Update From The Future

I would like to mention for historical purposes that this update has been rolled back and effectively canceled due to technical difficulties. But will likely be recreated in the future.

Taking A Break From Full Time Development

Edit: It seems this section caused a lot of misplaced concern for the future of the game, please read my updated explanation.

Hello, I wanted to get this out of the way first so there isn't any confusion. I have spent the past year and a half working full time on Wild Omission. It has been an incredible journey, and I'm incredibly thankful for everyone's support over that period, no matter how small. With that said, I also make music. I have put my music career on hold throughout the time I have spent developing Wild Omission. And I feel it's about time I brought it back. So I'm going to be focusing more on music than working on Wild Omission for the foreseeable future. However, this does not mean that Wild Omission is canceled or no longer going to receive updates. You'll notice I didn't say I'm quitting (I don't quit things). Instead I'm shifting my primary focus and attention to my music. I will still continue to update Wild Omission, just a little less frequently. You can listen to my music on spotify , youtube, or view my linktree.

Structures

Structures have been added. They are the most requested feature by far. Right now there is only one structure. It's a kind of weird abandoned building thing, and the art for it is not final by any means, but I'll certainly improve it, and add more structures in the future. They have barrels that you can break and get loot from, and a new crate with even better loot. Getting structures to work in an infinite world was a challenge, but I'm quite happy with how it turned out.



Small Changes/Bug Fixes
  • Fixed probability odds.

Fixed scaling issues on ultra wide resolutions thanks again to Kamron (DeadPoly developer)

A Happy Little Update | Alpha 1.3.7

Ultra Wide Scaling Improvements

The UI should look better and be more functional on Ultra Wide Monitors. Kamron plays on an Ultra Wide monitor, and he let me know that my UI looks bad on Ultra Wide. He also showed me how to fix it. So you should also play DeadPoly if you don't already, Kamron is an awesome dude.

Tool Break Sound

Tools now make a sound when they break, this might have been added last update, not sure.

New Splash Texts

Some new splash texts have been added. Kamron has also been added to credits menu.

Tiny Update?

A tiny micro patch was released that has the same version number as this version, I fixes a subtle UI alignment issue that sometimes occurred.

More Polish | Alpha 1.3.6

Resource Destruction Effects

All resources in Wild Omission have received a destruction effect. The node destruction effect stands out the most. Inspired by Rust, the nodes will now break down as you mine them.

Pooka Pooka Explode Effects

Pooka Pookas will now explode on death. The explosion does not deal damage to surroundings.

Swimming Is Back!

I have re-implemented swimming, this time you can go under the water without dying.



Smelting Changes

Smelting speed has been increased from 5 seconds for both the campfire and furnace, to once every 2.5 seconds on the campfire, and 1 second on the furnace. Fuel Consumption has also been lowered from 2 Wood, to 1 Wood.

Iris Replication

Iris is an improved system of handling network replication in a multiplayer game. It handles replication in a much more efficient way, reducing CPU load. This was something DeadPoly developer Kamron told me about. I was completely oblivious to the fact that there where better ways of handling replication in Unreal Engine. We helped each other get it setup in our games.

Storm Wind Sounds

When there is a storm trees will now make wind noises.

Small Changes/Bug Fixes
  • Fixed hitmarkers not playing on clients.
  • Fixed crops despawning on world load.

Quality of life | Alpha 1.3.5

Building Hammer Rotate Function

Building hammers can now rotate building blocks that can be rotated (wooden foundations & floors, stairs).



Resource Destruction Effects

This is still a work in progress, but there are now effects that play when resources are destroyed. Right now it's the same effect across all the resources, but in the future they will be unique to each.

Wall Signs

There were signs that could be paced on the ground, I have now added signs that can be placed on the wall.

Small Changes/Bug Fixes
  • Fixed multiplayer crash caused by monsters running server side logic on the client.
  • Fixed servers creating new world on launch.
  • Made AI sound effects play attached.
