Dedicated Servers | Alpha 1.2.0

Dedicated Servers

There is now a dedicated server tool that you can download and host dedicated Wild Omission servers with. There are many advantages to dedicated server, mainly that they can stay open even if no players are connected, and they usually have less lag. For more information about setting up your own dedicated server please see this guide. I have also made a handy Server Configuration Program to help new server owners quickly configure server name, port, and administrators.



Server Browser Improvements

The server browser is now split into two categories, for both dedicated servers, and player hosted worlds respectively, this should make it easier for players to find what they are looking for. The refresh button has been moved back to the top.



Coordinates

Pressing f3 now toggles player coordinates on/off. This should help you navigate your way around.



Small Changes/Bug Fixes
  • Added new splash texts.
  • Fixed major issue that caused data loss upon reloading world.

Dedicated Server Testing

Hello, I would like to let everyone know that I have been working on dedicated servers for the past few days, and that they are available for all players to test. In order to join dedicated servers you will need to switch Wild Omission to the staging branch in the steam betas tab. To host a dedicated server you will need to use the Wild Omission Dedicated Server Tool availible for all owners of Wild Omission to download from the steam client, or for anyone to download with steamcmd. If you have any questions or need help setting up your server please join the discord server and ask for help.

Alpha 1.1.4

Save file will no longer try to calculate spawn chunk on the fly every time the world is loaded, spawn chunks are set once and remembered.
Fixed bug that would sometimes cause chunks to load as holes in the world.

  • Fixed saving prompt on pause menu not going away in singleplayer.
  • Fixed possible exploit to gain achievements before conditions were met.
