now you will naturally ask: "Ok, cool, well, what do I get next for my buck in this game?" That's no problem, we got you. Our next update is going to be ready in about a month, featuring, of course, controller support and secret passive abilities. That update will be meant to increase the gameplay depth and add more ability synergies.

Patch: New Meta-Upgrades, UI Improvements

[h3]🧬 New Meta-Upgrades for DNA Points 🧬[/h3]
  • Crushing Humans: Slime can damage enemies by moving over them.
  • Poisonous Slime Trail: Slime's trail damages and slightly slows enemies!
  • Extra Nuggets: Fiery Nuggets of Darkness shoot out from Slime each time you pick up a bonus.


[h3]🧪 Other Changes 🧪[/h3]
  • On the rewards screen, you can now hover over the icon of a killed enemy and see statistics that show the total number of enemies of a given type you've killed. Yes, now you can see how many of them you have left to kill to get the respective achievements. We believe some of the values for completing achievements are currently a bit high... It is probably not worth lowering them, but in the future, we plan to add fun activities that will allow you to get these achievements by not just farming previous levels. We also want to add more achievements =)
  • Slightly changed the buttons in the main menu. Don't worry: we have not cut anything, just slightly changed the navigation.
  • Made the resource accrual more obvious during runs. We hope that from now on it will be clearer how to get tokens (the shop currency) and DNA points.
  • Changed the appearance of the crosshair. It should now be more visible.
  • Visually separated inactive abilities from the active ones. In the near future, we will definitely add the option to move abilities between inventories when the shop is open.


We are starting to work on a big update! Although this one is not particularly small, the next one will be bigger but will also take more time to prepare. Patch: A New Starter Slime: Financial 💵 New Meta Upgrades, More XP for Runs

[h3]PATCH 0.5.7[/h3]

  • Adjusted how experience points are awarded for unlocking new ability cards. More experience is issued for failed runs. Example: If previously killing a late-stage monster (like Killer Tomato, for instance) used to give you 50 times more points than taking down a basic swordsman, now this discrepancy has been significantly decreased. Additionally, experience points are now individually adjusted for each level, with more challenging levels giving more experience.
  • Added 2 seconds of invulnerability after picking up a Gumball Machine (the explosive pick-up.) It should now be more useful on the latter levels of the game.
  • A new starter Slime condition: "Financial." Starts with 20 tokens and Coin Launcher.
  • 2 new meta-upgrades that can be purchased with DNA points: bonus starting tokens (store currency) and a store upgrade discount.
  • Buffed all starter Slime conditions except "Default" and "Ocular."
  • Made minor balance adjustments to some levels. For instance, the start of Level 10 became harder.
  • Currently working on 🎮 gamepad support as the highest priority task!
  • Planning less frequent updates, approximately once a month, with more significant features.

- Fixed DNA barrels (meta progression currency) not being picked up on later levels

Hotfix: A Lower Minimum for Cards Tiers in a Deck, Balance Changes, & More

[h3]HOTFIX 0.5.5[/h3]

  • Disabled pausing the game by pressing Space. Please use the ESC key to pause the game.

  • Changed the requirement for the deck to have exactly 3 cards of each tier (D, C, B, A, S) instead of 4. We received feedback that players enjoyed the requirements from the demo version more.

  • Simplified unlocking new cards. Now, you need less experience to unlock a new card on average. There is something we will definitely change later: On many levels, the majority of experience for meta-progression is given for killing the boss or stronger late-game monsters. It increases the victory reward, but overall, it's not the final solution. For now, if you can't complete a level, try replaying the previous level and get more experience for it. Or you could wait until we fix it in one of the upcoming patches—losing runs will soon be granting more experience!

  • Slightly increased the drop rate of DNA points (the meta-progression currency).

  • Made minor adjustments to level balance. Like, real slight. But if you were stuck on levels 4, 5 or 6, please give it another try!

  • Added arrow key movement that duplicates the WASD movement.
