January 2026 Development Update
[p]Kicking off the year with a flurry of feature improvements and implementations. [/p][p][/p][h2]7on7 Gameplay [/h2][p]We now have fully playable drives for offensive and defensive against the AI You can also set your game rules before you head into a match up. [/p][p]Does your local league award points for turnovers? Cool, add that. Do you play a 20 minute game with no half time or maybe two 10 minute halves? You can do that too. Want to setup your own weird "Sudden Death" rule where the game ends after someone gets the first touchdown? Yup, adjust your mercy rules. Have fun in your wild little sandbox.[/p][p]
[/p][h2]7on7 Team & Player Archetypes [/h2][p]Taking some inspiration from games like All Pro Football 2K8, we have a tiered player quality "ratings" system. Varsity, All-Star, and everyone else. Each team is made up of 1 Varsity, 2 All-Star, and other regular players. But each player also has their own archetype. So two teams may have a Varsity caliber QB, but one is a wild throw into coverage Gun Slinger and the other is a quick underneath slant focused QB. [/p][p]We have 32 total teams setup all with their own feel. Still requires tuning and additional work to polish it, but this concept will carry over into the full 11v11 game and dynasty as well.[/p][p]
[/p][h2]Presentation & Features [/h2][p]We had a wild month of trying out some ideas playtesters, and our community, have shared for awhile. Good news, our internal testing went really well and we added all of these options![/p][p]
[/p][h2]Gameplay & Customization [/h2][p]Now that we can officially play full games, and let the AI choose their plays etc, it gave us the opportunity to sit back and watch the AI decision making in coverage. [/p][p]We began expanding the Man and Zone logic we had to include a more team-based approach where if you are in Cover 2 with deep safety help, your underneath zones will know that and release players to them while locking down their own zones. [/p][p]These are the football elements that people really want to see in a football game. And we're going to bring it to you. [/p][p]
[/p][h2]7on7 Release Question [/h2][p]Given the feedback we've received from our first playtest, what we have on our roadmap the first few months of this year, etc we're curious if you would be interested in a smaller stand alone 7on7 game release early this year. [/p][p]There is an opportunity for this to become a reality if there is enough interest since this game already exists and much of it will be playtested later this month. If there is enough interest we could look into releasing this before we get into tackles, offensive and defensive line blocking, etc. It would be a limited, smaller, release but would help get you a Varsity-powered game sooner. No impact on the full 11v11 dynasty game.[/p][p][/p][p]
