Update 0.6.0.0 - Boomshots & Booby Traps

With spring coming, this year's 3rd monthly update brings newfound mayhem set for and by Strayers!

Strayed Update 0.6.0.0 brings some local boom and burn - with the introduction of the Pump Shotgun, Shotgun Traps and Flame Traps. We've also started spring cleaning by removing core foundations and integrating authority to resource containers, in addition to ladder hatches, and finally - a colored toggle map to complete the experience!

Spring 2025 approaches! Let's get right into it!

[h2]Pump Shotgun - Chk Chk BOOM![/h2]



Apparently, some Strayer found shotgun parts out of nowhere and made it work. Talk about Macgyver'd firepower!

The Pump Shotgun works just like you know it - feed it some shells, pump 'em and shoot! With a crutch to dampen its recoil on your shoulder, it's sure to spread massive damage. Just keep in mind its effective range - it ain't no sniper rifle!



With close encounter problems solved, how about if you're not there to hold the boomstick yourself?

[h2]Shotgun Trap - Local Death Machine![/h2]



So, some genius who probably knows a thing or two about the Pump Shotgun thought it would be smart to reassemble it and make it work without hands.

Introducing, the offline raider's worst nightmare - the Shotgun Trap! Made from the same material build as pump shotguns, these silent, shell-loaded traps are set up on surfaces to act as a deterrent to whoever manifests greed inside someone else's domain.

To make it work properly, remember to fill it up with shells and place it down strategically - AND stay away in front of the barrel when you're not base-authorized!

Sometimes, you'll look for some variety when it comes to base defenses. One Strayer thought of replicating the shotgun trap's effectiveness - but intentionally and literally made FIRE-POWER instead.

[h2]Flame Trap - Fiery Defense![/h2]



The Flame Trap. Now this one's created with the passion for heat. Armed with some fuel and set to light ablaze pesky intruders, the Flame Trap just screams "get out" with its deadly flame-throwing capabilities within its vision cone.

While it does have its setbacks (like the limited travel distance of flames), one can outsmart intruders with proper set up.

With traps now lurking in bases, it's time to talk about better base building - starting off with a better way to navigate indoors!

[h2]Hatch Door - Vertical Doors![/h2]



Steps and stairs are bound to get jealous of this one. The Hatch Door is here!

Works just like a door - but vertically - the Hatch Door is a craftable, convenient way to seal your base levels without the need for airlocked stairwells. It's also easy-to-install - just place said Hatch Door to a ceiling frame (ooh, new!), and you're good to go!



Remember - these are basically doors, meaning you need to lock them either with a Key Lock or a Smart Lock to restrict access.

With this vertical change to base building, we've also decided to finally remove a core building piece in favor of a better way...

[h2]New Base Authority Integration - Out with the old![/h2]

Back then, Core Foundations were a way to integrate authority of bases to players. So basically, anyone who touches a base's core foundation gained total access. While this basically worked - in the long run, it has proven itself to be inefficient and quite exploitable.



As a move to improve overall gameplay for everyone, this update removes Core Foundations and integrates base authority to Resource Containers.

To authorize, just grab a deployed RC. To clear authorizations, open it and click "Clear Authority" at the bottom of the Resource Container UI.

With this major change to base authority comes the simple yet very helpful change to our lovely little map...

[h2]Colored Map - In with the new![/h2]



From the very start, Strayed's toggle map only displayed grids. It's basically something that tells you where you and your friends are, and how to relay location info. This worked well for players, as they became accustomed to its simplicity.

As we move towards a brighter, more vibrant Strayed future, we're introducing Colored Maps!

Similar to when the 1950's brought Color Television to everyone - we've redone the toggle map to show a colored bird's eye view. Plus, it now comes with monument icons, zoom and pan controls - talk about travel convenience!

Update 0.5.0.0 - New Horizons


[h2]The Strayed Engineers have done it again! [/h2]

This year's 2nd monthly update brings unlockable mysteries, hidden away behind locked doors inside new and refreshed monuments!

Strayed Update 0.5.0.0 makes for more interesting travels across the island - and looting in-between. With newly-designed monuments such as the Sawmill, the Oil Refinery, and (finally) a new Prison - with locked doors waiting for Strayers to unlock - makes this a monumental update for all! Not to mention being able to finally gift your friends sleeping bags.

With unlocked potential upon us all. Let's jump right into it!

[h2]The New Sawmill Monument![/h2]



The engineers who worked on the airfield and radio tower from before is back at it again! They needed to have a better way to transfer large building resources - especially lumber.

And so they have decided to build a huge sawmill - but have decided to leave it even after constructions complete.

More than just a regular sawmill, the whole place has scattered loot left by the engineers who may have left in a swift haste for some reason. Who knows what kind of mayhem ensues in this lumber production area.

[h2]New Oil Refinery![/h2]



Of course - with new places to build comes big machinery to run. The Strayed Engineers needed energy in the form of oil. What could be better than a good old fashioned Oil Refinery?

The New Oil Refinery is as large as you can imagine - with tankers and refineries connected by large pipes going in and out of the main building.

There's also a huge talk about something left by the engineers - locked doors unlockable only by certain gadgetry. Who knows what they may have left behind these large blast doors, and what the reason for building them in secret.

[h2]New Prison![/h2]



It's said that this was the main reason the engineers went back to the island with more construction materials (and new production areas e.g. Sawmill and Oil Refinery) than ever before. Their benefactors may have wanted to have a better way of controlling criminals within the island - and what better way than a larger, more complex prison?

Yes, Strayers - you have been waiting for this for a long time - the new Prison Monument is here!

A main prison building annexed by an entrance behind towering walls and gates, this is not just an ordinary site. There's no strict visiting hours, so anyone can be here at any time - besides, there are more reasons than one to visit the prison.

Some say there are secrets within the prison walls built by the engineers themselves - for reasons we'll never know.

[h2]The Gadget - Unlocking Potential![/h2]



When the engineers built the new monuments, they built them with secret agendas. They meant to hide something within large blast doors only unlockable with "The Gadget". Some of these "gadgets" may have been left by them.



Keep a keen eye on these things, as they hold more value than what they look like. Be careful though, you may not be the only one holding "gadgets", and you are certainly not the only one in pursuit of it and the fortunes that lie ahead for those who hold it.



Important Notes on the Gadget: The first gadget is found at Gas Station, and it needs to be scanned at the authority terminal right next to it to get level 1 clearance on the gadget. The gadget needs to be taken to Airfield where the locked room can be opened. That locked room gives you level 2 clearance, which can be taken to either Oil Refinery or Sawmill to unlock their rooms. Those rooms will give you level 3 clearance which can be taken to Prison to get some good loot.

[h2]Sleeping Bag Gifting - For our Friends![/h2]



As the title says - sleeping bags can now be gifted to your friends! Say goodbye to finding your way into the wilderness just to meet up with your friends. Now, they can spawn right in front of you at will!

To gift a sleeping bag to your friend, the Sleeping Bag UI window will now open when you aim your dominant hand at a sleeping bag that you own and press grip trigger. This window will populate with a list of your friends. Next to each friend's name will be a "Gift Bag" button. Click that button to gift the bag to a friend. You can also manually enter a friend's username when gifting a bag.

Note: If you are on Steam, your friends list will only show Steam friends that are currently playing. If you are on Meta, you will see all Meta friends. If you are trying to gift a bag to someone that is on a different platform, you can type that player's username manually. The player you are gifting a bag to must be in the same server as you when you gift the bag, otherwise the bag will fail to gift to that player.

Update 0.4.0.0 - Care and Repair

A rather unconventional monthly update brings you the most number of bug fixes & optimizations - both in-game and our Discord - altogether in one combo!

Strayed Update 0.4.0.0 is a combination of both game and community changes. From adding some needed in-game audio feedback, anti-cheat improvements, a bunch of QoL changes and bug fixes, the migration of our official ticketing system, Discord beautification, and 2 golden skin drops for all!

Starting off another year of virtual survival stronger than ever. Let's jump right into it!

[h2]Headshot Audio Feedback - Splacrunch![/h2]



Before we get started - Shoutout to @grieings for this awesome clip!

Every Strayer knows (hell, every gamer knows) that headshots work best for damage output. We all aim for capping domes for a reason, so we're making it more satisfying.

We're starting off this month's update with an audible - Headshot feedback! Starting now, you'll be able to hear a specific soundbite when you headshot someone. We believe this will make confrontations, duels and gunfights more interesting and satisfying.

Also, it can literally change the pace of battles, now that you don't have to guess if you've landed a shot at the dome!

[h2]Improved Anti-cheat![/h2]

With our growing number of Strayers on the islands come more of these little !@#$ trying to ruin our gaming experience. While the community has been actively capturing and reporting heinous acts of cheating, we're committed to setting up and improving our own line of defenses.



This update comes with an improvement to the anti-cheat. While we can't discuss any more details about it - rest assured that the number of cheaters should dwindle effective immediately.

Take note: this doesn't mean we're stopping anti-cheat improvements. We're going to continue improving our anti-cheat measures to provide the best Strayed experience for everyone.

[h2]New Ticketing System - For the Future![/h2]

Back in the day - a few months after Strayed was released - ticketing was manageable via Discord. While the system has proven itself more than capable, we're focusing on scalability now - and the more Strayed grows, the more inefficient our Discord Ticketing System became.

As a move towards a better Strayed future, we're migrating our TIcketing System to YouTrack.



With YouTrack, you'll be able to provide more details in your ticket submission than ever before. No need to have longer messages just to provide better insight - everything can be put in a form including file/media uploads. Additionally, the main menu in Strayed now includes buttons that will take you directly to the YouTrack forms.
